Jean Lafitte National Historical Park and Preserve

The Malus-Beauregard House, previously known as the Rene Beauregard house, is a home built in 1832-1833 and significantly altered in 1850's to a Greek Revival style overlooking the Battle of New Orleans battlefield. Located in St. Bernard Parish about 6 miles east of the City of New Orleans and adjoining the field of Chalmette where the Battle of New Orleans was fought in 1815. The house is named after its first and last owners and served as a country residence for several wealthy families during the 19th century. Its latest use was the Visitor's Center for the Chalmette Battlefield but has been closed since Hurricane Katrina due to its poor condition. It is not considered of historical importance due to it being located on the famous battlefield but unrelated and built after the event. No restoration efforts are planned.

Fazendeville was a small, historic, African American community in St. Bernard Parish, Louisiana, United States. Located near the Freedmen's Cemetery in the parish, this village was razed during the 1960s as part of an expansion of the Chalmette National Battlefield in the Jean Lafitte National Historic Park and Preserve.It was known to residents who lived there as "The Village."A significant percentage of the village's displaced residents resettled in New Orleans' Ninth Ward.

The Battle of New Orleans was fought on January 8, 1815, between the British Army under Major General Sir Edward Pakenham and the United States Army under Brevet Major General Andrew Jackson, roughly 5 miles (8 km) southeast of the French Quarter of New Orleans, in the current suburb of Chalmette, Louisiana.The battle was the climax of the five-month Gulf Campaign (September 1814 to February 1815) by Britain to try to take New Orleans, West Florida, and possibly Louisiana Territory which began at the First Battle of Fort Bowyer. Britain started the New Orleans campaign on December 14, 1814, at the Battle of Lake Borgne and numerous skirmishes and artillery duels happened in the weeks leading up to the final battle. The battle took place 15 days after the signing of the Treaty of Ghent, which formally ended the War of 1812, on December 24, 1814, though it would not be ratified by the United States (and therefore did not take effect) until February 16, 1815, as news of the agreement had not yet reached the United States from Europe. Despite a large British advantage in numbers, training, and experience, the American forces defeated a poorly executed assault in slightly more than 30 minutes. The Americans suffered just 71 casualties, while the British suffered over 2,000, including the deaths of the commanding general, Major General Sir Edward Pakenham, and his second-in-command, Major General Samuel Gibbs.

Chalmette National Cemetery is a United States National Cemetery located within Jean Lafitte National Historical Park and Preserve in Chalmette, Louisiana. The cemetery is a 17.5-acre (7.1 ha) graveyard adjacent to the site that was once the battleground of the Battle of New Orleans, which took place at the end of the War of 1812. Despite its proximity to the site of the Battle of New Orleans in the War of 1812, the majority of the interments are of soldiers who were casualties or veterans of the American Civil War, the Spanish-American War, World War I, World War II, the Korean War, or the Vietnam War. The cemetery was subsequently closed to new interments.

The Freedmen's Cemetery was a cemetery in St. Bernard Parish, Louisiana, where formerly enslaved men, women and children were buried following the end of the American Civil War. Established in 1867 as a four-acre civilian cemetery by the U.S. Bureau of Refugees, Freedmen, and Abandoned Lands, also known as the Freedmen's Bureau, it was located near the historic African American community of Fazendeville, Louisiana and adjacent to Monument Cemetery (now known as the Chalmette National Cemetery), where the U.S. government had begun burying deceased Union soldiers in 1864, many of whom had been involved in the Red River campaign.Adding new burials until May 1869, the cemetery quickly became overgrown after its management was abandoned by the Freedmen's Bureau when it ended its operations in Louisiana in 1872 and transferred its management authority over the cemetery to the city government in New Orleans, Louisiana.This Freedmen's Cemetery site is considered to be one of the Historic Cemeteries of New Orleans, and has been memorialized by a historical marker, which is located near the entrance to Chalmette National Cemetery.

