Norris is a city in Anderson County, Tennessee. Its population was 1,599 at the 2020 census. It is included in the Knoxville, TN Metropolitan Statistical Area. Norris was built as a model planned community by the Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) in 1933 to house workers building Norris Dam on the Clinch River. It is named in honor of George W. Norris, a Senator from Nebraska, who was a long-term supporter of the TVA.

Tennessee Fall Homecoming is the popular fall (autumn) festival of the Museum of Appalachia. A four-day event held annually on the second full weekend of October, Homecoming features continuous performance on five stages of traditional music ranging from gospel to bluegrass for the duration of the event. Over a quarter-century old, its headliners have included Doc Watson, Ralph Stanley, Mac Wiseman, Janette Carter, Rhonda Vincent, Bitt Rouse, and Doyle Lawson and Quicksilver. Each year over 175 artisans - some of whom do not sell in other venues - demonstrate and sell old-time Appalachian crafts. Demonstrations range from paper being made from milkweed to apple sulfuring (a method of preserving fruit by exposing slices to sulfur smoke, which kills bacteria).Other activities include buck dancing and clogging. Visitors can participate in daily hymn singing in the Museum's 19th-century log "Church in the Wildwood." Dozens of local ladies and food vendors serve country food on the grounds every day, some of it prepared on woodburning stoves and in iron kettles. Approximately 50,000 visitors attend some part of the four-day event. Special admission rates apply.

Norris Dam is a hydroelectric and flood control structure located on the Clinch River in Anderson County and Campbell County, Tennessee, United States. The dam was the first major project for the Tennessee Valley Authority, which had been created in 1933 to bring economic development to the region and control the rampant flooding that had long plagued the Tennessee Valley. The dam was named in honor of Nebraska Senator George Norris (1861–1944), a longtime supporter of government-owned utilities in general, and supporter of TVA in particular. The infrastructure project was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2016. Norris Dam is a straight concrete gravity-type dam. The dam is 1860 feet (570 m) long and 265 feet (81 m) high. Norris Lake, the largest reservoir on a tributary of the Tennessee River, has 33,840 acres (137 km2) of water surface and 809 miles (1302 km) of shoreline. The dam has a maximum generating capacity of 126 megawatts.

Coal Creek is a tributary of the Clinch River in Tennessee, approximately 10.3 miles (16.6 km) long. Coal Creek flows northward along the southeastern base of Cross Mountain, slicing a narrow valley in which the communities of Briceville and Fraterville are located, to Rocky Top at the eastern base of the Cumberland Plateau. The creek's confluence with the Clinch River is east of Rocky Top and below Norris Dam, near the Interstate 75 highway bridge across the river. The drainage basin is about 36 square miles (93 km2). Beech Grove Fork is its largest tributary stream. Coal Creek's water quality is affected by coal surface mining, municipal wastewater discharges, and channelization.

The station is currently owned and operated by Ron Meredith M & M Broadcasting.In 2006, Ron Meredith and M&M Broadcasting purchased WXJB, WFXY, and WANO in Middlesboro, KY, Harrogate, TN, and Pineville, KY, for just over 1 million dollars, changed the call letters to of WXJB to WMYL, and branded the station as Merle FM, moving it Knoxville and Halls Crossroads, to which it is licensed. As of spring 2020, the station is now branded "96.7 Merle. Forgotten favorites and only the new country you love." Since moving on to Halls Crossroads, 96.7 Merle has offered a mix of old and new country and is wildly successful in East Tennessee. The station is home to multiple CMA Personality Of The Year award winners, including morning show Bud and Broadway, afternoon talent Jack Ryan, and Knoxville country legend Mike Hammond on-air at 96.7 Merle.

Clinton is a city in and the county seat of Anderson County, Tennessee, United States. Clinton is included in the Knoxville metropolitan area. Its population was 10,056 at the 2020 census.

The Edwards-Fowler House in Rocky Top, Tennessee was built between 1835 and 1838 on land given to Nicely Ross Edwards and husband Edward C. Edwards by Nicely's father, James Ross. Ross gave the couple 300 acres (120 ha) and several slaves, who provided labor to build the house, which has been called The Hemlocks after the two massive hemlock trees that grow in front of the house. The Edwards family owned the house from 1838 until about 1900 when the Fowler family, originally from Knoxville, Tennessee, bought the house. The house has remained structurally unchanged for over 175 years, making the Edwards Fowler house the oldest and only Federal-style house in Anderson County, Tennessee.The house was constructed of locally quarried limestone and bricks made on the site. Foundations of slave cabins exist behind the house. It was placed on the National Register of Historic Places on May 29, 1975.

The Daugherty Furniture Building, also known as the J.R. Daugherty Company Building, is a former store located in Clinton, Tennessee. It sold furniture, appliances, hardware, flooring, and other household items, until its closure in 1985. The building was designed by architect Clem H. Meyers, and was constructed between the years 1938 and 1942. In 2010, it was listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
