Bow railway works

The Rose and Crown is a former pub at 8 Stroudley Walk, Bow, London E3. It is a Grade II listed building, dating back to the late 18th/early 19th century. The pub was originally called the Bowling Green Inn as it was opposite the village bowling green.It closed as a pub in 2007, and is now the RSA Cash & Carry store.

Poplar Town Hall is a municipal building at the corner of Bow Road and Fairfield Road in Poplar, London. It is a Grade II listed building.

Bow Church is a Docklands Light Railway (DLR) station in Bow, London, England. It is between Devons Road and Pudding Mill Lane stations. It is interlinked by an out of station interchange (OSI) within 300 m (980 ft) walking distance via Bow Road with Bow Road station on London Underground's District and Hammersmith and City lines. The two Bow stations are classed as a single station for ticketing purposes as well as on tube maps but both managed separately. Opened with the original system on 31 August 1987, the station takes its name from the nearby 14th century Bow Church, which is a Church of England church. There is a crossover south of the station which allows trains from Stratford and Poplar to reverse here. One example of this is when the new platforms at Stratford were being constructed – trains were suspended between Bow Church and Stratford and trains from Poplar terminated here. The station is accessible via lifts to both platforms and it has ticket machines and Oyster pads.

The Church of Our Lady and St Catherine of Siena is a Roman Catholic church dedicated to the Virgin Mary and Catherine of Siena at 179 Bow Road, E3 in Bow, east London. Designed by Gilbert Blount, it opened in 1870. Formerly the parish was run by a community of Dominican nuns, but it is now run by the Archdiocese of Westminster.

Bow Church is the parish church of St Mary and Holy Trinity, Stratford, Bow. It is located on a central reservation site in Bow Road (part of the A11), in Bow, in the London Borough of Tower Hamlets. There has been a church on the same site for approximately 700 years. The church was bombed in the Second World War, and the bell tower was reconstructed just after the war.

Bow School is a comprehensive secondary school and sixth form for boys and girls, located in Bromley-by-Bow in the London Borough of Tower Hamlets, England. It has a roll of about 600 students and increasing. In September 2014 the school moved from the old site off Fairfield Road, Bow to a new site in Bromley-by-Bow a mile to the south-east by Bow Locks, in a new building designed by van Heyningen and Haward Architects. The school started accepting girls in the new school building, along with the move, into Year 7 and the numbers will grow so that by 2019, the school would have all its year groups mixed sex.

Bromley, commonly known as Bromley-by-Bow, is a district in the London Borough of Tower Hamlets in East London, located on the western banks of the River Lea, in the Lower Lea Valley in East London. The area is distinct from Bow, which lies immediately north of the formal boundary between the two, which runs along Bow Road, or near the Lea, slightly to the south of the Road. The area has historically been known as both Bromley and Bromley-by-Bow. In 1967, the latter name was chosen as the new name for Bromley tube station, a change designed to prevent confusion with Bromley railway station in the London Borough of Bromley. The formal boundaries of the area were set when the area became a parish in 1537 when it split from Stepney. The boundaries of the new parish were based on those of much older pre-existing estates.Bromley has a rich history, but many of its most historic buildings have been lost. It is connected to the London Underground and Docklands Light Railway.

Grove Hall Park is a 1.19 ha public park in Bow in the London Borough of Tower Hamlets, East London. It includes play areas, a ball games area, and a small walled memorial garden.Grove Hall Park was opened as a public park in 1909 following its purchase by the local authority in an auction in 1906. Previously the land had been in the possession of the Byas family, who had established Grove Hall Private Lunatic Asylum on the plot in 1820. This establishment primarily catered for ex-servicemen and was featured in Charles Dickens' novel Nicholas Nickleby (1839). In 1878 it was the largest asylum in London with capacity for 443 inmates.In 1930 the park was extended with land that had served as the garden for the St Catherine's Convent, Bow. The former convent Church of Our Lady and St Catherine of Siena, which opened in 1870, survives in Bow Road, but the Dominican convent itself moved to Stone, Staffordshire, in 1926.

Bow Road is a thoroughfare in Bow, London, England. The road forms part of the A11, running from Aldgate to Norwich in Norfolk. To the west the road becomes Mile End Road, and to the east is Bow Interchange on the A12. The College of Technology London was located on the road, as is Bow Church, and the Lea Valley Walk passes it near to Three Mills. The Electric House carries a memorial clock to Minnie Lansbury, whose father in law George Lansbury also lived on Bow Road Bow Road Underground station and Bow Church DLR station are located on the road, and two further stations, both now closed, were also once situated in Bow Road: Bow railway station and Bow Road railway station. Since 2011, Cycle Superhighway 2 has run from Stratford to Aldgate along Bow Road. London Buses route 8 and 25 make use of Bow Road as do routes 425 and 205 Bow Road, London is home to the Thames Magistrates Court near Bow Road Underground station, as well as a number of new commercial occupiers contributing to the regeneration of East London.

Bow was a railway station in Bow, east London, that was opened in 1850 by the East & West India Docks and Birmingham Junction Railway, which was later renamed the North London Railway (NLR). The station was situated between Old Ford and South Bromley, and was located on the north side of Bow Road, close to the second Bow Road station which was open from 1892 to 1949. A covered footway connected the two stations between 1892 and 1917. The original Bow station was replaced by a much grander station in 1870, designed by Edwin Henry Horne, which incorporated a concert hall that was 100 feet (30 m) long and 40 feet (12 m) wide. Bow was served not only by the NLR but also by Great Eastern Railway (GER) trains to Fenchurch Street and a shuttle service to Plaistow. The NLR line was severely damaged in the Blitz of World War II and the line east of Dalston Junction was closed in 1944 and never re-opened to passengers. The station buildings remained in use as a parcel office until it was closed in 1965. After being left derelict, Bow station was ultimately demolished during the construction of the Docklands Light Railway (DLR) which reused the old NLR line. Today, the station site is occupied by a car hire firm, and directly opposite lies Bow Church DLR station.

Bow Road is a closed railway station in Bow, East London, that was opened in 1876 on the Bow Curve branch line by the Great Eastern Railway (GER). The station building was situated slightly west of a former North London Railway (NLR) station called Bow and near the current Bow Road Underground station and Bow Church DLR station. Bow Road station was re-sited in 1892 to a site 3 miles 7 chains (5.0 km) down-line from Fenchurch Street. It was closed in 1949.

The Bow Curve is a railway branch line in Bow, east London, that connects the Great Eastern Main Line (from Liverpool Street) and the London, Tilbury and Southend line (from Fenchurch Street). The line, 47 chains (0.95 km) in length, connects Stratford on the GEML with Limehouse on the LTSR. It was originally part of the London and Blackwall Railway and had one intermediate station called Bow Road, but today, no regular timetabled services run on this line. It can, however, be used for diversions during engineering work or emergency timetable changes.
