The Bridge of Praia da Barra (Portuguese: Ponte de Praia da Barra) is a modern bridge, situated over a confluence of the Ria Aveiro, in the civil parish of Gafanha da Nazaré, municipality of Ílhavo, in the Portuguese district of Aveiro. The bridge is situated on the western coast of Portugal, in the district of Aveiro, where the Ria Aveiro connects to the Atlantic Ocean. To the south is the beach of Costa Nova do Prado and north by the beach of São Jacinto. Nearby is the lighthouse of Ponte da Barra and coastal seawall, that delimits the 500 metres (1,600 ft) southern entrance to the port of Aveiro. The breakwater separates the northern and southern beaches, is close to the Church of the Sagrada Família and campsite of Barra, that belong to the tourist route of Luz/Centro.

The Lighthouse of Praia da Barra, also known as the Aveiro Lighthouse (Portuguese: Farol de Aveiro/Farol da Praia da Barra), is an active lighthouse in the civil parish of Gafanha da Nazaré, municipality of Ílhavo, in the Portuguese district of Aveiro. Situated on the coastal Praia da Barra, at the southern margin of the Ria de Aveiro, it is the tallest lighthouse in Portugal, with a height of 203 feet (62 m) overseeing the barrier beach and exposed to Atlantic storms. It is open to the public and visits are held on Wednesdays from 14:00 to 17:00.

On August 31, 1910, was founded the parish of Gafanha da Nazaré by the Prior Sardo and received royal decree from the King Manuel II, published in Diário do Governo no. 206 on September 16, 1910, the last portuguese town to receive a royal recognition. On October 29, 1969, it was elevated to a town, and on April 19, 2001, it was elevated to a city.
