SD Leioa

The University of the Basque Country (Basque: Euskal Herriko Unibertsitatea, EHU; Spanish: Universidad del País Vasco, UPV; UPV/EHU) is a Spanish public university of the Basque Autonomous Community. Heir of the University of Bilbao, initially it was made up of the Faculty of Economic and Business Sciences of Sarriko (1955), Medicine (1968) and Sciences (1968). Following the General Law of Education (1970), the Nautical School (1784), the School of Business Studies of Bilbao (1818) and the Technical Schools of Engineers (1897) joined in, until it grew into the complex of thirty centers that compose it presently. It has campuses over the three provinces of the autonomous community: Biscay Campus (in Leioa, Bilbao, Portugalete and Barakaldo), Gipuzkoa Campus (in San Sebastián and Eibar), and Álava Campus in Vitoria-Gasteiz. It stands out as the main research institution in the Basque Country, carrying out 90% of the basic research carried out in that territory and benefiting from the good industrial environment in the region.

Txakoli de Bizkaia – Bizkaiko Txakolina is a Spanish Denominación de Origen Protegida (DOP) (Basque: Jatorri Deitura Babestua) for wines, located in the province of Bizkaia, Basque Country, Spain. The DOP includes vineyards from 82 different municipalities. Txacolí is a thin white acidic wine that can be naturally fizzy and is traditionally served like cider, poured from a height into the glass.

The Achucarro Basque Center for Neuroscience is a BERC (Basque Excellence Research Center) research center devoted to neuroscience and created by Ikerbasque – the Basque Foundation for Science and the University of the Basque Country (UPV/EHU) in mid-2012. The center is named after Nicolas Achucarro (Bilbao, 1880–1918), the first internationally recognized Basque neuroscientist. The center is located at the Science Park of UPV/EHU, within the campus of University of the Basque Country, in Leioa, Spain. The research focus of the center is the study of neuronal-glial biology in normal and pathological brain, which is the base for training students and disseminate the acquired knowledge to the Society, so well-being of people and sustainable social development is fostered.

Leioa is a station on line 1 of the Bilbao metro. It is located in the neighborhood of Udondo, in the municipality of Leioa. The station opened as part of the metro on 11 November 1995, replacing an older station. It is located next to a park and ride facility.

Astrabudua is a station on line 1 of the Bilbao metro. It is located in the neighborhood of the same name, in the municipality of Erandio. The station opened as part of the metro on 11 November 1995, replacing an older station. It is located next to a fare-free parking.

Aiboa is a station on line 1 of the Bilbao metro. It is located in the neighborhood of Aiboa, in the municipality of Getxo. The station opened on 11 November 1995.

Club Deportivo Getxo is a Spanish football team based in Getxo, Biscay, in the autonomous community of Basque Country. Founded in 1927 it plays in División Honor Bizkaia, holding home matches at Campo Municipal de Fadura, with a 3,500-seat capacity.

Neguri is an affluent district of Getxo, in Biscay, Basque Country in Spain. It is traditionally regarded as the residence of the prosperous Basque industrial bourgeoisie. Its name, coined in the 19th century, means Winter Town in Basque language. The neighbourhood is serviced by two Bilbao Metro line 1 stations, Neguri and Aiboa.

Campo Municipal de Gobela is the home stadium of Arenas Club de Getxo, Getxo with a 2,000 capacity.

Velódromo de Fadura is a sports facility dedicated to the practices of cycling and rugby union, which forms part of Getxo Kirolak Fadura, in Getxo (Biscay).The facilities include athletics tracks, football and field hockey fields, pools, covered sports hall, gymnasiuma and tennis pitches, which were built in the early 1960s.The side stand covered of the velodrome can house 510 seating spectators. Its oval track for bicycles is made of concrete. In the rugby field surrounded by the track, Getxo Rugby Taldea plays its home matches of the División de Honon de Rugby. Its surface is natural grass.
