Colton High School (California)

Colton Crossing is a railway crossing situated in Colton, California, directly south of Interstate 10. First built in 1883, it was the site of one of the most intense frog wars in railroad construction history, leading to a personal confrontation between famed lawman Virgil Earp and California Governor Robert Waterman. The crossing was the intersection of the tracks for the Atchison, Topeka and Santa Fe (ATSF) and Southern Pacific (SP) railroads. The tracks are now owned by the SP's and the ATSF's successors, the Union Pacific (UP) and the Burlington Northern Santa Fe (BNSF) railroads respectively. The UP tracks run east–west at the crossing while the BNSF tracks run north–south (the BNSF tracks eventually head west to Los Angeles and Long Beach, parallel to the UP tracks). Metrolink trains and Amtrak's Southwest Chief use the BNSF tracks through the crossing while Amtrak's Sunset Limited utilize the UP tracks. The UP tracks come from the east through the Coachella Valley and into the yard in West Colton (onwards to Los Angeles). On the other hand, the BNSF tracks from the indirect west (Los Angeles) and direct south (Riverside and Corona) continue through the crossing and on to the yard in San Bernardino, which then head up north to Cajon Pass and eventually Barstow on the journey to Chicago.

Slover Mountain (Mount Slover, Marble Mountain) is a former mountain in Colton, in southwestern San Bernardino County and the Inland Empire region of Southern California. Now a hill, it was surface mined for limestone in the 20th century. The Colton Joint Unified School District's continuation high school is named after the mountain.The mountain was known as Tahualtapa ("raven hill") by Native Americans and Cerrito Solo ("little solitary hill") by the colonial Spanish.

The Colton Carnegie Library is a Carnegie library located at 380 North La Cadena Drive in Colton, California. The library was built in 1908 through a $10,000 grant from the Carnegie Foundation. Architect Franklin P. Burnham designed the Neoclassical building, the only example of the style in Colton. The building features an entrance portico supported by Ionic columns, a frieze and ornamented pediment above the entrance, and pilasters at the corners. In addition to housing the city's collection of over 1,000 books, the library hosted community meetings and social groups and even served as a church. The library moved to a larger building in 1982, and the building now houses the Colton Area Museum.The building was added to the National Register of Historic Places on June 3, 1988.

Arrowhead Regional Medical Center (ARMC) is a teaching hospital located in Colton, California, within Southern California's Inland Empire. ARMC is owned and operated by the County of San Bernardino. The emergency department (ED) at ARMC is the second busiest ED in the state of California. The hospital operates ten different residency training programs. In the most recent year with available data, the hospital had 24,441 admissions, performed 6,483 inpatient and 5,367 outpatient surgeries, and 254,000 outpatient visits. Arrowhead Regional Medical Center is accredited by the American Osteopathic Association's Healthcare Facilities Accreditation Program, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, and is certified by the American College of Surgeons as a Level I trauma center.

The California University of Science and Medicine (CUSM) School of Medicine is an accredited medical school located in Colton, California/San Bernardino, San Bernardino County, United States. CUSM received preliminary LCME accreditation in February 2018, and enrolled students for classes conferring an M.D. degree beginning July 2018. The new CUSM campus, completed in 2020, has two lecture halls, nine college rooms, 15 clinical skills rooms and three labs. More than 2,400 students applied to CUSM's inaugural class, with 64 students enrolling in the class of 2022. In 2019, more than 5,300 students applied to CUSM, with 98 students enrolling in the class of 2023. In 2020, more than 5,300 students applied to CUSM, with 130 students enrolling in the class of 2024. The average GPA of accepted students is 3.6, with an average MCAT score of 513.The California University of Science and Medicine currently is affiliated with Arrowhead Regional Medical Center as the primary teaching hospital. The majority of the students in the class of 2022 (80%), class of 2023 (80%), and class of 2024 (98%) comes from California.

Colton is a city in San Bernardino County, California, United States. Nicknamed "Hub City", Colton is located in the Inland Empire region of the state and is a suburb of San Bernardino, approximately 4 miles (6.4 km) south of the city's downtown. The population of Colton is 52,154 according to the 2010 census, up from 47,662 at the 2000 census. Colton is the site of Colton Crossing, which was one of the busiest at-grade railroad crossings in the United States. The crossing was installed in 1882 by the California Southern Railroad to cross the Southern Pacific Railroad tracks while building northward from San Diego. As a result of railroad acquisitions and mergers, this became the point at which the Burlington Northern Santa Fe's "Southern Transcontinental Route" crossed the Union Pacific's "Sunset Route". As traffic on each line began to soar in the mid-1990s, fueled largely by the vast increase in imports passing through the ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach, the primitive crossing became a serious bottleneck. On August 28, 2013, the at-grade crossing was officially replaced by a fly-over that raises the east–west UP tracks over the north–south BNSF tracks. Despite its status as a railroad town, Colton does not have passenger rail service. Passenger trains operated by Amtrak and Metrolink pass through Colton but do not stop there.

Bunker Hill is a bluff in the City of San Bernardino in San Bernardino County, California. Bunker Hill trends northwest–southeast from 34°05′19″N 117°18′18″W through the campus of San Bernardino Valley College on the northeast to 34°04′46″N 117°18′6″W where it overlooks Lytle Creek on the southeast. Its tallest point is over 1080 feet at the top of a ridge marking its southwest facing edge at 34°05′04″N 117°18′33″W the top of a ridge, just south of Grant Avenue, that overlooks the southern parking lot of the college. Bunker Hill gives its name to the neighborhood of the city of San Bernardino in the vicinity of this feature.

San Bernardino Valley College is a public community college in San Bernardino, California. It is accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges. The college has an enrollment of 17,044 students and covers 82 acres (33 ha). Valley College is also a part of the San Bernardino Community College District which includes Crafton Hills College located in nearby Yucaipa and the Professional Development Center in San Bernardino.

Rialto High School is a public high school located in San Bernardino, California that opened in September 1992. It is operated by the Rialto Unified School District, and is a member of the San Andreas. The name of the school's student-run newspaper is The Medieval Times. The current principal is Dr. Caroline Sweeney.

Politana or Apolitana was the first Spanish settlement in the San Bernardino Valley of California. It was established as a mission chapel and supply station by the Mission San Gabriel in the a rancheria of the Guachama Indians that lived on the bluff that is now known as Bunker Hill, near Lytle Creek. Besides the Guachama, it was also at various times the home for colonists from New Mexico and Cahuilla people. Its most prominent landmark today is the St. Prophet Elias Greek Orthodox Church on Colton Avenue, just southwest of the Inland Center Mall, in San Bernardino, California. The site is said to be named for a "faithful Indian convert, Hipolito."

KEZY (1240 AM) is a radio station broadcasting a Spanish language Christian format. Licensed to San Bernardino, California, United States, the station is currently owned by Hi-Favor Broadcasting, LLC.KEZY and its sister stations KLTX and KSDO serve Southern California with Spanish Christian programming, and are branded Radio Inspiración.

KTIE (590 AM, "AM 590 The Answer") is a commercial radio station licensed to San Bernardino, California. It is owned by the Salem Media Group, with studios on University Avenue in Riverside, California, and it airs a conservative talk radio format. The station serves the Inland Empire of California, including San Bernardino, Riverside, Redlands and Lake Arrowhead. By day, KTIE broadcasts at 2,500 watts, but to avoid interference with other stations on 590 AM at night, it reduces power to 960 watts. KTIE has a directional signal, heard in San Bernardino County, Riverside County and parts of Orange County. KTIE transmits using a three-tower array, on Auto Center Drive West in San Bernardino.
