Duncan is a town in Spartanburg County, South Carolina, United States. Its population was 3,181 at the 2010 census.

South Carolina's 4th congressional district is a congressional district in upstate South Carolina bordering North Carolina. It includes parts of Greenville and Spartanburg counties. The district includes the two major cities of Greenville and Spartanburg. The district is one of the most conservative in the state. In the late 20th century, it has been in Republican hands since 1979, aside from a six-year stint by Democrat Liz J. Patterson, the daughter of former Senator Olin Johnston. Even before the Republicans finally took control of the seat, the 4th had been a rather conservative district. Like in most of the state, the old-line Southern Democrats began splitting their tickets as early as the 1940s. However, this area's white conservatives became increasingly willing to support Republicans at the state and local level as early as the 1970s, well before the rest of the state swung Republican. The district is a major destination for presidential candidates in election years, as South Carolina is one of the first states to hold a presidential primary. Republican William Timmons has represented the district since January 3, 2019. He succeeded Republican Trey Gowdy who did not seek reelection. From 2003 to 2013, the district included all of Spartanburg and Union counties and parts of Greenville and Laurens counties. Greenville and parts of Spartanburg counties are entirely within the district.

Lyman is a town in Spartanburg County, South Carolina, United States. Its population was 6,173 at the 2020 census.

Startex is a census-designated place (CDP) in Spartanburg County, South Carolina, United States. The population was 859 at the 2010 census. The area was originally known as Tucapau, named after the mill that was built there in 1896. In 1936, Walter Montgomery Sr. bought the mill and changed its name to Startex—the brand name of household textiles produced at the plant. The mill ceased operations in 1998 and was mostly dismantled in 1999.

McMakin's Tavern, also known as the Morgan-Stewart House, is a historic stagecoach stop and plantation home located near Lyman, Spartanburg County, South Carolina. It was built about 1790, and is a two-story, clapboard single house with gable end chimneys. It features a one-story, full width veranda supported by square columns. The interior features elaborately carved woodwork in the Adam style. The house operated as a stagecoach stop in the early-19th century.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1974.

New Hope Farm, also known as New Hope Post Office and Snoddy Farm, is a historic farm complex located at Wellford, Spartanburg County, South Carolina. The main house was built in 1885, and is a one-story farmhouse with Folk Victorian decorative elements. It features a steeply-pitched pressed metal-shingled roof, weatherboard siding, and a wraparound hip-roofed porch. Also on the property is a complex of domestic and agricultural outbuildings dating from about 1885 to 1905. They include a small two-story frame servant's house, a smokehouse, a privy, a corn crib, a buggy barn and a garage.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1999.

In addition to the South Carolina manufacturing facility, BMW's North American companies include sales, marketing, design, and financial services operations in the United States, Mexico, Canada, and Latin America. The North American headquarters for its large financial services subsidiary is located in Dublin, Ohio and is responsible for the captive lending for BMW automotive, BMW Motorsport, and Rolls-Royce cars, when buyers lease the vehicles or decide to finance directly with the company.

The Apalache Mill, now the Lofts by the Lake, is a historic textile mill at 2200 Racing Road in Apalache, South Carolina. The main mill building, a three-story brick building with plain late-19th century styling, sits at the southern end of Apalachee Lake, created by damming the Tyger River at a narrow gorge just to the east. Built in 1888, it is one of the first mills to be built in the Spartanburg area, and remained in active service until 2007.The mill was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2015. The listing includes the mill and associated water power infrastructure, including a water tower and the lake.
