Cwmbwrla

Cwmdu is a suburban district of the City and County of Swansea, Wales. The western part falls within the Cockett ward and the eastern part falls within the Cwmbwrla ward. Cwmdu approximates to the settlement around Middle Road between Cwmbwrla and Gendros. The neighboring districts are Gendros, Townhill and Cockett.

Manselton (Welsh: Trefansel) is a suburban area of Swansea, Wales falling within the Cwmbwrla ward. Manselton approximates to the area to the west of Llangyfelach Road just north of the railway line from Landore depot to west Wales.Manselton consists mainly of suburban housing, although there is a large, open park area and a number of convenience stores, hairdressers, and beauty salons. Despite a number of public houses being in close proximity to Manselton, none are actually within its boundary.

For the purposes of local elections, Cwmbwrla is broken down into the following polling districts: Manselton South, Cwmdu, Manselton North and Brynhyfryd. The ward returns 3 councillors to the local council. The ward is currently represented by: Peter Black (Lib Dems), Chris Holley (Lib Dems) and Graham Thomas (Lib Dems).

Libanus Chapel was a grade II listed building in Cwmbwrla, Swansea. The original building was built in 1867 to replace an earlier chapel dating from the mid-18th century, at a time when the congregation numbered over 600. The original chapel had been a subsidiary of Mynyddbach Chapel, but became independent in about 1826, following a religious revival. The land was donated by the industrialist Sir John Morris, 1st Baronet. An extension was added in 1906. After a decline in membership, the chapel shut in 2000.

Brynhyfryd is a small village in Swansea, Wales mostly within the Cwmbwrla ward. The area is mostly residential. Brynhyfryd approximates to the area around Llangyfelach Road where it intersects with Brynhyfryd Road. Brynhyfryd Infant School and Brynhyfryd Junior School are the local schools in the area. Other local amenities include the Brynhyfryd public library. There are a few shops on Llangyfelach road and the area has a Grade II listed church – the Brynhyfryd Baptist Chapel.

The electoral ward consists of some or all of the following geographical areas: Cwm-Gwyn, Mayhill, and Townhill in the parliamentary constituency of Swansea West. The ward is bounded by the wards of Cockett and Cwmbwrla to the north; Castle to the east; and the Uplands to the south. For electoral purposes the local council divides Townhill into a number of polling districts, which are: Pryderi, Dyfed Avenue, Gwynedd Avenue, Gors Avenue, Mayhill North and Mayhill South. The ward returns three councillors who are Geoffrey Burtonshaw, David Hopkins and Billy Jones, all of whom represent the Labour Party.

Ysgol Gyfun Gymraeg Bryn Tawe is a Welsh-language comprehensive school based in Penlan, Swansea , southwest Wales. It opened in 2003 to complement Ysgol Gyfun Gwyr and to provide additional capacity following the increased demand for Welsh-medium education in the area. Upon its opening, it held only its own fresh intake, taking none of Gwyr's existing pupils. As a result, the school only reached its full complement of years 7-11 (ages 11–16) with its fifth intake of September 2007. As of September 2012 it has approximately 900 pupils on roll. The site was previously occupied by Penlan Senior Comprehensive school for boys which had been attended by Welsh international rugby union players. In September 2008, the new sixth form partnership was opened with Ysgol Gyfun Gŵyr and pupils have access to subjects on both sites.

The Cathedral Church of Saint Joseph – also known as St Joseph's Cathedral, Menevia Cathedral or Swansea Cathedral – is a Grade II-listed Roman Catholic cathedral in Swansea, Wales. It is the seat of the Bishop of Menevia and mother church of the Diocese of Menevia. The cathedral was built in the late nineteenth century and is located in the Greenhill area of Swansea.
