La Loma Hills

KFOO (1440 AM) is a commercial radio station that is licensed to Riverside, California and broadcasts to the Riverside—San Bernardino, California area. The station is owned by iHeartMedia and airs an all-news radio format as an affiliate of Black Information Network. The KFOO studios are located in Riverside and the transmitter tower is in Colton along the Santa Ana River.

La Placita (originally: La Placita de los Trujillos; alternate: San Salvador) is a former settlement and the earliest community established in Riverside County, California, USA. The town was informally established soon after 1843 on the Santa Ana River, across from the town of Agua Mansa. La Placita and Agua Mansa were the first non-native settlements in the San Bernardino Valley. Together, they were referred to as "San Salvador", and were the largest settlements between New Mexico and Los Angeles in the 1840s.

Agua Mansa ("gentle water") is a former settlement in an unincorporated area of San Bernardino County, near Colton, California, United States. Once the largest settlement in San Bernardino County, it is now a ghost town. Only the cemetery remains.The town was established in 1842 in early California Alta California. It was on the Santa Ana River, across from the era settlement of La Placita. Agua Mansa and La Placita were the first non-native settlements in the San Bernardino Valley. Together known as "San Salvador", they were also the largest settlements between Santa Fe de Nuevo México and the Pueblo de Los Ángeles in the 1840s.

Highgrove is a census-designated place (CDP) and an unincorporated community in Riverside County, California, United States. The population was 3,988 at the 2010 census, up from 3,445 at the 2000 census. The latest 2020 census shows 7,515 total population, an 88.4% increase from last 2010 census, which makes it the fastest-growing location in entire Riverside County.The city of Riverside, California has plans to annex Highgrove in the near future. Currently at Spring Mountain Ranch community, Avalon, Cambria, and Sonoma (all opening by February 2022) are the three, newest largest master-planned communities being built at the Highgrove eastside area. Soon, Compass and Pinnacle at Summit Canyon by PulteGroup, at the south-east corner-end of Highgrove on the higher-elevation foothill, will open in late-2023. These are the only known, brand-new homes currently available for sale, closer to Downtown Riverside and University of California, Riverside campus. In addition, 846 new urban-style townhomes by Lennar, plus its first new retail store in the area, will begin construction in 2023, next to the elementary school. While unofficial, Highgrove is known as the "Riverside Strip" or Riverside red-light district, similar to the Las Vegas Strip in unincorporated Paradise, NV, located on the Iowa Avenue stretch. A few smoke/weed shops are opened now to attract tourists. Some investors see Highgrove as the future tourist spot for a new Riverside Chinatown Plaza or a boutique "strip" entertainment retail/hotel resort on Iowa Ave. and Main St. intersection, adjacent to the 215 freeway, at an undetermined build date. Other suggestions include a Mission Revival, Balinese, Scottish, or Roman-architecture retail/hotel/concert-venue entertainment resort. This community publishes its own newsletter, Highgrove Happenings, each month, since 1994.

Slover Mountain (Mount Slover, Marble Mountain) is a former mountain in Colton, in southwestern San Bernardino County and the Inland Empire region of Southern California. Now a hill, it was surface mined for limestone in the 20th century. The Colton Joint Unified School District's continuation high school is named after the mountain.The mountain was known as Tahualtapa ("raven hill") by Native Americans and Cerrito Solo ("little solitary hill") by the colonial Spanish.

Grand Terrace is a city in San Bernardino County, California, United States. The population was 12,040 at the 2010 census, up from 11,626 at the 2000 census. Grand Terrace is located between Highgrove and Colton, along the I-215 and Agua Mansa industrial corridors. The city is located between two mountain ridges: Blue Mountain to the east and the La Loma Hills to the west.

Rancho Jurupa was a 40,569-acre (164.18 km2) Mexican land grant in California, United States, that is divided by the present-day counties of Riverside and San Bernardino. The land was granted to Juan Bandini by Governor Juan B. Alvarado in 1838. Located along both banks of the Santa Ana River in southern California, the rancho included much of the land in the present day city of Jurupa Valley, as well as the downtown area in the city of Riverside.

