Davol Square

Columbus Square is a historic public square in the Historic Elmwood Neighborhood of Providence, Rhode Island. It is located at the intersection of Elmwood Avenue and Reservoir Avenue. It serves as a gateway to Elmwood from the Reservoir and West End Neighborhoods.

The Jewelry District is a neighborhood of Providence, Rhode Island located just southeast of Downtown. The historical path of Interstate 195 delineates the neighborhood's northern border while Interstate 95 and the Providence River define its western, southern and eastern edges.Beginning in the 19th century, the area became a center of jewelry manufacturing. In the 1960s, the area was detached from the rest of Downtown with the construction of Interstate 195. A major construction project completed in 2013 relocated Interstate 195 further south, reconnecting the district with Downtown Providence and freeing 19 buildable acres of land.Contained within the Jewelry District neighborhood is the Providence Jewelry Manufacturing Historic District, added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1985 and expanded in 2012.

The South Street Station (formerly known as The Narragansett Electric Company Power Station or Narragansett Electric Lighting Company Power Station and rebranded in 2017 as South Street Landing) is an historic electrical power generation station at 360 Eddy Street in Providence, Rhode Island. The structure has since been redeveloped and is now used as an administrative office and academic facility by a number of local universities.

The Davol Rubber Company is a historic industrial site at Davol Square, at Point and Eddy Streets in Providence, Rhode Island. The building was constructed in 1880 and added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1980. It is located adjacent to the historic South Street Landing, which was renovated in 2017. The Providence Jewelry Manufacturing Historic District is also nearby.

The Warren Alpert Medical School (formerly known as Brown Medical School, previously known as Brown University School of Medicine) is the medical school of Brown University, located in Providence, Rhode Island. Originally established in 1811, it was the third medical school to be founded in New England after only Harvard and Dartmouth. However, the original program was suspended in 1827, and the four-year medical program was re-established almost 150 years later in 1972, granting the first MD degrees in 1975.Today, the Warren Alpert Medical School is a component of Brown’s Division of Biology and Medicine, which also includes the Program in Biology. Together with the Medical School’s seven affiliated teaching hospitals, the Division attracts over $300 million in external research funding per year.Alpert Medical School earned ranked 14th for primary care education and 35th for research in the 2023 U.S. News & World Report rankings, and was ranked among the top 25 medical schools in the nation by Business Insider in 2016. Graduates of the school are accepted into competitive residency programs and leading medical centers.

The Point Street Bridge is a movable bridge that crosses the Providence River in Providence, Rhode Island, carrying Point Street from the Jewelry District to Wickenden Street at the base of College Hill.

The Michael S. Van Leesten Memorial Bridge is a footbridge crossing the Providence River located in the city of Providence, Rhode Island. The bridge connects Providence's Fox Point neighborhood to the city's Jewelry District. Originally known as the Providence River Pedestrian Bridge, in July 2020 it was renamed in honor of Michael S. Van Leesten. The bridge was built on the piers which supported part of Interstate 195 prior to its relocation.

The Manchester Street Generating Station is a 510 MW gas-fired power station in the Jewelry District of Providence, Rhode Island. The station's main building is located along the Providence River and defined by three 321 foot (98 m) tall smoke stacks. The plant has three Siemens gas turbines and three ABB steam turbines. The power station is owned by Starwood Energy Group, which purchased the facility from Dominion Energy in 2018.

Hope Point Tower (also called Fane Tower) is a proposed skyscraper project in Providence, Rhode Island which consists of one 46-story residential tower.Initially, three residential towers of varying height were proposed. The tallest two towers, at 604 feet (184m) and 485 feet (147m), were to have been the tallest skyscrapers in Rhode Island, and the principal tower would have been one of the tallest residential towers in New England. The current project is to be built on Parcel 42, an acre of vacant land between Dyer Street to its west and a planned riverfront park to its east, which was reclaimed after the moving of Interstate 195.The design consists of a masonry and glass facade with some units having balconies. Amenities for residents would include a private movie theater and gym. The first floors will have shops and restaurants.On July 25, 2017, the I-195 District Commission approved the construction of a single 46-story tower, conditional on zoning approval by the city.On September 25, 2019, the I-195 District Commission approved the final design for the tower.In June 2022 the Rhode Island Supreme Court affirmed a Superior Court decision permitting the zoning variance the city council provided for the building.

Downtown is the central economic, political, and cultural district of the city of Providence, Rhode Island. It is bounded on the east by Canal Street and the Providence River, to the north by Smith Street, to the west by Interstate 95, and to the south by Henderson Street. The highway serves as a physical barrier between the city's commercial core and neighborhoods of Federal Hill, West End, and Upper South Providence. Most of the downtown is listed on the National Register of Historic Places as the Downtown Providence Historic District.

The Thomas F. Hoppin House is a historic house at 383 Benefit Street in the College Hill neighborhood of Providence, Rhode Island. The house was built c. 1853 to a design by Alpheus C. Morse, and is an elaborate local example of an Italianate palazzo-style residence. The Library of Congress called the property "one of the largest and most elegant houses built in Providence in the mid-nineteenth century."

The Governor Stephen Hopkins House is a museum and National Historic Landmark at 15 Hopkins Street in Providence, Rhode Island. The house was the home of Stephen Hopkins—a governor of Rhode Island and signatory of the Declaration of Independence—as well at least six of his slaves.
