Staincliffe and Batley Carr railway station served the hamlet of Staincliffe and the district of Batley Carr in West Yorkshire, England from 1878 to 1952 on the Huddersfield Line.

Batley railway station serves the large town of Batley in West Yorkshire, England. Situated 8 miles (13 km) south-west of Leeds on the main line to Huddersfield and Manchester, the station was opened by the London and North Western Railway in 1848. The station is now managed by Northern Trains, who operate the service from Leeds to Wigan Wallgate via Manchester Victoria. Services via Huddersfield are currently provided by TransPennine Express.

Mount Pleasant stadium, officially known for commercial sponsorship purposes as Fox's Biscuits Stadium, is a rugby league stadium in Batley, West Yorkshire, England. It is the home of the Batley Bulldogs. The Mount Pleasant pitch is sloped and is on a hill overlooking Batley. The end of the ground at the top of the hill has three grandstands. Behind the rugby posts is a terraced stand, which houses the players changing rooms and executive boxes. At the opposite end at the bottom of the hill is an open terraced stand. The bottom corner of the pitch has a pronounced dip.

Mount Pleasant is a cricket ground in Batley, West Yorkshire. The first recorded match on the ground was in 1869, when Batley played Burnley. The ground hosted a single first-class match in 1883 when the T. Emmett's XI played R. G. Barlow's XI.The ground, adjacent to the stadium of Batley RLFC, is the home of Batley Cricket Club. They are members of the Central Yorkshire Cricket League.

Upper Batley is an area of Batley in West Yorkshire, England. It was popular with the millowners of Batley in the 19th century as a place to build their family homes. There are many fine stone built villas in the area. Batley Hall, a two-storey oak-and-stone building, was originally built in 1370 by William Copley, although the present building dates from 1857. Its gatehouses are now ordinary homes, and the Old Hall is now a residential home. The 17th-century banqueting hall in the grounds is a grade II* listed building, whose origins may have been a dovecote or a private chapel built as early as 1465 for Lady Elizabeth Copley when rheumatism prevented her from travelling to the parish church in Batley for services. Upper Batley is also a conservation area.

Batley Carr was a Great Northern Railway station serving Batley Carr, Yorkshire. It had two side platforms, with the facilities on the northbound platform. It was accessed via Wood Lane, which was built with a kink to get around the facilities. This kink survives to this day.The station opened on 12 April 1880 and closed to passengers in March 1950.

Batley Carr, West Yorkshire, England is a district partly in Dewsbury and partly in Batley, on the way to Dewsbury, along the A652, Bradford Road. Historically part of the West Riding of Yorkshire, the population is about 3,740. Crime is around the national average.Batley Carr housed the workers from the mills of Dewsbury, Batley and Batley Carr. As the settlement expanded, with the growth of textiles, there was a necessity for its own railway station (Staincliffe and Batley Carr railway station). The red brick station master's house still stands but is now a private residence. However, Batley Carr has since dwindled in size and now only has a post office, a few shops (mainly takeaways) and some remaining factories including the British Beds haulage depot. It is near the nightclub 'The Frontier'. Public houses and working men's clubs are still popular. Shannon Matthews, who disappeared from Dewsbury Moor on 19 February 2008, was found alive on 14 March 2008 in Lidgate Gardens, Batley Carr.

Soothill is a small village in the town of Batley, West Yorkshire, England. Soothill is 1.5 miles (2.4 km) northeast from the town of Dewsbury and directly north of Hanging Heaton. The name derives from the Old English "sot" and means a place where wood was burnt.Soothill was on the Great Northern Railway's Leeds to Batley branch line, although no station was provided. The colliery at Soothill, adjacent to the railway, was the scene of a rail accident in February 1920 between a goods train and a passenger train. The accident was not fatal with only injuries being recorded. The railway was closed in 1953 leaving a disused tunnel (Soothill Tunnel) north east of the settlement. This tunnel has been bricked up as it contains toxic gases.

Hanging Heaton is a village in West Yorkshire, England. Partly in both Batley and Dewsbury, it is an historic village mentioned in the Domesday Book under the name 'Etun'. The prefix 'Hanging' refers to a steep hillside hanging above lower ground, while 'Heaton' means 'High Farm', meaning the village was once a hillside farmstead.With housing dating from the 16th century to the present day, it is a varied community with a successful cricket club, golf club, two churches, a pub and a community group. Hanging Heaton is also home to both Hanging Heaton CE (VC) J & I School and Mill Lane J I & EY School.Hanging Heaton was the birthplace of physiologist Robert Edwards, who was the pioneer of in vitro fertilisation (IVF).

The West Yorkshire Built-up Area, previously known as the West Yorkshire Urban Area is a term used by the Office for National Statistics (ONS) to refer to a conurbation in West Yorkshire, England, based on the cities of Leeds, Bradford and Wakefield, and the large towns of Huddersfield and Halifax. It is the 4th largest urban area in the United Kingdom. However, it excludes other towns and villages such as Featherstone, Normanton, Castleford, Pontefract, Hemsworth, Todmorden, Hebden Bridge, Knottingley, Wetherby and Garforth which, though part of the county of West Yorkshire are considered independently. There are substantial areas of agricultural land within the designated area – more than in any other official urban area in England – many of the towns and cities are only just connected with one another by narrow outlying strips of development.

Dewsbury Central was the Great Northern station serving eastern Dewsbury in Yorkshire. It opened in 1874 and closed on 7 September 1964, although goods traffic continued along its route until 15 February 1965, after which the line serving the station was closed entirely. It is located to the east of Dewsbury railway station, which has remained open since. The station had a single large island platform with a glass roof accessed from below through an entrance on Crackenedge Lane. This entrance survives as part of the embankment, which after the closure of the railway had the A638 Dewsbury Ring Road built over it. As well as this, some sections of the nearby trackbed have been preserved and turned into a footpath.
