Port Credit GO Station

Port Credit is a neighbourhood in the south-central part of the City of Mississauga, Ontario, Canada, located at the mouth of the Credit River on the north shore of Lake Ontario. Its main intersection is Hurontario Street and Lakeshore Road, about 0.6 kilometres (0.37 mi) east of the river. Until 1974, Port Credit was an incorporated town. Its approximate boundaries are the Canadian National Railway to the north, Seneca Avenue to the east and Shawnmarr Road to the west. It had a population of 10,260 at the 2001 census. Port Credit was originally a settlement of the Mississauga Ojibwe First Nations band and a trading post established in 1720 for the exchange of goods from the Europeans for furs trapped by the Mississaugas. After the War of 1812, a harbour was established by the Mississaugas together with European and Jamaican settlers. In 1847, the Mississaugas left the village to relocate on the Six Nations Reserve to be with other band members and first nations. Industry was established on the village periphery including an oil refinery, but the neighbourhood is no longer a substantial industrial district. The village survived into the 20th century, becoming an independent municipality in 1909, until it was merged with the City of Mississauga in 1974. Today, the original core village is now a heritage conservation district. The harbour is mostly used for recreational boating. In recent years, the population of Port Credit has increased significantly from condo developments as well as gaining summer attraction from other Mississauga neighbourhoods. On the old site of an oil plant at Mississauga Road and Lakeshore, a massive condo complex named Brightwater has been planned to accommodate over 15,000 residents. The complex will include shopping, groceries and a college campus. Protests have taken place due to concern over the ratio of the size of Port Credit to the amount of traffic it will bring.

Port Credit Secondary School (PCSS) is a high school located in the city of Mississauga, Ontario, and is a part of the Peel District School Board. It was the first secondary school in Peel, celebrating its 100th anniversary in May 2019. It is located just north of Port Credit, Ontario. It is home to two Peel Region programs, the one of a kind SciTech Program and the Strings Program. The current PCSS building is located about one block east of Hurontario Street at 70 Mineola Rd. East. The school is in the neighbourhood of Mineola, east of Hurontario Street, north of the CN Railroad and south of the Queen Elizabeth Way. The original location of the school was on Forest Avenue, on the site of what is now Mentor College. The school moved to its current location, May 13, 1963.The school's athletic teams are known as the Warriors. The Ultimate Frisbee team won the regional championship during the 2009-2010 season. In 2011, PCSS Warriors became the first Ultimate ROPSSAA Champions, winning the finals 14-13. The Warriors won their second ultimate frisbee title in 2014 and finished the season with an undefeated record of 11-0.PCSS was a shooting location for the 2006 film The Naked Mile. In October 20, 2007, the school was used as a filming location for the film True Confessions of a Hollywood Starlet.

SS William E. Corey is a steel-hulled propeller-driven Great Lakes freighter that had a lengthy career on the Great Lakes. She served from her launching in 1905 to her conversion to a breakwater in 1970.

The Credit River is a river in southern Ontario, which flows from headwaters above the Niagara Escarpment near Orangeville and Caledon East to empty into Lake Ontario at Port Credit, Mississauga. It drains an area of approximately 1,000 square kilometres (390 sq mi). The total length of the river and its tributary streams is over 1,500 kilometres (930 mi). Despite urbanization and associated problems with water quality on the lower section of this river, it provides spawning areas for Chinook salmon and rainbow trout. There is a fish ladder on the river at Streetsville. Much of the river can still be travelled by canoe or kayak. The headwaters of the Credit River is home to a native self-sustaining brook trout population and an introduced brown trout population. Credit Valley Conservation, the local watershed management conservation authority, operates several Conservation Areas including Belfountain, Island Lake, and Terra Cotta. Forks of the Credit Provincial Park is located on the upper part of the river between Brampton and Orangeville, and is near the Bruce Trail. Lakeview is a neighbourhood in Mississauga in the Region of Peel, just east of Port Credit, which amalgamated into the Town of Mississauga in 1968. It is located in the extreme southeastern corner of the city, along the northern shores of Lake Ontario. Lakeview was known for the 4 Sisters, the four smokestacks of the former Lakeview Generating Station. They were called the 4 Sisters because the generating plant actually had eight boilers and two boilers were 'sistered' to a common stack. The generating station was demolished in 2007, about a year after the four stacks were demolished, which occurred on the morning of June 12, 2006. At 493 ft each they were easily the tallest structures in the area. Along the shore of Lake Ontario, Lakeview is the home of the Port Credit Yacht Club, Lakefront Promenade Marina, Arthur P. Kennedy Water Treatment Plant, and G. E. Booth (Lakeview) Wastewater Treatment Plant. The area is also home to the Lakeview Branch Library, and two high schools: Cawthra Park Secondary School, and St. Paul Secondary School. (A third, Gordon Graydon Memorial Secondary School, closed.) Many parks run along Lake Ontario, including well-lit baseball diamonds used by many junior leagues.

