The Xavier Institute of Engineering (XIE), a sister institution of St. Xavier College, Mumbai, Fort, is an engineering college in central Mumbai, established in the year 2005 to give a quality technical education to all, with a preferential option for economically backward and Christians . The institute is managed by the Society of Jesus, Jesuits, and is affiliated to Mumbai University, approved by AICTE New Delhi, and recognized by Directorate of Technical Education, Government of Maharashtra . XIE is a member of AJIT, the Association of Jesuit Institutes of Technology and IAJES (International Association of Jesuit Engineering Schools) . It is accredited by National Assessment and Accreditation Council of India . Since XIE is affiliated to Mumbai University, it follows its syllabus and examination system. It began in the early 1930s as a technical institute on the premises of St. Xavier College, Mumbai providing basic professional courses . In 2005 it became a polytechnic founded in Mahim, near what was called "Fishermen's Colony", a fifteen-minute walk from the Mahim Junction Railroad Station. At the same time, the Xavier Institute of Engineering (XIE) was started on the same premises.XIE offers an undergraduate degree course in Engineering (B.E.) in Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering (60 seats), Computer Engineering (60 seats), and Information Technology (60 seats) . There is one-year diploma course in Sound Engineering (20 seats). In collaboration with Marquette University, XIE has set up the "Gait Lab", where a person's walk is captured in 3-D imaging and to which Government hospitals are sending children to seek help as it is the only lab in Mumbai City .

St. Xavier's Technical Institute (founded in 1937) is an electronics school in Mumbai, India. It is part of the Jesuit family of schools and began operations on the premises of St. Xavier's College, Mumbai. It was transferred to its own building in Mahim in June 1969. It was previously known as the Abdulla Fazalbhoy Technical Institute for Radio and Cinema.

The Mahim Causeway is a vital link road connecting South Mumbai with its northern suburbs. The causeway links the neighbourhoods of Mahim to the south with Bandra to the north. The Mahim Causeway was built between 1841 and 1846 to connect the island of Salsette with Mahim. The swampy area between the two islands made travel dangerous and thus a need for a causeway arose. The British East India Company, who governed Bombay at that time, refused to fund the project. This led Lady Jeejeebhoy, wife of the first baronet Sir Jamsetjee Jeejeebhoy, to donate the entire amount of Rs.1,57,000/- on the condition that the government would not charge a toll for its use or disturb the Koli community who lived around the areaThe Mahim causeway forms the link between Swami Vivekanand Road and L.J.Road, being the stretch between Bandra masjid and Mahim church (St. Michael's). It is not to be confused with the Bandra-Worli Sea Link, a major infrastructural project opened on 30 June 2009 which is designed to ease traffic across the causeway by building another bridge across the Mahim Bay.

Bandra (Pronunciation: [bæːɳɖɾa]) also known as Vandre (Pronunciation: [ʋaːn̪d̪ɾe]) is an upscale coastal suburb located in Mumbai, India. The suburb is located to the immediate north of the Mithi River, which separates Bandra from Mumbai City district. It is the third-largest commercial hub in Maharashtra, after Mumbai & Pune, primarily aided by the Bandra Kurla Complex.Originally, Bandra was larger in size when present day Khar was also a part of it. Almost a century ago, it was considered too large a suburb to be served by one railway station. Therefore, the Khar Road railway station was established in 1924, to give the northern part of Bandra closer access to the Western Railway line. This eventually led to Khar being considered a separate suburb. But to this day, the two adjoined suburbs make up one homogenous zone. Mumbai Suburban district (Marathi: Mumbai Upanagar Jilhā; previously Bombay Suburban district) is the second most populous district of Maharashtra in the Konkan Division. With its administrative headquarters in Bandra, the district consists of three subdivisions or tehsils (townships): Kurla, Andheri, and Borivali. The Lilavati Hospital and Research Centre is a private hospital located in Bandra, Mumbai, India. The hospital was established in 1978 by the Lilavati Kirtilal Mehta Medical Trust.

Bandra Talao locally referred to as Swami Vivekanand Talao is a small lake located in Bandra, Mumbai. The lake was formerly known as Lotus Tank and is a Grade II heritage structure. The lake was also called "Motha Sarovar" and was constructed by a rich Konkani Muslim of Navpada (also spelt Naupada or Naopara), an adjoining village. It is spread across 7.5 acres.The maintenance of the lake was later turned over to the Municipal Corporation of Greater Mumbai and renamed Swami Vivekanand Sarovar. Paddle boating facilities and pisciculture activities were operational in this lake during the 1990s. It is 200 years old.
