Willington is a village and civil parish 9 miles (14 km) from Chester in Cheshire, England. At the 2011 census, the population was 277.The village contains a public house (The Boot), farm shop and hotel (Willington Hall).

Utkinton is a village and former civil parish, now in the parishes of Utkinton and Cotebrook, in the unitary authority area of Cheshire West and Chester and the ceremonial county of Cheshire, England. It is approximately 2 miles (3.2 km) north of Tarporley, 8 miles (13 km) west of Winsford and 9 miles (14 km) east of Chester. The upper part of Utkinton is known as 'Quarry Bank'. Utkinton is at the heart of the local farming community. The area is also on the Sandstone Trail. At the time of the 2001 census the population of the parish was 651, increasing to 706 by the 2011 census.

Willington Hall is a former country house in the parish of Willington, Cheshire, England. It was extended in 1878, but reduced in size in the 1950s, and has since been in use as a hotel.

The Forests of Mara and Mondrem were adjacent medieval forests in Cheshire, England, which in the 11th century extended to over 60 square miles (160 km2), stretching from the Mersey in the north almost to Nantwich in the south, and from the Gowy in the west to the Weaver in the east. Mara and Mondrem were a hunting forest of the Norman Earls of Chester, established soon after 1071 by the first earl, Hugh d'Avranches. They might earlier have been an Anglo-Saxon hunting forest. Game included wild boar, and red, fallow and roe deer. After the earldom lapsed in 1237, the forest rights passed to the Crown, with the monarch's heir being given the title of Earl of Chester. Edward I and James I both hunted in the forests. Clearance for agricultural use began to be permitted after 1215, and by the mid-14th century, large areas of the Forest of Mondrem had been cleared. Deer hunting still continued within the remaining forest in the 17th century, and the forest was not formally disafforested, or removed from forest law, until 1812. The modern Delamere Forest is the remnant of the medieval forests, but little ancient woodland survives.

Kelsborrow Castle is an Iron Age hill fort in Cheshire, northern England. Hill forts were fortified hill-top settlements constructed across Britain during the Iron Age. It is one of only seven hill forts in the county of Cheshire and was probably in use for only a short time. In the 19th century, a bronze palstave was recovered from the site. It is protected as a Scheduled Ancient Monument.

Prior's Heys is a former civil parish, now in the parish of Tarvin, in the Borough of Cheshire West and Chester and ceremonial county of Cheshire in England. In 2001 it had a population of 10. The civil parish was abolished in 2015 and merged into Tarvin.

It is an active Anglican parish church in the diocese of Chester, the archdeaconry of Chester and the deanery of Middlewich.

Eddisbury hill fort, also known as Castle Ditch, is an Iron Age hill fort near Delamere, Cheshire, in northern England. Hill forts are fortified hill-top settlements constructed across Britain during the Iron Age. Eddisbury is the largest and most complex of the seven hill forts in the county of Cheshire. It was constructed before 200–100 BC and expanded in 1–50 AD. In the 1st century AD, the Romans slighted the site. It was reoccupied in the 6th–8th centuries AD, and an Anglo-Saxon burh was probably established at Eddisbury in 914. In the medieval and post-medieval periods quarrying and farming have damaged the site. Ownership is currently split between the Forestry Commission and a local farm. Eddisbury is protected as a Scheduled Ancient Monument.

Tarporley is a large village and civil parish in Cheshire, England. The civil parish also contains the village of Rhuddall Heath. Tarporley is bypassed by the A49 and A51 roads. At the 2011 census, the population was 2,614.

Portal is a country house standing to the northeast of the village of Tarporley, Cheshire, England. It was built in 1900–05. The architect was Walter E. Tower, nephew and partner of the stained glass designer and manufacturer C. E. Kempe. It is a timber-framed building in Domestic Revival (Black-and-white Revival) style. The house is recorded in the National Heritage List for England as a designated Grade II* listed building. The architectural historian Nikolaus Pevsner says of it: "It is a tour de force in accurate but scaled-up imitation of timber-framed mansions".