Applewood is a suburban district consisting of a collection of neighbourhoods (each containing the district's name) in the city of Mississauga, Ontario, Canada. It is bordered by Burnhamthorpe Road, Cawthra Road, the Queen Elizabeth Way, and the Etobicoke Creek. It is named for the apple orchards which predominated in the area prior to its development.

The Adamson Estate, which forms the eastern boundary of the Port Credit neighbourhood of Mississauga, Ontario, was purchased from the family of Agar Adamson by Credit Valley Conservation Authority in 1975 upon the urging of the local ratepayers group known as Project H21 after a proposed real estate development which would have changed the character of the neighbourhood. It is now a public park on the Waterfront Trail. It was recognized as a Historic Place in 1978.

Mississauga—Lakeshore is a provincial electoral district in Ontario, Canada. It elects one member to the Legislative Assembly of Ontario. This riding was formerly known as Mississauga South prior to 2015.It includes the neighbourhoods of Cawthra, Sheridan Heights, Park Royal, Clarkson, Rattray Park Estates, Lorne Park, Lorne Park Estates, Port Credit, Applewood Acres, Lakeview and Orchard Heights. It has a population of 113,003 and an area of 61 km2. In 2003, it was defined to consist of the part of the City of Mississauga lying southeast of a line drawn from northeast to southwest along the Queensway to the Credit River, west along the Credit River, and southwest along Dundas Street West to the southwestern city limit.

Mississauga—Lakeshore (formerly Mississauga South) is a federal electoral district in Peel Region, Ontario, Canada. It has been represented in the House of Commons of Canada since 1979.

Cooksville Creek is a short stream in Mississauga, Regional Municipality of Peel in the Greater Toronto Area of Ontario, Canada. It begins near Bristol Road West and Hurontario Street and flows south to Lake Ontario at R.K McMilian Park near Lakeshore Road and Cawthra Road. The community of Cooksville is located on the west bank of the creek near Hurontario Street and Dundas Street East. The creek is surrounded mostly by residential homes and a few parks: R.K. Bronte College is a private, co-educational day and boarding high school, located in Mississauga, Ontario, Canada. Founded in 1991, Bronte College offers the Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) to grades 9 through 12. The International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma Programme is offered in Grade 11 and 12 and Advanced Placement (AP) is offered in Grade 12. The school is located in the heart of Mississauga close to shopping malls, public transit and just 20 minutes to the international airport.

Cawthra Park Secondary School, also known as CPSS, is a public high school built-in 1972 located in Southeast Mississauga, Ontario, Canada. It is one of two Regional Arts Schools in the Peel District School Board. Cawthra Park provides instruction to students from grades 9 to 12. Cawthra Park offers a Regional Art Program, which Peel students may audition to attend. It also offers a mainstream option for locals students. CPSS is one of the few secondary schools in Mississauga with an active and operational public pool facility owned and operated by the City of Mississauga. However, starting in 2023, a new pool aquatic program and facility will open at the Carmen Corbasson Community Centre (on the same land of the school) and Cawthra Park Pool will be decommissioned. The Principal is Tyler McLeod, and the Vice Principals are Barbara Gordon and Nancy Gilliard.
