Clipstone in north Nottinghamshire is a small ex-coal mining village built on the site of an old army base and close to the site of a medieval royal palace. The population of the civil parish was 3,469 at the 2001 census, increasing to 4,665 at the 2011 census.

Kings Clipstone is a settlement and civil parish, in the Newark and Sherwood district, in the county of Nottinghamshire, England. The parish lies in the west of the county, and north west within the district. It is 122 miles north of London, 15 miles north of the city of Nottingham, and 5 miles north east of the market town of Mansfield. In 2011 the parish had a population of 318. The parish touches Clipstone village, Edwinstowe, Rufford and Warsop. The parish was formerly part of the wider Clipstone parish, on 1 April 2011 it became a separate parish. The area is within Sherwood Forest, well known for the Robin Hood legend.

The Garibaldi School (formerly Garibaldi College) is a co-educational secondary school and sixth form built in the 1960s. It is situated near to the edge Clipstone village, Nottinghamshire (part of Newark and Sherwood District Council administrative area) but lies within Mansfield District Council's Newlands electoral ward and teaches young people from Clipstone and the Forest Town area of Mansfield. It provides pupils from 11-16 with a GCSE education and 16 to 18 year-olds with an advanced GCE or VCE education through their sixth form.

Clipstone Football Club is a football club based in Clipstone, Nottinghamshire, England. They are currently members of the United Counties League Division One and play at the Lido Ground.

Clipstone Colliery was a coal mine in the village of Clipstone, Nottinghamshire, part of the area known as The Dukeries. The colliery opened in 1922 and operated until 2003. It was built by the Bolsover Colliery Company, transferred to the National Coal Board in 1947, then operated by RJB Mining from 1994. The headstocks and powerhouse are grade II listed buildings so have been preserved.

King John's Palace is the remains of a former medieval royal residence in Clipstone, north-west Nottinghamshire. The name "King John's Palace" has been used since the 18th century; prior to that the site was known as the "King's Houses". It is not known how or when the building became associated with King John as he only spent a total of nine days here. The earliest reference to the King's Houses dates back to 1164 during the reign of Henry II (1154–1189). The first period of significant building took place between 1176 and 1180, when Henry ordered £500 to be spent, and also created a deer park at Clipstone. Hunting game was the preserve of the aristocracy and deer parks provided a form of recreation, foodstuffs for feasting and an arena for crucial political and economic deals to be made. In 1194 Richard I arranged a meeting with William, King of Scots at Clipstone, and in 1290, Edward I convened Parliament here. The King's Houses were once very well-appointed. The ruins that are visible today are the remains of a Romanesque chamber dating from around 1180. The stone chamber was accessed through a large, buttressed central doorway and had a timber upper floor which allowed views over the deer park from ornately carved windows. However, the chamber was only a small part of a large, multiphased complex of buildings which is known to have existed at Clipstone from documents, geophysical survey and archaeological excavation. These included a gatehouse, tower, individual hall and chambers for the King and Queen, several chapels, kitchens, stables for 200 horses, and lodgings for many royal retainers. There was also a Great Pond which provided 100 pike and 1600 roach during Edward II's visit in December 1315. Clipstone remained an important royal centre until the late fifteenth century when the English monarchy began to focus on other residences. In 1525 it was said of the King's Houses that "ther is great dekay & ruyne in stone-work tymber lede and plaster". By the mid-18th century, the site had been reduced to the ruin that stands today. King John's Palace was consolidated during 2009 by Paul Mendham Stonemasons during a conservation project funded by English Heritage and Nottinghamshire County Council. The site is the focus of an ongoing archaeological project by Andy Gaunt of Mercian Archaeological Services and the buildings archaeologist James Wright.

Clipstone Colliery Sidings railway station was a station in Clipstone, Nottinghamshire.While primarily a goods station, there was an unadvertised halt used by workmen. It was on the former Lancashire, Derbyshire and East Coast Railway line and is listed in Butt as Clipstone Colliery Sidings.A large concentration of sidings around Kings Clipstone and the worker's halt at New Clipstone village both served the Clipstone, Mansfield, Thoresby, Ollerton, Welbeck and Rainworth collieries for several decades.Clipstone Sidings signalbox was existent on 21 October 1950 and was near Clipstone West Junction, heading towards Welbeck Junction.Clipstone East signalbox was existent in the 1960s on the 'main-line' between Welbeck Junction and Thoresby Junction.The Midland Loaded Sidings of Clipstone Colliery were still in regular use on 23 June 1972 Both Clipstone West junction and Clipstone colliery Junction and closed on 14 July 1986.The pit closed in April 2003.Clipstone Sidings signalbox, Clipstone West Junction and Welbeck Junction no longer exist

Warsop is a town and civil parish in the Mansfield district, Nottinghamshire, England, on the outskirts of the remnants of Sherwood Forest. At the 2001 census it had a population of 12,365, reducing to 11,999 at the 2011 Census including Church Warsop, Meden Vale, Sookholme and Spion Kop

Thynghowe was an important Viking Era open-air assembly place or thing, located at Sherwood Forest, in Nottinghamshire, England. It was lost to history until its rediscovery in 2005 by the husband and wife team of Stuart Reddish and Lynda Mallett, local history enthusiasts.The assembly mound is at Hanger Hill, close to a parish boundary stone. As a result of continued research, Thynghowe is now included on the English Historic England Archive.

Meden School is a mixed secondary school and sixth form in Market Warsop, Nottinghamshire, England, with 860 pupils at the Ofsted report of 2014, of which 116 were sixth-formers. The school is a member of the Nova Education Trust, which includes Birklands Primary in Warsop.

Warsop Town Hall is a municipal building in Church Street in Warsop, Nottinghamshire, England. The building is home to Warsop Parish Council, and was formerly the offices of Warsop Urban District Council and the local offices of Nottinghamshire County Council.

Church Warsop is a village in Nottinghamshire, England. It is located 1 mile north of Warsop and is within the Warsop civil parish. The parish church of St Peter and St Paul is early Norman.The village was built in the 1926 by the Staveley Coal and Iron Company to house colliery workers and their families working at their Warsop Main Colliery located in nearby Warsop Vale. There is also a second church, the "Chapel of Bethlem", from the same date as much of the village.
