NSS Law College is the first self-financing law college in Kottiyam, Kollam, Kerala. It is the first venture by Nair Service Society in the field of legal education. The college is affiliated to the University of Kerala and has recognition from Bar Council of India. The registration code for college in the university is NKL.

Thattamala is a neighbourhood situated at the southeast border of Kollam city in state of Kerala, India. It is situated at National Highways – NH 66 (Earlier NH 47). Kerala Police have identified Thattamala as one of the traffic black spots in the state. Thattamala was a part of old Vadakkevila panchayath before the constitution of Kollam as a city. In 2000, Kollam was upgraded by the Government of Kerala as the 4th Municipal Corporation of Kerala by merging Vadakkevila, Kilikollur, Sakthikulangara and Eravipuram panchayaths with Kollam Municipality.

N. S. Memorial Institute of Medical Sciences (NSMIMS) is a co-operative hospital located at Palathara in Kollam, India. It was founded in 2000 in memory of N. Sreedharan (died 1985), a communist organizer who was a member of the secretariat of the Communist Party of India (Marxist). This is the first Co-operative Multi Super Specialty Hospital in South Kerala. The hospital has 32 specialty departments and 95 doctors including 25 post graduate doctors and more than 950 medical and paramedical staff. It has a full range of services.

Mukhathala is a small town and block panchayat in Kollam district of Kerala, India. As an important area in Kollam, the region is rich in agriculture products like, cashew nuts, coconuts, tapioca, pepper, areca, vegetables and most importantly, paddy. The region holds ‘Perumkulam ela' (second largest paddy field in the state). This famous Sree krishna swami temple held the prominent position under the rule of Desinganadu king. This temple is approximately three thousand years old! The temple is situated in the 'Thrikkovilvattom' village on the Kollam- Kulathoorpuzha state highway side, nearly Eight kilometers from the Kollam town.

Mayyanad is a village in Kollam district in the state of Kerala, India. Mayyanad is located in the south western suburbs of Kollam district, Kollam city about 10 kilometres (6.2 mi) south of the city centre and 6 kilometres (3.7 mi) north of Paravur Town. Mayyanad can be reached by frequent buses from Kollam city and Kottiyam town and by local train from Kollam and Thiruvananthapuram. The bridge connecting Mayyanad and Paravur was completed in 2012, making travel to Kollam city easier.

Nedungolam or Nedumgolam is the Northern border town of Paravur municipality in the Kollam district of Kerala state, India. Nedungolam is very near to the world-famous-wetland in Kollam district, Polachira, which is a favorite destination for migratory birds. A census conducted on 2003 reveals that over 26,000 birds belonging to 37 species are visiting or living in the Polachira wetlands.
