Neguri (Bilbao metro)

Neguri is an affluent district of Getxo, in Biscay, Basque Country in Spain. It is traditionally regarded as the residence of the prosperous Basque industrial bourgeoisie. Its name, coined in the 19th century, means Winter Town in Basque language. The neighbourhood is serviced by two Bilbao Metro line 1 stations, Neguri and Aiboa.

Getxo (Basque: [getʃo]) (Spanish: Guecho) is a town located in the province of Biscay, in the autonomous community of the Basque Country, in Spain. It is part of Greater Bilbao, and has 77,946 inhabitants (2019). Getxo is mostly an affluent residential area, as well as being the third largest municipality of Biscay.

Aiboa is a station on line 1 of the Bilbao metro. It is located in the neighborhood of Aiboa, in the municipality of Getxo. The station opened on 11 November 1995.

Gobela is a station on line 1 of the Bilbao metro. It is located in the neighborhood of Itzubaltzeta-Romo, in the municipality of Getxo. The station opened as part of the metro on 24 June 1996, replacing an older station. It is located immediately to the west of Campo Municipal de Gobela, home of the football team Arenas Club de Getxo.

Campo Municipal de Gobela is the home stadium of Arenas Club de Getxo, Getxo with a 2,000 capacity.

Club Deportivo Getxo is a Spanish football team based in Getxo, Biscay, in the autonomous community of Basque Country. Founded in 1927 it plays in División Honor Bizkaia, holding home matches at Campo Municipal de Fadura, with a 3,500-seat capacity.

Algorta is a station on line 1 of the Bilbao metro. It is located in the neighborhood of Algorta, in the municipality of Getxo. The station opened as part of the metro on 11 November 1995, replacing an older station.

Velódromo de Fadura is a sports facility dedicated to the practices of cycling and rugby union, which forms part of Getxo Kirolak Fadura, in Getxo (Biscay).The facilities include athletics tracks, football and field hockey fields, pools, covered sports hall, gymnasiuma and tennis pitches, which were built in the early 1960s.The side stand covered of the velodrome can house 510 seating spectators. Its oval track for bicycles is made of concrete. In the rugby field surrounded by the track, Getxo Rugby Taldea plays its home matches of the División de Honon de Rugby. Its surface is natural grass.

Algorta is a locality within the municipality of Getxo, in the province of Biscay, Basque Country, Spain. In 1996, the population of Algorta was 35,600.The Metro Plaza situated in Telletxe street is considered to be the center of town and commerce. The two most historically important plazas in town are St. Nicholas Plaza and St. Ignacius Plaza.

Areeta is an underground station on line 1 of the Bilbao metro. It is located in the neighborhood of Areeta, in the municipality of Getxo. The station opened as part of the metro on 11 November 1995, replacing an older overground station.

The 2008 Getxo bombing occurred on 19 May 2008, when a van bomb went off outside a boat club in the town of Getxo, Biscay in the Basque Country, Spain. The attack caused serious damage to the club, as well as nearby buildings and structures. No one was killed or injured after a warning call from the Basque separatist organisation ETA. On 31 May, the organisation claimed responsibility for the bombing.Five days before the attack, another ETA car bomb in a Civil Guard barracks in Legutiano, Álava killed a Civil Guard member and injured four. Both attacks were blamed on the Biscay cell of ETA led by Arkaitz Goikoetxea Basabe, which was most active after the end of the 2006 ceasefire, and was responsible for several attacks in the region during 2007 and 2008. Most of the cell members, as well as the participants in the attack, were arrested in July 2008.The attack came hours before a meeting by Spanish Prime Minister José Luis Rodríguez Zapatero and Basque lehendakari Juan José Ibarretxe to discuss the Basque Conflict. On the same day of the attack, a memorial service for victims of terrorism was held in San Sebastián.

Areeta (Las Arenas in Spanish) is a neighbourhood of Getxo (Biscay, Basque Country, Spain). It is an affluent residential area that was built over the sands of a beach where the Gobela Creek died into a diffuse delta at the mouth of the Estuary of Bilbao in the early 20th century. It is connected to Portugalete at the other side of the firth by the Vizcaya Bridge transporter bridge and offers a marina, a small beach that can unfortunately be polluted, and a monument to Evaristo Churruca, who planned and directed the channelization of the estuary. The Vizcaya Bridge is now a tourist attraction with visitors able to go by lift to the top of the bridge (from where it was originally operated).
