Waldorf Astoria Chicago

RIA was an American restaurant in Chicago, Illinois. Located in the Waldorf Astoria Chicago, it originally opened in 2009, serving upscale French cuisine. RIA was popular with critics, earning many awards, including two Michelin stars. After losing executive chef Jason McLeod in 2011, RIA closed on July 27, 2012, after replacement Danny Grant also left his position at the restaurant.

Chicago Sinai Congregation (founded 1861) is a notable American Jewish congregation associated with Reform Judaism located in Chicago. The current synagogue was designed by architect Dirk Lohan; completed in 1996, it includes stained glass by British artist Brian Clarke.

The Great Gritzbe's Flying Food Show was the name of a popular Chicago restaurant during the 1970s. It opened in 1974, under owner Richard Melman. The style was designed by Lettuce Entertain You. Institution magazine selected it as one of the top ten in design for 1975. The restaurant featured a cheese bar and a dessert bar. The interior was painted completely grey. Steve Stone, part owner, also worked there during the off season, as host, wine steward, waiter and bartender.However, by 1983, business had slowed. Melman changed the name to The Not So Great Gritzbe's in a bid to revitalize the restaurant. Business continued to drop off, and several months later, the restaurant closed.Currently, a condominium occupies the site.

Mister Kelly’s was a nightclub on Rush Street in Chicago which existed from 1953 to 1975. From around 1956 until its demise, it was a springboard to fame for many entertainers, especially jazz singers and comedians. As reported in the Chicago Tribune, "It was a supernova in the local and national nightlife firmament." Mister Kelly’s was owned and operated by brothers Oscar and George Marienthal, whose Chicago empire included the London House, an upscale jazz supper club, and the theatrically oriented Happy Medium.

As a top 3 MBA program in Chicago and the city's No. 1 undergraduate business school, Quinlan is the city's only Jesuit business school and was founded in 1922 to help working-class employees move from the factory floor to the front office. In 2012, it was named for Michael R. Quinlan, the University's two-time alumnus, who worked his way up from the mailroom to the boardroom of McDonald's as chairman and CEO.

Oak Street is a short street in Chicago's Gold Coast neighborhood, adjacent to North Michigan Avenue. Because the street houses the highest concentration of luxury brands, "Oak Street" also designates the surrounding area including Rush Street and Walton Street as Chicago's upscale retail district.

The America Fore Building is a historic office building located at 844 N. Rush Street in the Near North Side neighborhood of Chicago, Illinois. The building was built in 1923 for the America Fore group, a group of four insurance companies with shared leadership. In the early 20th century, commercial development north of the Chicago River was guided first by the Burnham Plan in 1909 and later by the North Central Business District Association, which commissioned a plan of the area in 1919. While the Association mainly focused on development along Michigan Avenue, it also made plans for the surrounding neighborhood, and the America Fore Building was built according to these plans. The building is twelve stories tall, only two higher than the Association's set limit for Michigan Avenue, and features a similar design with stone cladding and large showroom windows.The building was added to the National Register of Historic Places on June 21, 2016.

Mariano Park (also known as Mariano Plaza) is a small public park in Chicago at the intersection of Rush Street and State Street in Gold Coast. It has an official address of 1031 North State Street. The land was initially acquired by the city in 1848 but was not transferred to the Chicago Park District until 1959. Mariano Park was renamed for Louis Mariano, a reporter and editor for the Chicago Daily News, in 1970. Mariano was an editor for World Book Encyclopedia and an associate editor for Science Year, the World Book Science Annual, as well as the assistant managing editor of the World Book Yearbook from 1963 through 1970. His column, "North Looping with Lou Mariano" featured happenings and local celebrities from the vantage point of his office, a table at O'Connell's Sandwich Shop on the corner of Bellevue and Rush Streets. It has a structure designed by Birch Burdette Long, who was a Frank Lloyd Wright protege. The area was colloquially known as "Viagra Triangle" for the many older gentlemen taking young ladies on dates at bars and restaurants.

The Building at 14–16 Pearson Street was a historic residential building located in the Near North Side neighborhood of Chicago, Illinois. Lumber salesman Edwin S. Hartwell had the building built in 1885 as a side venture into real estate. Architect Julius H. Huber designed the building, which was an unusual example of a Queen Anne-inspired brick building. The building's facade featured two bays topped with dormers; the more ornate western bay included corbelling, hipped roofs over the windows, and a metal pinnacle atop its dormer. The second floors of both bays included decorative panels, one featuring a man's head and one featuring a woman's. The building was topped by a mansard roof.The building was added to the National Register of Historic Places on May 8, 1980. Loyola University Chicago's Schreiber Center now occupies the site of the building.

Newberry Plaza is a 553-foot (169 m) full amenity luxury skyscraper located in the affluent Gold Coast neighborhood of Chicago, Illinois. It was named after the Newberry Library that once operated at its location. The complex was completed in 1974 and has 57 floors above ground. Gordon and Levin designed the building, which is the 56th tallest in Chicago. When Newberry Plaza was completed it was the sixth-tallest all-residential skyscraper in the world and the first highrise in the city to have townhomes built on top of a building's pedestal, known as the Skyhomes. The property also contains commercial space under the condominium tower (1050 N State). Former famous businesses include the original location of Morton's The Steakhouse, the opulent restaurant Arnie's, exclusive nightclub Zorine's, both also owned by the Morton family, the Grotto, and Trader Vic's. In addition to its astonishing views of the city, it might be best known for its prominent location as the only residential high-rise building in a well known triangle of high end restaurants on the East and Oak Street on the South.

The Beazley Institute for Health Law and Policy opened at Loyola University Chicago School of Law in 1984, responding to the need for an academic forum to study the burgeoning field of health law and to foster a dialogue between legal and health care professionals. Since that time, the Beazley Institute has grown to offer one of the most comprehensive and respected health law programs in the country, consistently ranked among the best health law programs in the nation by U.S. News & World Report. The Institute today comprises students, faculty, researchers, practitioners, lecturers, librarians and staff working together to educate the health law leaders of tomorrow.

The Institute for Consumer Antitrust Studies is a non-partisan, independent academic center designed to explore the impact of antitrust enforcement on the individual consumer and public, and to shape policy issues. It is located at Loyola University Chicago School of Law in Chicago, Illinois. The School of Law created the institute in 1994 at the direction of then-dean Nina S. Appel, Professor Jane H. Locke, and a variety of other supporters. Funding for the institute was provided via a cy pres award from the late United States District Judge Hubert Will with funds remaining from a large antitrust settlement. In 2009, the institute celebrated its 15th anniversary. Beginning in 2000, Professor Spencer Waller became director of the institute. Professor Waller has authored numerous scholarly articles and several books on the subject of antitrust. Prior to joining the institute, Professor Waller served as associate dean at Brooklyn Law School. In addition to teaching, Professor Waller practiced with the United States Department of Justice Antitrust and Criminal Divisions and with the Chicago law firm of Freeborn & Peters. Shaping the Future of Competition and Consumer Law and Policy, an online brochure, lists the antitrust- and consumer protection-focused courses offered at Loyola University Chicago School of Law, detailed descriptions of the Student Fellow and Senior Research Fellow programs, and also chronicles the institute's involvement with the local and international competition communities.
