Sorgue

Bédarrides (French pronunciation: [bedaʁid]; Provençal: Bedarrida) is a commune in the Vaucluse department in the Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur region in southeastern France.

The canton of Bédarrides is a French former administrative division in the department of Vaucluse and region Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur. It had 39,677 inhabitants (2012). It was disbanded following the French canton reorganisation which came into effect in March 2015.

The river Ouvèze, a tributary of the Rhône, as well as its tributary Sorgue, which begins at the Fontaine de Vaucluse, run through the commune. Château Fortia is a French wine producing estate in the Châteauneuf-du-Pape region of the Rhône Valley. With a history dating back to the eighteenth century (on land that has been producing wine since at least the fourteenth century), Château Fortia has long been a notable producer in the southern Rhône. The Ouvèze (French pronunciation: [uvɛz]; Occitan: Ovesa) is a river in southern France and left tributary of the Rhône. It rises in the southern French Prealps (the Baronnies), in the commune of Montauban-sur-l'Ouvèze. It flows into the Rhône in Sorgues, north of Avignon. Its length is 93 km (58 mi). Its drainage basin is 1,919 km2 (741 sq mi). The Sorgue is one of its tributaries.