Colton Crossing is a railway crossing situated in Colton, California, directly south of Interstate 10. First built in 1883, it was the site of one of the most intense frog wars in railroad construction history, leading to a personal confrontation between famed lawman Virgil Earp and California Governor Robert Waterman. The crossing was the intersection of the tracks for the Atchison, Topeka and Santa Fe (ATSF) and Southern Pacific (SP) railroads. The tracks are now owned by the SP's and the ATSF's successors, the Union Pacific (UP) and the Burlington Northern Santa Fe (BNSF) railroads respectively. The UP tracks run east–west at the crossing while the BNSF tracks run north–south (the BNSF tracks eventually head west to Los Angeles and Long Beach, parallel to the UP tracks). Metrolink trains and Amtrak's Southwest Chief use the BNSF tracks through the crossing while Amtrak's Sunset Limited utilize the UP tracks. The UP tracks come from the east through the Coachella Valley and into the yard in West Colton (onwards to Los Angeles). On the other hand, the BNSF tracks from the indirect west (Los Angeles) and direct south (Riverside and Corona) continue through the crossing and on to the yard in San Bernardino, which then head up north to Cajon Pass and eventually Barstow on the journey to Chicago.

Colton High School is an American public high school in Colton, California. It is located just north of Interstate 10 at Rancho Avenue. Colton High School opened in 1895 as the first High School of the Colton School District. It is one of five High Schools in the district. The school draws students from the city of Colton, as well as Grand Terrace and a small section of San Bernardino. The school is identified as a national AVID demonstration school, and was named a 2011 AP District of the Year in the midsize category by the College Board. Out of 1240 high schools in California, Colton ranks 1139 placing it in lowest 10%.

Riverside–Hunter Park/UCR station is a train station in Riverside, California, United States, that opened on June 6, 2016, along with the 91/Perris Valley Line extension of the Metrolink commuter rail system. It is located in the Hunter Park neighborhood of Riverside and about 3 miles (4.8 km) north of the campus of the University of California, Riverside, after which the station is named. Despite being named after UCR, there are no buses between the campus and this station. Instead the university recommends that students use Riverside–Downtown station and take Riverside Transit Agency route 1 to campus. Original plans for the extension called for a station adjacent to the campus, but the plan was scrapped after local residents raised concerns about parking and noise.Riverside–Hunter Park/UCR station is served by 10 Metrolink 91/Perris Valley Line trains (5 in each direction) each weekday, running primarily at peak hours in the peak direction of travel. Weekend service consists of 4 trains (2 in each direction) on both Saturday and Sunday, running westbound in the morning and eastbound in the evening.

Arrowhead Regional Medical Center (ARMC) is a teaching hospital located in Colton, California, within Southern California's Inland Empire. ARMC is owned and operated by the County of San Bernardino. The emergency department (ED) at ARMC is the second busiest ED in the state of California. The hospital operates ten different residency training programs. In the most recent year with available data, the hospital had 24,441 admissions, performed 6,483 inpatient and 5,367 outpatient surgeries, and 254,000 outpatient visits. Arrowhead Regional Medical Center is accredited by the American Osteopathic Association's Healthcare Facilities Accreditation Program, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, and is certified by the American College of Surgeons as a Level I trauma center.

The Colton Carnegie Library is a Carnegie library located at 380 North La Cadena Drive in Colton, California. The library was built in 1908 through a $10,000 grant from the Carnegie Foundation. Architect Franklin P. Burnham designed the Neoclassical building, the only example of the style in Colton. The building features an entrance portico supported by Ionic columns, a frieze and ornamented pediment above the entrance, and pilasters at the corners. In addition to housing the city's collection of over 1,000 books, the library hosted community meetings and social groups and even served as a church. The library moved to a larger building in 1982, and the building now houses the Colton Area Museum.The building was added to the National Register of Historic Places on June 3, 1988.
