Upper Wield

Wield is a civil parish in the East Hampshire district, in the county of Hampshire, England. It includes two neighbouring villages, Upper Wield and Lower Wield. In 2021 the parish had a population of 237.The parish council meets quarterly at the parish hall in Upper Wield.Wield as a civil parish is separate from the church parish. The parish church, dedicated to St James, is also in Upper Wield. It is mainly Norman, and is a Grade I listed building.

At one time, Lower Wield came under the large parish of Bentworth until its decline in the mid-19th century. Although today, Wield's parish borders the parish of Bentworth.The village has one public house, The Yew Tree.

Bradley is a small village and civil parish in the Basingstoke and Deane district of Hampshire, England. Its nearest town is Alton, which lies 5.4 miles (8.7 km) southeast from the village, although Basingstoke lies 6.6 miles (10.6 km) to the north. According to the 2011 census, the village had a population of 202 people. The parish covers an area of 975 acres (395 ha), of which 149 acres (60 ha) is woodland and its highest point is 170 metres (560 ft) above sea level. It contains no hamlets. The village was first mentioned in a charter made by Edward the Elder in 909, and was confirmed to be part of Overton at the time of the Domesday Survey. Bradley later became a separate manor and passed through several families throughout the centuries. Medstead is a village and civil parish in the East Hampshire district of Hampshire, England. Its nearest town is Alton, which lies 4.3 miles (6.9 km) northeast of the village. According to the 2011 census, the village had a population of 2,036 people. The parish covers an area of 1,536 acres (622 ha) and has an average elevation of approximately 600 feet (180 m) above sea level. One of the county's high points at 716 feet (218 m), King's Hill, runs through Medstead and Bentworth. The earliest evidence of settlement in the village comes from two Tumuli burial grounds which date from 1000 BC. Roman pottery and coins have also been found in the area. A chapel in the village was first mentioned in the Domesday Survey of 1086 and was soon replaced by a Norman church. The village has six Grade II listed buildings, including the 12th century St Andrew's Church and its war memorial, a farmhouse and a Victorian wheelhouse with a working donkey wheel. Medstead was one of the first villages in the United Kingdom to receive broadband. The parish contains three individual hamlets; South Town, Soldridge and Hattingley. Medstead also has its own restored railway station on the Watercress Line, services from which connect with the nearest national rail station 4.6 miles (7.4 km) at Alton railway station.

The Candover Brook is a 9.6 km (6.0 mi) chalk stream in the English county of Hampshire. It is a tributary of the River Itchen, which it joins near the town of New Alresford. The stream rises from springs just to the south of the village of Preston Candover.It is one of the few rivers remaining in southern England that is home to the endangered native white-clawed crayfish.Candover Brook is part of the Itchen Valley Countryside Heritage Area, recognising the distinctive features and biological richness of this area.
