Ellistown

Hugglescote railway station is a disused railway station on the former Ashby and Nuneaton Joint Railway. It served the large village of Hugglescote where it joined the Leicester - Burton line and Charnwood Forest Railway. It closed in 1931 to passengers but closed to parcel traffic in 1951. Goods continued to pass through until 1965 when the line was closed from Coalville to Shackerstone. The site has since been demolished and is now overgrown. It was briefly used for a conveyor but this has since been removed. The photograph shows the site of the station yard, the station was immediately behind this point of view.

Ellistown Football Club is a football club based in the village of Ellistown, near Coalville in Leicestershire, England. They are currently members of the Leicestershire Senior League Premier Division and play at Terrace Road.

The village is about 1 mile (1.6 km) south of the centre of Coalville, and its built-up area is now contiguous with the town. Hugglescote and Donington le Heath were part of the parish of Ibstock until 1878, when they were formed into a separate civil parish. Against local belief, Hugglescote is not classed as Coalville. The civil parish of Hugglescote and Donington le Heath was reinstated by an order made in May 2010, and the new parish council held its first meeting in May 2011.

The population of the civil parish at the 2011 census was 4,446.The council consists of nine elected councillors who serve the whole parish.At its annual meeting, held in May each year, the council appoints a chairman and vice-chairman. The current chairman is Councillor Russell Johnson (Labour) and the current vice-chairman is Councillor Clark Robinson . Clockwise, from the north, it borders the unparished area of Coalville and the parishes of Ellistown and Battleflat, Ravenstone with Snibston and Ibstock.

Ellistown and Battleflat is a civil parish in North West Leicestershire, England, just south of the town of Coalville. Most of the parish's population lives in the village of Ellistown in the western part of the parish. The population of the civil parish at the 2011 census (including Bardon) was 2,626.Battleflat is a scattered settlement of farms and an industrial estate. Battleflat straddles the boundary between the parish and its neighbour of Stanton under Bardon. Battleflat was formerly divided between the parishes of Thornton and Ibstock. The toponym is said to be derived from a skirmish during the English Civil War.

Donington le Heath is a village on the River Sence just over 1 mile (1.6 km) south of the centre of Coalville in North West Leicestershire. Donington is contiguous with the village of Hugglescote immediately to the east. The population of the village is included in the civil parish of Hugglescote and Donington le Heath. Donington le Heath and Hugglescote and were part of the parish of Ibstock until 1878, when they were formed into a separate civil parish. In 1936 the parish was absorbed by the then urban district of Coalville. The civil parish of Hugglescote and Donington le Heath was reinstated by an order made in May 2010, and the new parish council held its first meeting in May 2011.

Donington le Heath Manor House Museum, now 'The 1620s House and Garden at Donington le Heath' is a surviving example of a manor house built over seven hundred years ago in Donington le Heath, near the town of Coalville, Leicestershire. It was once owned by a relative of one of the Gunpowder plotters, and is now managed by Leicestershire County Council. The Museum is accredited by the Museums, Libraries and Archives Council (MLA)

North West Leicestershire is a local government district in Leicestershire, England. The council is based in Coalville, the area's largest town. The district also contains the towns of Ashby-de-la-Zouch, Ashby Woulds and Ibstock, along with numerous villages and surrounding rural areas. The district contains East Midlands Airport. Castle Donington is notable as the location of Donington Park, a grand-prix circuit and a major venue for music festivals. The area has a long history of mineral extraction, with coal, brick clay, gravel and granite amongst the products. All the deep coal mines in the area have closed, but opencast mining still continues. The neighbouring districts are Charnwood, Hinckley and Bosworth, North Warwickshire, Lichfield, South Derbyshire, Erewash and Rushcliffe.

The Fox and Goose Ground was a cricket ground in Coalville, Leicestershire. Linked with the nearby Fox & Goose public house (now demolished), the ground was used as an outground by Leicestershire in 1913 and 1914. First-class cricket was played at the ground twice, with Leicestershire playing against Worcestershire in the 1913 and 1914 County Championship's, with Leicestershire winning both matches. Following the First World War, Leicestershire did not return to the ground. Cricket is no longer played at the ground, which is still in use as a recreation ground and is now known as Scotlands Playing Fields.

Bardon Hill railway station was a railway station in Leicestershire, England, on the Leicester and Swannington Railway, which later became part of the Midland Railway's Leicester to Burton upon Trent Line. The village of Bardon was built to serve the large granite quarry on Bardon Hill. The quarry has for many decades provided significant freight traffic for the railway, and in about 1990 the village was demolished to let the quarry expand. British Railways had closed Bardon Hill station in 1952 but the line remains open for freight traffic.

Coalville East railway station was a station on the Charnwood Forest Railway. It served the town of Coalville, Leicestershire, England.

Coalville is a town in the district of North West Leicestershire, Leicestershire in the East Midlands of England. In 2011, it had a population of 34,575. It lies on the A511 between Leicester and Burton upon Trent, close to junction 22 of the M1 motorway where the A511 meets the A50 between Ashby-de-la-Zouch and Leicester. It borders the upland area of Charnwood Forest to the east of the town. Coalville is twinned with Romans-sur-Isère in southeastern France.
