Centreville Layton School

Layton Preparatory School is a private preparatory school opened in 2005 in Centreville, Delaware, United States. Layton Preparatory School is a member of the Student Union, an organization also including Tower Hill School, Tatnall School, Archmere Academy, Sanford School, and Wilmington Friends School. It is accredited by the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools.

Mt. Airy No. 27 School is a historic one-room school built in 1863 in Centreville, New Castle County, Delaware. It was designed and built as a one-room, one-teacher school, and operated as such from 1863 to 1932. It is now used as a private residence. A gable-roofed portico stands in front of the entrance, with a small bell tower or cupola on the main roof just above it. Three large six-over-six windows are on each side of the building. In 1983, at the same time the school was listed the Centreville Historic District, the Joseph Chandler House, and Carpenter-Lippincott House, all located nearby, were also listed.

The Joseph Chandler House, built c. 1800, is the oldest house in Centreville, New Castle County, Delaware. Centreville developed along the Kennett Pike (Delaware Route 52) starting about 1811, with its houses facing toward the pike. Nevertheless, the Chandler house faces south, away from the pike. Dr. Joseph P. Chandler, who built the house, used it as a residence and an office. The house was later acquired by the Gregg, Carpenter and du Pont families. William S. Potter bought the house in 1935 and added brick and stone wings to the original stone house.The house was listed by the National Register of Historic Places in 1983, at the same time the nearby Centreville Historic District, Mt. Airy School No. 27, and Carpenter-Lippincott House were also listed.

Centreville Historic District is a national historic district located at Centreville, New Castle County, Delaware. It encompasses 15 contributing buildings and were built between 1820 and 1920. It is primarily a residential district. Notable buildings include the Dr. Joseph H. Chandler House, Chandler-Dixon House, Nichols House, the M. J. Furey House, the R. T. Carey House, the Rev. D. W. Moore House, the Mrs. R. Todd House, and the Odd Fellows Hall.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1983.

Carpenter-Lippincott House is a historic home located at Centreville, New Castle County, Delaware. It was built about 1840, and is a three-story, stuccoed stone dwelling in the Italianate-style. It consists of two, well-defined rectangular blocks. The main block is surmounted by a square cupola on its low-hipped roof with projecting eaves and it features an enclosed porch with cast iron lattice work.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1983.

The Greenville Country Club, formerly known as the Owl's Nest Country Place, is a country club at 201 Owl's Nest Road in Greenville, Delaware. The 18-acre (7.3 ha) property was developed in 1915 by Eugene du Pont, Jr., son of Eugene du Pont, as a country estate. It was one of the first major estates to be built by members of the Du Pont family in northern Delaware. The main house and three outbuildings were designed by Harrie T. Lindeberg in the Tudor Revival style, and were built in 1915. The estate's grounds were landscaped by Franklin Meehan and William Warner Parker. In 1928 an Ellen Shipman-designed boxwood garden was added to the grounds. The estate has been home to the Greenville Country Club since 1961.The property was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2010.

The Harlan Log House, also known as "The Log House," was built about 1715 by Joshua Harlan, is a well-preserved example of an English-style log cabin near Kennett Square, in Kennett Township, Chester County, Pennsylvania, United States. It is about a half mile west of the hamlet of Fairville. Joshua Harlan was the son of George Harlan, who arrived in Pennsylvania in 1687. Joshua was born in 1696 and was the cousin of the George Harlan, who built the Harlan House, about 12 miles north about 1724. Both houses are listed in the National Register of Historic Places. The core of the house was built about 1715 as a two-story square (26 feet by 26 feet) cabin. Although English settlers modelled their log cabins on the examples of Swedish settlers, the English versions were square rather than rectangular. An 1815 stone addition measures 19 feet by 15 feet, with a modern addition attached to the stone addition.It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1987.

Fairville, Pennsylvania is an unincorporated area in southern Chester County which developed in the early nineteenth century about a mile north of the Pennsylvania-Delaware border. It is a linear village along the Kennett Pike (Pennsylvania Route 52) that runs between Kennett Square, Pennsylvania and Wilmington, Delaware. Businesses along the road served both travelers on the road and residents of nearby farms. The village or hamlet extends about 500 yards along both sides of Kennett Pike from Fairville Road to Hickory Hills Road.About 1900 Phillip DuPont built a mansion just south of Fairville Road. It is included in the defined Fairville Historic District, which was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1996. The Harlan Log House, which was built about 1715, is about a half mile west of the village on Fairville Road.

Centre Meeting and Schoolhouse, also known as Centre Meeting of Religious Society of Friends, is a historic Quaker meeting house and school located on Center Meeting Road in Centerville, New Castle County, Delaware. It was built in 1796 and is rectangular brick building with pitched roof and brick chimney at either end. Sheds are attached to the east and west sides. The school house was built by the Friends for their children and those of the community. It is square with a pitched roof and a lunette in the gable toward the west.It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1971.

Mendenhall is an unincorporated community in Kennett Township in Chester County, Pennsylvania, United States. Mendenhall is located at the intersection of Pennsylvania Route 52 and Hillendale Road.
