Thiru Aarattu Madannada, Mylakkadu

Ithikkara is a place in Kollam district, Kerala, India, about 12 km from Kollam city. It received its name from Ithikkara River. The Ithikkara River originates from the low hills situated near Madathuri kunnu at about +240 m above M.S.L and from the hills located south-west of Kulathupuzha. The Vattapparambu stream and the Kunduman thodu are its important tributaries. The latter joins the Ithikkara at Plakkadu about 200 m upstream of Ithikkara Bridge on N.H.47. The river has a north-westerly course up to the Irattur Malai from where it flows west up to Pampira and then takes a more or less south-westerly course till its exits into the Paravur Kayal near Meenad. The river passes through the villages of Channapetta, Alayamon, Vayala, Pampira, Ayur, Thiruvambhagam, Atturkonam and Adichanallore. Kottiyam, Chathannoor and Chadayamangalam are some of the important places in the basin. The river has a length of 56 km and a catchment area of 642 km2. The complete catchment lies within the state. Ithikkara Block Panchayath – On 1 April 1961, Ithikkara Block Panchayath was established. It has following panchayaths: Poothakkulam, Kalluvathukkal, Chathannoor, Nedumpana, and Adichanallur.

St George Orthodox Church, Chathannoor, known locally as Chathannoor Valiya Palli, is a parish of the Thiruvananthapuram (Trivandrum) Diocese of the Malankara Orthodox Syrian Church. "Chathannoor Marthamariyam Suriyani Pally," as it was called in the ancient days, was built around AD 1755. One of the largest churches in South Kerala, it is the oldest church in Chathannoor and mother church to the churches in the Chathannoor region. Notable works in the church include a mural featuring the patron, Saint George (Geevarghese Sahada), dating to 1792; the Chathannoor Panchangam, which has entries in Tamil and Malayalam; and a picture of a Mass in 1861 by Lt. Col. Stevenson of the British Army of Geevarghese Yakoob Kattanar offering up his sword.

Polachira is a wetland spread over 600 hectares located near Paravur Municipality in Kollam District of Kerala, India. Formerly part of the Chathannoor Grama Panchayath, it is now located in the Chirakkara Grama Panchayath. Polachira is about 2 km south of Chathannoor town and 9 km north east of Paravur town. Chathannoor-Polachira-Ozhukupara Bund Across Road is the main access to Paravoor.
