Blaen-y-Maes is a local authority maintained housing estate of the City and County Swansea, Wales. It falls within the Penderry ward.

Penlan is a suburban area of Swansea, Wales in the Penderry ward. The area is set on top of a hill, which overlooks Townhill, Kilvey Hill and Swansea Bay.

Penderry (Welsh: Penderi) is the name of an electoral ward and a community in the City and County of Swansea, Wales, UK. Penderry does not have a community council. Penderry is bordered by the wards of Mynydd-Bach to the east; Cockett and Cwmbwrla to the south; and Kingsbridge, Penllergaer and Llangyfelach to the north. For the purposes of local council elections, the ward is divided up into a number of polling districts, which are: Blaen-y-Maes, Caereithin, Mynydd Cadle, Penlan West, Penlan East and Clwyd. Penderry returns three councillors to the local council. The current councillors representing Penderry are: June Burtonshaw (Labour), Doreen Jones (Labour) and Grenville Phillips (Labour). The electoral ward consists of some or all of the following geographical areas: Penlan, Portmead, Blaen-y-Maes, Fforesthall, Caereithin and Tre-boeth, in the parliamentary constituency of Swansea East. The ward consists of mainly suburban residential areas.

Fforestfach is a suburban district of Swansea, Wales which developed during the Victorian era as part of the expansion of Swansea, and to service several collieries in the area. It lies within the Cockett ward, between the districts of Waunarlwydd and Cwmbwrla, and contains the areas of Cadle and Ravenhill. The area is residential combined with light industry and retail park; and is close to the M4 motorway and several dual carriageways. Corgi Toys and Walkers Crisps had factories in the area, but they have now ceased their operations here. Local amenities include the premises of the City of Swansea Gymnastic Club, and Ravenhill Park. The nearby places are Portmead, Gendros, Waunarlwydd and Penllergaer.

Gendros is a suburban district of the City and County of Swansea, Wales falling within the Cockett ward. Gendros approximates to the settlement northwest of Carmarthen Road (A483 road) between Cwmdu and Penlan. Other areas surrounding Gendros are Blaen-y-Maes, Ravenhill, Cwmbwrla, Cockett, Fforestfach and Mayhill and Townhill. Its post code begins with SA5. Gendros has two churches, a primary school, a Community Centre, two parks, a library and multiple shops throughout. It is connected to Upper Kings Head Road, Carmarthen Road and Middle Road. Foresthall House (or Fforestfach House) was a mansion-like house that existeded in the Swansea suburb of Fforestfach until the 1970s, when the old and crumbling mansion was bought by Swansea Council and demolished in order to make way for various new estates. The mansion was located on the western side of Ravenhill, and had a garden stretching from the mansion itself to the far back end of Cadle Woods. The mansion can be dated from the many Ordnance Survey maps from 1861 to 1868 that show it. The owner of the mansion planted many trees around his land, most notably the Horse Chestnut Tree, which can still be seen today. The owner of the house is blamed for the Japanese knotweed problem in the Swansea area, as in 19th-century Japanese knotweed was used commonly as a potted plant for ornamental use, and was also used on his land to prevent soil erosion.

Cockett railway station was a former station on the West Wales Line from Swansea to Gowerton and onwards to Llanelli. The station was located on the west side of Swansea in the residential area of Cockett.

Cockett (Welsh: Coced) is the name of an electoral ward in the City and County of Swansea, Wales, UK. The ward is coterminous with the Cockett community. It elects three councillors. The electoral ward consists of some or all of the following areas: Cadle, Cwmdu, Coedweig, Gendros, Gors, Fforestfach and Cockett, in the parliamentary constituency of Swansea West. The ward is bounded by the wards of Kingsbridge and Penderry to the north; Cwmbwrla to the east; Townhill to the south east; Sketty and Killay North to the south; and Gowerton to the west. Following a local government boundary review, effective from the 2022 local elections, Waunarlwydd was removed from the Cockett ward to become its own ward (and community). As a result, the number of councillors elected in Cockett reduced from four to three.

Ysgol Gyfun Gymraeg Bryn Tawe is a Welsh-language comprehensive school based in Penlan, Swansea , southwest Wales. It opened in 2003 to complement Ysgol Gyfun Gwyr and to provide additional capacity following the increased demand for Welsh-medium education in the area. Upon its opening, it held only its own fresh intake, taking none of Gwyr's existing pupils. As a result, the school only reached its full complement of years 7-11 (ages 11–16) with its fifth intake of September 2007. As of September 2012 it has approximately 900 pupils on roll. The site was previously occupied by Penlan Senior Comprehensive school for boys which had been attended by Welsh international rugby union players. In September 2008, the new sixth form partnership was opened with Ysgol Gyfun Gŵyr and pupils have access to subjects on both sites.

Cwmdu is a suburban district of the City and County of Swansea, Wales. The western part falls within the Cockett ward and the eastern part falls within the Cwmbwrla ward. Cwmdu approximates to the settlement around Middle Road between Cwmbwrla and Gendros. The neighboring districts are Gendros, Townhill and Cockett.

Llangyfelach railway station served the village of Llangyfelach, in the historical county of Glamorganshire, Wales, from 1923 to 1924 on the Swansea District line.

Cwmbwrla (English: Bwrla valley) is a residential area and community of Swansea in Wales, within the Cwmbwrla ward of the city. Located on rising ground about 1 mile (1.6 km) north of the city centre, it takes its name from the valley of the Burlais Brook (now culverted) which flows down from here to join the River Tawe immediately northeast of Swansea railway station. The neighbouring districts are Manselton, Greenhill, Mayhill, Townhill, and Cwmdu. The population of the community and ward was 7,972 in 2011.
