Santa Brígida is a town and a municipality in the northeastern part of the island of Gran Canaria in the Province of Las Palmas of the Canary Islands. Its population is 18,791 (2013), and the area is 23.81 km². It is situated in the mountains, 13 km southwest of Las Palmas.

Gran Canaria is a Spanish Denominación de Origen Protegida (DOP) that covers the entire island of Gran Canaria (Canary Islands, Spain) comprising 21 municipalities. It obtained its official status in 2009.The cultivation of the vine in Gran Canaria dates back to the end of the s. XV, when the first vines from Crete arrive. In the S. XVI, Canarian wines, due to their quality and prosperity, began to be exported to England, Flanders, Hamburg and the new world. Towards the middle of the century, wine in Gran Canaria played a fundamental role in the island's agricultural economy, becoming the main export product due to the decline in sugar cane cultivation. However, this privileged situation was soon damaged due to the international situation: that is, the war of succession to the Spanish crown. The English gave preference to Portuguese wines, thus definitively undermining the production and trade of Canarian wines practically until today.

Teror is a town and a municipality in the northern part of the island of Gran Canaria in the Province of Las Palmas in the Canary Islands. Its population is 12,671 (2013), and the town area is 25.70 km2. Teror is situated in the mountains, 14 km southwest of Las Palmas city. September 8 is the local festivity celebrating Virgen del Pino (virgin of the pine, patron of the Gran Canaria).Teror has a well preserved old town centre, which is under monument protection. There is a basilica, the quiet Virgin of the Pine Square in front of it, and neatly fronted buildings along the picturesque Calle Real de la Plaza street. After shepherds witnessed a Marian apparition nearby on 8 September 1481, Teror became the most important pilgrimage destination of Gran Canaria, and, as a result, rather prosperous. White houses with wooden balconies, where many of the island’s older families congregated, are typical of the town. Mineral water is an important product of Teror. There's a weekly market (mercadillo) on Sundays.

The Basílica de Nuestra Señora del Pino is a Catholic church and parish in Teror, Gran Canaria, Canary Islands, Spain. The present building in neoclassical style was built from 1760 to 1767. It is dedicated to the Virgen del Pino.

Valleseco is a town and a municipality of Las Palmas province, on the Canary Islands. It is in the northcentral part of Gran Canaria. Valleseco means "dry valley" in Spanish, but is actually one of the wettest municipalities of the island. Its population is 3,904 (2013), and the area is 22.11 km². The elevation is 1,000 m. The town Valleseco is situated 3 km southwest of Teror and 17 km southwest of the city of Las Palmas. Its landscape is characterized by deep valleys and ravines and a great vegetal richness that has resulted in more than 80% of the territory being protected by Nature Reserves. Valleseco, at 1000 m. above sea level, often seems to be enveloped in a "sea of clouds". This helps to make the landscape very lush. Here, the trade winds deposit its precipitations, which, according to a local saying, "seem not to wet but soak", a type of wealth in the form of rain so appreciated by the country person, who thus sees his effort rewarded with productive crops of potatoes, corn and fruits.

Pico de las Nieves is the highest peak and a stratovolcano on the island of Gran Canaria, Canary Islands, Spain. Its height is 1,949 metres (6,394 ft) above sea level. On its slopes, Canary Islands Pine was reintroduced in the 1950s.Traditionally, Pico de las Nieves has been considered the highest peak on the island of Gran Canaria; however, this is uncertain since Morro de la Agujereada stands at 1,956 metres (6,417 ft), which would make it higher than Pico de las Nieves. The two mountains stand next to each other. Gran Canaria has the highest elevation of the province of Las Palmas and the third highest in the Canary Islands. Of the other Canary Islands, only Tenerife and La Palma have higher peaks.

Morro de la Agujereada is the highest elevation of the island of Gran Canaria, Canary Islands, Spain. Located in Pico de las Nieves, it reaches a height of 1,956 meters above sea level (according to the IGN), being the highest elevation in the province of Las Palmas. Gran Canaria is the third highest island in the Canary Islands, after Tenerife and La Palma. Although traditionally Pico de las Nieves was considered to be 1,949 meters high, Morro de la Agujereada actually reaches its highest point at 1,956 meters. Morro de la Agujereada is a rocky promontory at the highest point of Pico de las Nieves, whose slopes cover the central area of the summit, and in which numerous snow pits were dug in the past.

Valsequillo de Gran Canaria is a town and a municipality in the eastern part of the island of Gran Canaria in the Province of Las Palmas in the Canary Islands. Its population is 9,170 (2013), and the area is 39.15 km².Valsequillo is situated in the mountains, 5 km west of Telde and 16 km southwest of Las Palmas.

The Guayadeque ravine, in Spanish Barranco de Guayadeque, is a ravine-type valley located on the Spanish municipalities of Ingenio and Agüimes, in the province of Las Palmas on Grand Canary island, off the coast of Morocco. One of the largest ravines on the archipelago, it is notable for its archaeological remains and for its valuable endemic species of flora and fauna – the latter including one of the largest lizard species. It is also notable for the large quantity of cave houses, including a hermitage and various restaurants dug into the rock.

Gran Canaria is one of the 59 constituencies (Spanish: circunscripciones) represented in the Senate of Spain, the upper chamber of the Spanish parliament, the Cortes Generales. The constituency elects three senators. Its boundaries correspond to those of the island of Gran Canaria. The electoral system uses an open list partial block voting, with electors voting for individual candidates instead of parties. Electors can vote for up to two candidates.

Gran Canaria is one of the seven constituencies (Spanish: circunscripciones) represented in the Parliament of the Canary Islands, the regional legislature of the Autonomous Community of the Canary Islands. The constituency currently elects 15 deputies. Its boundaries correspond to those of the island of Gran Canaria. The electoral system uses the D'Hondt method and a closed-list proportional representation, with a minimum threshold of fifteen percent in the constituency or four percent regionally.

Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, the capital of the island, is the biggest city of the Canary Islands and the ninth of Spain. Gran Canaria is located in the Atlantic Ocean in a region known as Macaronesia about 150 kilometres (93 mi) off the northwestern coast of Africa and about 1,350 km (840 mi) from Europe. With an area of 1,560 km2 (602 sq. mi) and an altitude of 1,956 m (6,417 ft) at Morro de la Agujereada, Gran Canaria is the third largest island of the archipelago in both area and altitude. Gran Canaria is also the third most populated island in Spain.
