Caritas Portugal ("Cáritas Portuguesa" in Portugal) is the official Catholic Church organization in Portugal for charity and social relief, instituted by the Portuguese Episcopal Conference. Caritas Portuguesa was founded in 1945, with its first statutes were approved in 1956. From the 50s to mid-70s, its activities have focused primarily on the distribution of food by the Portuguese population, donated by the United States and the host by Portuguese families, children from the countries of central Europe in the post World War II and the beginning of the tensions of the Cold War.

The Instituto Nacional de Estatística or INE (Portuguese for "National Institute for Statistics") is the Government office for national statistics of Portugal. In English language it is also branded as Statistics Portugal. The INE is one of the components of the Portuguese National Statistical System (SEN), which also includes the Higher Council of Statistics, the Bank of Portugal and the regional statistical services the autonomous regions of the Azores and Madeira. It was established in 1935, as the successor of the Direcão-Geral de Estatística (Directorate-General for Statistics) which had been created in 1896. The first population census known to be done in which is the Portugal of today was done in the year 1 AD by order of the Roman Emperor Caesar Augustus, covering the province of Lusitania. After the foundation of the independent Portugal, many census were done, one of the first relevant known being the Roll of the Crossbowmen done in the 13th century by order of King Afonso III. The first modern census in Portugal, done accordingly with the scientific methodology established by the First International Statistical Congress, was carried out in 1864. A national census takes place every 10 years, the last one being carried away in 2011 and the next one to be carried away in 2021. The INE publishes the REVSTAT - Statistical Journal. The name "Instituto Nacional de Estatística" and the corresponding acronym "INE" is also used as the designation of the central statistical services of several other countries of the Community of Portuguese Speaking Countries, like those of Angola, Cape Verde, Guinea-Bissau, Mozambique and São Tomé and Príncipe.

Areeiro is a station on the Green Line of the Lisbon Metro serving the Areeiro neighbourhood. The station is located in the Praça Francisco Sá Carneiro, just south of the Roma-Areeiro railway station.

Roma-Areeiro Station (Portuguese: Estação Ferroviária de Roma-Areeiro) is a railway station located in the city of Lisbon. It is served by the Sintra and Azambuja Lines, as well as the private operator Fertagus. It is managed by Infraestruturas de Portugal.

Instituto Superior Técnico MHSE • MHIP (IST, also known colloquially as Técnico, and stylized TÉCNICO LISBOA) is a public school of engineering and technology, part of University of Lisbon. It was founded as an autonomous school in 1911, and integrated in the Universidade Técnica de Lisboa in 1930. IST is the largest school of engineering in Portugal by number of enrolled students, faculty size, scientific production and patents. IST has three campi, all located in the Lisbon metropolitan area: Alameda in Lisbon, Taguspark in Oeiras and Tecnológico e Nuclear Campus in Loures, and consists of ten departments that are responsible for teaching the undergraduate and postgraduate programs. Each department is organized in sections, which group together specific subjects within its scientific area. In addition, the laboratories of the several departments support the teaching and research activities carried out at IST. It offers 18 undergraduate programmes attended by more than 6,000 students—covering a wide range of areas of knowledge—including not only all the traditional engineering specializations, but also emerging scientific areas such as Biomedical Engineering, Aerospace, and Physics Engineering. Over 4,500 students are enrolled in 32 masters, 33 doctoral and several specialized programs. IST has produced 1292 PhD holders.

Instituto de Plasmas e Fusão Nuclear (IPFN) (Institute for Plasmas and Nuclear Fusion) is a research unit of Instituto Superior Técnico (IST), Lisbon, and a leading Portuguese institution in physics research. IPFN has the status of Associate Laboratory in the thematic areas of controlled nuclear fusion, plasma technologies and intense lasers, granted by the Portuguese Foundation for Science and Technology. IPFN was formally created in January 2008, as a result of the merging between the former research units Center for Nuclear Fusion and Center for Plasma Physics. As of 2015, almost 190 people work at IPFN, of which more than 100 are PhDs.

The Instituto de Engenharia de Sistemas e Computadores - Investigação e Desenvolvimento (INESC-ID) is a non-profit, privately owned institution of public interest, in Lisbon, Portugal, dedicated to advanced research and development in the domains of electronics, energy, telecommunications and information technologies. It was awarded the status of Associate Laboratory of the Portuguese Ministry for Science and Technology in 2005.

Alameda is a station on the Green and Red Lines of the Lisbon Metro. The station is located on Avenida Almirante Reis at Alameda Dom Afonso Henriques, east of the Instituto Superior Técnico.
