Midwestern University (MWU) is a private medical and professional school with campuses in Downers Grove, Illinois and Glendale, Arizona. As of the 2020–21 academic year, a total of 2,987 students were enrolled at the Downers Grove campus and 3,902 were enrolled at the Glendale campus. Founded in 1900 as the American College of Osteopathic Medicine and Surgery, the Chicago College of Osteopathic Medicine is the fourth-oldest medical school currently active in Illinois. Over the years, the university expanded, adding additional degrees and programs; in 1993, the school united these programs under the name Midwestern University. In 1995, the school opened a campus in Glendale, Arizona, becoming the second and largest medical school to teach students in the state. The university is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission and the medical schools are also accredited by the American Osteopathic Association's Commission on Osteopathic College Accreditation.

The Metropolitan Library System (MLS) was an association of academic, public, school, and special libraries in Chicago and its suburbs in Cook, DuPage and Will counties. On July 1, 2011, Metropolitan Library System merged with Alliance Library System, DuPage Library System, North Suburban Library System, and Prairie Area Library System to form the Reaching Across Illinois Library System. Sarah Ann Long, director of the North Suburban Library System, summarized the evolution of organizations in northern Illinois in a 2011 essay,"Context is Everything."

Advocate Good Samaritan Hospital is a 333-bed community hospital located in Downers Grove, in the US state Illinois. The hospital opened in 1976, and operates the only Level I trauma center in the county of DuPage. Advocate Good Samaritan Hospital is a part of Advocate Aurora Health. Advocate Good Samaritan Hospital has earned a spot on the 100 Top Hospitals list five times.

Gostyn ( GOS-tin) is a community within the village of Downers Grove in DuPage County, Illinois, United States. It is located along Fairview Avenue near Westmont. According to an 1889 directory, the community was predominantly of Polish descent, with 575 residents. It was one of the first eastern European communities in Illinois. It takes its name from the city of Gostyń, Poland. The community is still very well-known. There are several single family homes in the area, as well as several apartment complexes and businesses, which bear the suffix "of Gostyn". Although the community never incorporated and is technically part of Downers Grove, there is a small downtown section located along Fairview Avenue, near the junction of the BNSF Railroad Line and the Fairview Avenue Station. Among the businesses there are: a gas station, a law firm, a guitar shop, an insurance office, a nail salon, a 7-Eleven convenience store, a pizzeria, and a laundromat. The local church, Saint Mary of Gostyn, built in 1891, also bears the town's name.

Fairview Avenue is one of three railroad stations on Metra's BNSF Line in Downers Grove, Illinois. The station is 20.3 miles (32.7 km) from Union Station, the east end of the line. As of 2018, Fairview Avenue is the 113th busiest of Metra's 236 non-downtown stations, with an average of 415 weekday boardings. Though its official address is on Fairview Avenue (hence the name) and Burlington Avenue, the main parking lot is on the south side of the tracks off of nearby Second Street. All parking lots, including the main parking lot are managed by the Village of Downers Grove. Fairview Avenue station has a colonial barn-type design more akin to railroad stations of the Northeastern United States, such as those on the Long Island Rail Road, and also matching the adjacent Pepperidge Farm bakery. Currently no buses run near the station.

Chamberlain University is a private for-profit healthcare and nursing school with locations across the United States and online programs. It offers bachelor's, master's, and doctoral degree programs in nursing and a public health master's degree. It is a subsidiary of Adtalem Global Education, formerly DeVry Education Group. The university is regionally accredited by the Higher Learning Commission.

Westmont is a station on Metra's BNSF Line in Westmont, Illinois. The station is 19.4 miles (31.2 km) from Union Station, the east end of the line. In Metra's zone-based fare system, Westmont is in zone D. As of 2018, Westmont is the 44th busiest of Metra's 236 non-downtown stations, with an average of 1,083 weekday boardings. There is a staffed station building across the street from the Westmont Village Hall. The station house is diagonally across from the Village Hall at West Quincy and South Lincoln Streets.

Westmont High School, or WHS, is a public four-year high school located in Westmont, a western suburb of Chicago, Illinois, in the United States. It is part of Westmont Community Unit School District 201. The student population of 450 students and building size are much smaller than adjacent public high schools such as Downers Grove North and Hinsdale Central.

Westmont is a village in DuPage County, Illinois, United States. Located in the southeastern portion of DuPage County, Westmont is a community of 5.03 square miles in area with a 2020 population of 24,429. It is a southwest suburb of Chicago.

Chesterton Academy of The Holy Family is a Catholic high school located in Lisle, Illinois. The school is affiliated with the Roman Catholic Diocese of Joliet in Illinois.A cardiologist named Sean Tierney co-founded the school in Downers Grove, Illinois, along with local business owner, Brenie Bowles. The school, which uses the curriculum of the Chesterton Academy in Minnesota, opened on August 24, 2015. The curriculum intentionally does not emphasize technology in the classroom, believing that students perform better with traditional learning materials. As of 2018 The school has many athletic teams, which compete in the IHSA, including girls' volleyball, boys' and girls' soccer and boys' and girls' basketball. In 2018–2019, their men's rugby team had their debut season.

Downers Grove North High School (DGN; sometimes Downers North or North; formerly Downers Grove High School) is public high school situated in the city of Downers Grove in the Illinois state of the United States. The school was established in 1928.

Doerhoefer Park is a public park located in the Orchard Brook neighborhood of Downers Grove, Illinois in the United States. The park was originally established in the 1960s, and in 1971 was named after Edward J. Doerhoefer, a former Park Commissioner and Board President. Its grounds, covering 14.02 acres, provide spaces for specific sports and activities, such as a turf field, basketball courts, tennis courts, and baseball fields. There is a football team, named Panthers. All of these areas have lighting available until 11:00 pm. Doerhoefer park also houses a playground, which is designed for children aged 5 years old through 12 years old. The playground is ADA compliant, and offers seating areas surrounding it. There are three parking lots surrounding the perimeter of the park, as well as parking along Venard Road, which is the western border of the park. The park is just north of Ogden Avenue, which is a main thoroughfare in the town of Downers Grove. It is positioned between Venard Road to the west, and Saratoga Avenue to the east.
