WWL (AM)

WRNO (also known as WRNO Worldwide) is a commercial shortwave radio station which began international broadcasting on February 18, 1982 and continued regular broadcasting through the early 1990s from Metairie, Louisiana, with a continuation of periodic broadcasts starting in 2009. These call letters are still in use by the New Orleans station WRNO-FM; both were founded and originally owned by Joseph Costello III.

It is part of the New Orleans–Metairie–Kenner metropolitan statistical area. Estelle is located south of Marrero; the urbanized areas of the communities meet, and some businesses in Estelle list their addresses as "Marrero". The Jean Lafitte National Park Barataria Preserve is adjacent to Estelle.

John Ehret High School is a four-year public high school serving grades 9–12 located in unincorporated Jefferson Parish, Louisiana, United States, near Marrero. The school, a part of the Jefferson Parish Public Schools, serves several communities. Its service area includes portions of Marrero CDP, Harvey, Estelle, and Woodmere.John Ehret High School currently ranks as a "B" school, according to the Louisiana Department of Education, and includes college Dual Enrollment, Advanced Placement, and a Gifted program. In addition, students have access to Music and Arts programs such as: Band, Music, Art, Theatre, and Digital Media. Sports at John Ehret High School include: football, soccer, basketball, indoor and outdoor track and field, volleyball, softball, baseball, wrestling, and spirit.The school's mascot is the Patriot, and its colors are red, white, and blue. During Hurricane Katrina, the school suffered wind damage to many of its buildings.

Archbishop Shaw High School is an archdiocesan school administered under the Salesians of Don Bosco. It is approved by the Louisiana State Department of Education and the Southern Association of Secondary Schools and Colleges. Founded in 1962, it is located in Marrero, Louisiana, and is part of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of New Orleans.

Joe Zimmerman Stadium is a 3,000-seat natural turf football/multipurpose stadium located on the campus of Archbishop Shaw High School. It is the home stadium for Archbishop Shaw athletics in addition to hosting sporting events for multiple area schools.

The West Jefferson Medical Center (West Jefferson) is a 419-bed community hospital located in Marrero, Louisiana, United States. It is located just 15 minutes from Downtown New Orleans in a region known as the Westbank. Established in 1956, West Jefferson Medical Center is situated near vast industrial and maritime corridors and offers a full set of medical services in the Westbank region of Jefferson, Plaquemines, and St. Charles Parishes. The hospital is a part of the LCMC Health System.

Westwego is a city in the U.S. state of Louisiana, located in Jefferson Parish. It is a suburban community of New Orleans in the Greater New Orleans metropolitan area and lies along the west bank of the Mississippi River. The population of the city of Westwego was 8,568 at the 2020 United States census.

The Gulf Intracoastal Waterway West Closure Complex is a part of the New Orleans Drainage System; it consists of a navigable floodgate, a pumping station, flood walls, sluice gates, foreshore protection, and an earthen levee. The complex was designed to reduce risk for residences and businesses in the project area from a storm surge associated with a tropical event, with an intensity that has a one percent chance of occurring in any given year. This project was operated for the first time on August 29, 2012, in response to Hurricane Isaac.

KKNO (750 AM) is a commercial radio station broadcasting an urban gospel radio format. Licensed to Gretna, Louisiana, the station serves the New Orleans metropolitan area. The station is currently owned by Robert C. Blakes Enterprises, Inc. It uses the slogan "Unmistakably Christian Radio." By day, KKNO is powered at 250 watts, using a non-directional antenna. But because AM 750 is a clear channel frequency reserved for Class A WSB in Atlanta, KKNO is a daytimer. To avoid interference, it must go off the air at night. The transmitter is on Industry Street in Harvey, Louisiana.
