Mariano Park (also known as Mariano Plaza) is a small public park in Chicago at the intersection of Rush Street and State Street in Gold Coast. It has an official address of 1031 North State Street. The land was initially acquired by the city in 1848 but was not transferred to the Chicago Park District until 1959. Mariano Park was renamed for Louis Mariano, a reporter and editor for the Chicago Daily News, in 1970. Mariano was an editor for World Book Encyclopedia and an associate editor for Science Year, the World Book Science Annual, as well as the assistant managing editor of the World Book Yearbook from 1963 through 1970. His column, "North Looping with Lou Mariano" featured happenings and local celebrities from the vantage point of his office, a table at O'Connell's Sandwich Shop on the corner of Bellevue and Rush Streets. It has a structure designed by Birch Burdette Long, who was a Frank Lloyd Wright protege. The area was colloquially known as "Viagra Triangle" for the many older gentlemen taking young ladies on dates at bars and restaurants.

Newberry Plaza is a 553-foot (169 m) full amenity luxury skyscraper located in the affluent Gold Coast neighborhood of Chicago, Illinois. It was named after the Newberry Library that once operated at its location. The complex was completed in 1974 and has 57 floors above ground. Gordon and Levin designed the building, which is the 56th tallest in Chicago. When Newberry Plaza was completed it was the sixth-tallest all-residential skyscraper in the world and the first highrise in the city to have townhomes built on top of a building's pedestal, known as the Skyhomes. The property also contains commercial space under the condominium tower (1050 N State). Former famous businesses include the original location of Morton's The Steakhouse, the opulent restaurant Arnie's, exclusive nightclub Zorine's, both also owned by the Morton family, the Grotto, and Trader Vic's. In addition to its astonishing views of the city, it might be best known for its prominent location as the only residential high-rise building in a well known triangle of high end restaurants on the East and Oak Street on the South.

The origins of the Collectors Club of Chicago (CCC) are traced to the informal meetings during the 1920s of specialized collectors residing in the Chicago area. The CCC was incorporated in accordance with the General Not For Profit Corporation Act on October 13, 1928 in the State of Illinois, with nine members being named directors and with meetings being conducted in members' homes. Meetings continued at members' homes until World War II, at which time the meetings lapsed. On Sunday, November 26, 1944, a reorganization meeting of the then-charter-named "Chicago Collectors Club" was held at the home of Maj. Max G. Johl. Today's CCC is the result of that reorganization effort. In 1967, CCC member Richard McPherren Cabeen offered the Collectors Club of Chicago his four-level brownstone home, located in Chicago's downtown "Gold Coast" area at 1029 North Dearborn Street. His offer was accepted, and the building has served as the CCC Clubhouse since. Because of the foresight of the Chicago-area's philatelic fraternity during the formative years, the current CCC membership enjoys the privileges and benefits of a permanent clubhouse building, a comprehensive philatelic library, and the opportunity to socialize monthly or more frequently with fellow collectors having similar interests. Membership in the Collectors Club of Chicago is by invitation only and is ratified by current membership.

RIA was an American restaurant in Chicago, Illinois. Located in the Waldorf Astoria Chicago, it originally opened in 2009, serving upscale French cuisine. RIA was popular with critics, earning many awards, including two Michelin stars. After losing executive chef Jason McLeod in 2011, RIA closed on July 27, 2012, after replacement Danny Grant also left his position at the restaurant.

The Waldorf Astoria Chicago, formerly the Elysian Hotel Chicago, is a luxury hotel located at 11 East Walton Street in the Gold Coast area of Chicago, Illinois.

Oak Street is a short street in Chicago's Gold Coast neighborhood, adjacent to North Michigan Avenue. Because the street houses the highest concentration of luxury brands, "Oak Street" also designates the surrounding area including Rush Street and Walton Street as Chicago's upscale retail district.

The William Waller House is a historic house located at 1012 N. Dearborn St. in the Near North Side neighborhood of Chicago, Illinois. The home was built in 1875–76, shortly after the Great Chicago Fire, during the development of Chicago's prosperous Gold Coast district. The house's Italianate design features a stone exterior, a double bay front, a bracketed and ornamented cornice, arched windows, and decorative keystones. Though Italianate rowhouses are still common in the Near North Side, freestanding Italianate homes are relatively rare, and the Waller House is one of the best-preserved examples of these homes.The house was added to the National Register of Historic Places on November 21, 1980.

Chicago Sinai Congregation (founded 1861) is a notable American Jewish congregation associated with Reform Judaism located in Chicago. The current synagogue was designed by architect Dirk Lohan; completed in 1996, it includes stained glass by British artist Brian Clarke.

The Lathrop House, also known as the Bryan Lathrop House, is a Georgian style house at 120 E Bellevue Place in the Gold Coast neighborhood of Chicago, Illinois, United States. The house was built in 1892 by McKim, Mead & White for Bryan Lathrop. In 1922 the house was sold to the Fortnightly Club. The club still occupies the building. It was designated a Chicago Landmark on May 9, 1973, and it was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1974.

The Fisher Studio Houses are a complex of 12 art moderne style residential units in Chicago, Illinois, United States. The houses were designed in 1936 by Andrew Rebori and Edgar Miller for Frank Fisher, Jr. It was designated a Chicago Landmark on July 31, 1996.

The Newberry Library is an independent research library, specializing in the humanities and located on Washington Square in Chicago, Illinois. It has been free and open to the public since 1887. Its collections encompass a variety of topics related to the history and cultural production of Western Europe and the Americas over the last six centuries. The Library is named to honor the founding bequest from the estate of philanthropist Walter Loomis Newberry. Core collection strengths support research in several subject areas, including maps, travel, and exploration; music from the Renaissance to the early twentieth century; early contact between Western colonizers and Indigenous peoples in the Western Hemisphere; the personal papers of twentieth-century American journalists; the history of printing; and genealogy and local history. Although the Newberry is a noncirculating library, it welcomes researchers into the reading rooms who are at least 14 years old or in the ninth grade, and have a research topic corresponding to the nature of the collections. Additional public services are offered through exhibitions, meet-the-author lectures, adult education seminars, and other programming.

The Great Gritzbe's Flying Food Show was the name of a popular Chicago restaurant during the 1970s. It opened in 1974, under owner Richard Melman. The style was designed by Lettuce Entertain You. Institution magazine selected it as one of the top ten in design for 1975. The restaurant featured a cheese bar and a dessert bar. The interior was painted completely grey. Steve Stone, part owner, also worked there during the off season, as host, wine steward, waiter and bartender.However, by 1983, business had slowed. Melman changed the name to The Not So Great Gritzbe's in a bid to revitalize the restaurant. Business continued to drop off, and several months later, the restaurant closed.Currently, a condominium occupies the site.