USS Carolina, a schooner, was the only ship of the United States Navy to be named for the British colony that became the states of North Carolina and South Carolina. Her keel was laid down at Charleston, South Carolina. She was purchased by the Navy while still on the stocks, launched on 10 November 1812, and commissioned on 4 June 1813 with Lieutenant J. D. Henley in command. Carolina set sail for New Orleans, Louisiana, and while making her passage, captured the British schooner Shark. Arriving at New Orleans 23 August 1814, she began an active career of patrol directed against possible British action as well as the pirates that infested the Caribbean Sea. On 16 September 1814, Carolina attacked and destroyed the stronghold of the notorious Jean Lafitte on the island of Barataria. Carolina, with the others of the small naval force in the area, carried out the series of operations which gave General Andrew Jackson time to prepare the defense of New Orleans when the British threatened the city in December 1814. On 23 December, she dropped down the river to the British bivouac which she bombarded with so telling an effect as to make a material contribution to the eventual victory. As the British stiffened their efforts to destroy the naval force and to take the city, Carolina came under heavy fire from enemy artillery on 27 December. The heated shot set her afire, and her crew was forced to abandon her. Shortly after, she exploded.

The Friscoville Street Historic District, in Arabi, Louisiana in St. Bernard Parish, Louisiana, is a 16 acres (6.5 ha) historic district which was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1998. It included 76 contributing buildings.It includes the 100-900 blocks of Friscoville Street, which was platted in 1906. The district is mostly residential. Besides houses, there are a church, a historic jail, a small commercial building, a brick school, and former casino. It includes Colonial Revival and Bungalow architecture plus scattered eclectic houses.

The LeBeau Plantation was an historic plantation house in Arabi, Louisiana. It was located on one of the largest plantations south of New Orleans and grew indigo. The house was built as a private residence by Francois LeBeau in 1854. LeBeau had purchased the land in 1851 and demolished the existing house. Though LeBeau died the year that the house was completed, his widow Sylvanie Fuselier lived there until her death in 1879. Between the 1920s and the 1940s, the LeBeau Plantation was known as the Cardone Hotel.On Thursday, June 26, 1986, the LeBeau Plantation house was damaged in an act of arson. On Friday, November 22, 2013, the house was destroyed by a second act of arson. According to investigators, seven intoxicated men, ranging in age from 17 to 31, had been searching for ghosts inside the building. Aggravated by their lack of success, they decided to set fire to the house.

Andrew Jackson Fundamental Magnet High School, commonly nicknamed "A.J.", "Andrew Jackson", or "Andrew Jackson High School", was a public magnet high school in Chalmette in the area of St. Bernard Parish, Louisiana, United States. It is a part of St. Bernard Parish Public Schools. Andrew Jackson was turned into an elementary school in 2010 then later into a middle school teaching grades 6-8. Currently still a middle school.

Arabi () is a census-designated place (CDP) in St. Bernard Parish, Louisiana, United States. It lies on the eastern bank of the Mississippi River, between the Lower 9th Ward of New Orleans and Chalmette within the Greater New Orleans metropolitan area. The population was 4,533 at the 2020 census.

Aurora is a community of Algiers in New Orleans, Louisiana. It is divided into three areas: Old Aurora, Walnut Bend, and Huntlee Village. From the 1950s, the original name of the Old Aurora neighborhood was Aurora Gardens. The residential subdivision was developed on acreage which formerly belonged to the Aurora Plantation.Part of the Battle of New Orleans (1814–1815) was waged in Aurora along the west bank of the Mississippi River. There remain some earthworks near the river and a state historical marker to commemorate the event.

Jackson Barracks is the headquarters of the Louisiana National Guard. It is located in the Lower 9th Ward of New Orleans, Louisiana. The base was established in 1834 and was originally known as New Orleans Barracks. On July 7, 1866, it was renamed in honor of Andrew Jackson. The National Register of Historic Places listed Jackson Barracks in 1976.
