The Polytechnic Institute of Bordeaux (Bordeaux INP) (Institut polytechnique de Bordeaux, Groupe Bordeaux INP and before INPB) is a French technological university system consisting of six engineering schools. The institute is a Grand établissement.Bordeaux INP offers through its internal schools nine engineering specialties, in: Agrifood and Biological Engineering Biotechnology Chemistry and Engineering Physics Cognitive Electronics Georesources and Environment Computer science Mathematics and Mechanics Industrial Performance and Aeronautical Maintenance Telecommunications.The institute also offers Masters of Science in: Radio and telecommunications systems, Nano and Micro technologies, Design and processing of inorganic materials, and in Applied Formulation of Polymers and Colloids.

The University of Bordeaux 1 (French: Université Bordeaux-I) was one of the four universities in the Academy of Bordeaux, together with the Bordeaux Segalen University (Bordeaux 2), Michel de Montaigne University (Bordeaux 3) and Montesquieu University (Bordeaux 4), and one of five in Aquitaine. On 1 January 2014, it merged with Bordeaux 2 and Bordeaux 4 to form the University of Bordeaux. It currently operates as the Talence campus of the merged University of Bordeaux. Bordeaux Institute of Technology - ENSEIRB-MATMECA School of Engineering (in French: Bordeaux INP - ENSEIRB-MATMECA) is a French Engineering Grande École located in Bordeaux and specialized in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, Computer Science, Telecommunications, Mechanical Engineering and Mathematics. The majority of the admitted students are selected among candidates from the French Preparatory Classes for Engineering Schools which is a 2 to 3-year undergraduate level program in Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and Engineering Sciences. After admission, the standard curriculum is a 3-year program resulting in the French Diplôme d'Ingénieur, considered as a Master's degree of the European Higher Education Area.

In Bordeaux, the Cognitique Institute (IdC) was a public education institution, founded in 2003 by the Bordeaux Segalen University, that includes a cognitive engineering training program (master in engineering), two Masters programs and a PhD program in applied cognitive science. Since 2009, IdC joined the Polytechnic Institute of Bordeaux (IPB) and its name change to become : Ecole Nationale Superieure de Cognitique (ENSC). Pr. Bernard Claverie was Founder and Director of the Bordeaux Cognitique Institute (2003-2009) and of the ENSC (2009-2019).

The Institut Supérieur de Logistique Industrielle (ISLI), or Institute for Supply Chain Excellence as it is called in English, is the Supply Chain Management academic department and research center of KEDGE Business School and located in Talence, France, in the suburb area of Bordeaux. All of its programs are accredited by the Chartered Institute of Procurement & Supply.

The École nationale supérieure de chimie, de biologie et de physique or ENSCPB (or "CPB" in common parlance) - which can be translated as Graduate School of Chemistry, Biology and Physics - is one of the French grandes écoles, whose main purpose is to form chemical and physical engineers (with a level "bac+5"). It is located on the campus of the Polytechnic Institute of Bordeaux, in the town of Pessac, close to the famous city of Bordeaux.In 2009, the school merged with the Institut des sciences et techniques des aliments de Bordeaux (or "ISTAB"). This is when the school changed its name to the current one: École nationale supérieure de chimie, de biologie et de physique (or ENSCBP). Different schooling are proposed in the school, the two biggest being the engineering programs in Chemistry and Physics (or "Formation CP") and in Food Science (or "Formation BA"). The students mostly go abroad for at least 5 months during their 3-year study program, and obtain an Engineering School Diploma, equivalent of a master's degree in Engineering.

The École nationale supérieure d'architecture et de paysage de Bordeaux (ENSAPBx) is a French school which provides training leading to the national diploma of architect, as well as the State diploma of landscape gardener (DEP). The school is located in Talence.
