Bagworth and Ellistown railway station

Bagworth is a village and former civil parish, now in the parish of Bagworth and Thornton, in the Hinckley and Bosworth district, in Leicestershire, England, 9 miles (14 km) west of Leicester. In 1931 the parish had a population of 1568.

Ellistown and Battleflat is a civil parish in North West Leicestershire, England, just south of the town of Coalville. Most of the parish's population lives in the village of Ellistown in the western part of the parish. The population of the civil parish at the 2011 census (including Bardon) was 2,626.Battleflat is a scattered settlement of farms and an industrial estate. Battleflat straddles the boundary between the parish and its neighbour of Stanton under Bardon. Battleflat was formerly divided between the parishes of Thornton and Ibstock. The toponym is said to be derived from a skirmish during the English Civil War.

Ellistown Football Club is a football club based in the village of Ellistown, near Coalville in Leicestershire, England. They are currently members of the Leicestershire Senior League Premier Division and play at Terrace Road.

The Chapel of the Holy Rood was a Church of England chapel in Bagworth, Leicestershire. It closed in 2013 to worship and was demolished in 2019. Now, a war memorial garden occupies the site of the church with the graveyard and some remnants of the church still visible. The congregation and church now meets at the nearby Bagworth Community Centre.

Bagworth and Thornton, formerly just Bagworth is a civil parish in the Hinckley and Bosworth district of Leicestershire, England, west of Leicester. The 2001 Census recorded a population of 1,836, increasing at the 2011 census to 2,605. The parish includes the villages of Bagworth and Thornton.

Dan-Air Flight 240 was a fatal accident involving a Hawker Siddeley HS 748 series 2A turboprop aircraft operated by Dan Air Services Limited on the first stage of a night mail flight from London Gatwick Airport to East Midlands Airport. The crash, which occurred on 26 June 1981 near the village of Nailstone, Leicestershire, following major structural failure caused by the failure of a cabin door, resulted in the aircraft's destruction and the deaths of all three on board (both pilots and a cabin attendant).

Ellistown is a village about 2 miles (3 km) south of Coalville in North West Leicestershire, England. It is named after Colonel Joseph Joel Ellis who died in 1885. The population from the 2011 census was included in the civil parish of Ellistown and Battleflat. The village has a community primary school, two village shops and a hairdressing salon. A working men's club, Ellistown F.C. football club and five play parks. Ellistown is just within the eastern boundary of the National Forest.

Bardon Hill railway station was a railway station in Leicestershire, England, on the Leicester and Swannington Railway, which later became part of the Midland Railway's Leicester to Burton upon Trent Line. The village of Bardon was built to serve the large granite quarry on Bardon Hill. The quarry has for many decades provided significant freight traffic for the railway, and in about 1990 the village was demolished to let the quarry expand. British Railways had closed Bardon Hill station in 1952 but the line remains open for freight traffic.

St Peter's Church is a church in Bardon, Leicestershire. It is a Grade II listed building.

Bardon is a civil parish and former village in North West Leicestershire about 1.5 miles (2.4 km) southeast of the centre of Coalville. The parish includes Bardon Hill, which at 912 feet (278 m) above sea level is the highest point in Leicestershire. With the population remaining less than 100, information from the 2011 census was included in the civil parish of Ellistown and Battleflat.

Bagworth Heath Woods is a 75-hectare (185-acre) country park on the location of the former Desford Colliery, in Leicestershire, England consisting of woodland, grassland, heathland, lakes and ponds. The site was built on the land of a reclaimed coal mine. The site is linked to Thornton and Bagworth by the 100-mile circular walk around Leicestershire called the Leicestershire Round.

Bardon Park Chapel is a 300-year-old Christian meeting house at Bardon, Leicestershire, England. It stands back from the A511 road (Shaw Lane), between Coalville and Markfield, about 1.3 miles (2.1 km) west of M1 junction 22. At the time of its construction, the meeting house was set within a medieval deer park.The chapel is a Grade II Listed building.
