Borne (Dutch pronunciation: [ˈbɔrnə] (listen); Tweants: Boorn) is a municipality and a town in the eastern Netherlands, in the region of Twente. Its inhabitants also have the nickname Melbuul (flour bag in Twentsch).

Hertme is a village in the Dutch province of Overijssel. It is a part of the municipality of Borne, and lies about 7 km north of Hengelo. Hertme has its own church. There is a restaurant called 'Hertme’s Ambacht'. It has its own music club, school and hotel. The school is called St. Aegidius school, it has roughly 80 pupils. The Open Air Theater, built in 1955 for the local passion plays, has been the site of an annual African Music Festival since 1990. The Afrikafestival Hertme Youtube channel had 468,000 subscribers in 2020.

Azelo (Dutch pronunciation: [ˈaː.zəˌloː]; Tweants: Oazel(e)) is a hamlet in the municipalities of Hof van Twente, Borne, and Almelo in the province of Overijssel in the Netherlands. It is located between Borne, Bornerbroek, and Delden and has approximately 250 inhabitants. Until January 1, 2001, Azelo belonged largely to the municipality of Ambt Delden. The hamlet is particularly known for the Azelo junction, where the A1 motorway and the A35 motorway meet. The Azelerbeek flows east of the center of Azelo. The hamlet was first attested as Aselo in 1333. The name is likely a compound of Old Dutch Aso (a personal name) and lo ("light forest"). Azelo used to be a hamlet and marke in the richterambt of Delden. The erfmarkenrichterschap of marke Azelo was originally located on the Hof van Azelo, the current farms of Have and Meijer. After Twickel bought the markenrichterschap in the seventeenth century, the meetings were usually kept on the Graes farm. The manor of Dubbelink used to be located in the hamlet of Azelo. A remnant of this is the so-called Meistershoes ('Master's House') on the Meijerinkveldkampsweg. The old Dubbelink bakehouse also still exists. A large number of the farms in Azelo, including Graes, Grave, Morskate, and the farms on Dubbelink, belong to the Twickel estate. The hamlet's area has a large spread size, and is located in three different municipalities. This is mainly due to a boundary correction during the 2001 reorganization, in which the municipal boundaries were located along the A1 motorway. Because of this, a third of the hamlet is partly in the municipality of Borne and partly in the municipality of Almelo. The vast majority, however, is located in the municipality of Hof van Twente, which is also indicated on the place name sign of the hamlet.

Twente (Dutch: Twente [ˈtʋɛntə], Tweants dialect: Tweante) is a region in the eastern Netherlands. It encompasses the most urbanised and easternmost part of the province of Overijssel. Twente is most likely named after the Tuihanti or Tvihanti, a Germanic tribe that settled in the area and was mentioned by the Roman historian Tacitus. The region's borders are defined by the Overijssel region of Salland in the northwest and west (the river Regge roughly defines the western border), the German County of Bentheim in the northeast and east (the river Dinkel roughly defines the eastern border) and the Gelderland region of the Achterhoek in the south. Twente has approximately 620,000 inhabitants, most of whom live in its three largest cities: Almelo, Hengelo and Enschede, the latter being the main city of the region. It comprises fourteen municipalities: Almelo, Borne, Dinkelland, Enschede, Haaksbergen, Hellendoorn, Hengelo, Hof van Twente, Losser, Oldenzaal, Rijssen-Holten, Tubbergen, Twenterand and Wierden. The whole of Hellendoorn and the western parts of both Rijssen-Holten and Twenterand historically belong to the cultural region of Salland, but to the city region of Twente.

Zenderen is a village in the Dutch province of Overijssel. It is a part of the municipality of Borne, and lies about 6 km southeast of Almelo.

Carelshaven is a defunct restaurant and hotel in Delden, Netherlands. It had a fine dining restaurant that was awarded one Michelin star in 1973 and retained that rating until 1986.The hotel closed it doors after Christmas 2013, after being in operation for 237 years. It was owned by the Kluver family for six generations. It reopened under new owners and management on 1 August 2014.De building in which Carelshaven is housed, is originally built in 1772. It was built as an inn, to serve travellers along the Twickelervaart (canal), who often stopped for the night in the small harbour. Earl Carel George van Wassenaer Obdam, Lord of Twickel, ordered the building of the inn and the canal.Carelshaven is one of the founders of Alliance Gastronomique Neerlandaise. In 1967, owner was J.E. Kluvers.

Delden is a city in the Dutch province of Overijssel and, since 2001, in the municipality of Hof van Twente. It received city rights in 1333. Twickel Castle is a famous landmark near Delden. Before it became a part of Hof van Twente in 2001, Delden consisted of two municipalities: Stad Delden (the city itself), and Ambt Delden (the surrounding countryside). These municipalities had existed since 1818, when the original municipality "Delden" was divided into two parts.

The Bataafs Lyceum is a public high school in Hengelo, Netherlands. The Bataafs Lyceum is part of a public school division called the Openbare Scholengemeenschap Hengelo. The building is located at the Sloetsweg, next to the Montessori College Twente. In 2008 the Bataafs Lyceum decided to drop the VMBO education level in order to change its name from Bataafse Kamp to Bataafs Lyceum. In 2014/2015 the Bataafs Lyceum had about 840 students. The school teaches havo and vwo (both atheneum and gymnasium). As of 2018, the school has about 1000 students. In 2009, Bataafs Lyceum started with a programme for vwo students called the Masterclass. In the Masterclass, more talented pupils follow a programme for three years, focused on the development of their cognitive as well as social-emotional competences. The regular lesson scheme is more compact and there is more room for thinking outside the box and academic broadening.

Hengelo (Dutch: [ˈɦɛŋəloː] (listen); Tweants: Hengel) is a city in the eastern part of the Netherlands, in the province of Overijssel. The city lies along the motorways A1/E30 and A35 and it has a station for the international Amsterdam – Hannover – Berlin service.
