The museum opened in 2018 and houses a collection of more than 200 props, costumes and artworks from a number of "classic", mid to late-20th century science fiction franchises. Allendale, often marked on maps as Allendale Town, is a village and civil parish in south west Northumberland, England. It is located within the North Pennines Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. At the 2001 census, the parish had a population of 2,120, decreasing to 2,021 at the 2011 Census. Allendale is within the North Pennines Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB); the second largest of the 40 AONB's in England and Wales. The local economy is predominantly based on agriculture (notably sheep farming) and tourism, although of late it has become a popular commuter town for Newcastle upon Tyne. Allendale is located around 11 miles (18 km) by road from the town of Hexham, and around 34 miles (55 km) from both Carlisle and Newcastle upon Tyne.

Allendale Co-operative Society is a small consumer co-operative in the village of Allendale, Northumberland, England. Founded in 1874 as the Allendale Industrial and Provident Society, the co-operative is one of the few remaining British co-operative retail societies still operating from a single village store. The co-operative is incorporated as a registered society, and as a consumer co-operative the society is owned and democratically controlled by its members who are its customers. Alongside general meetings the members elect a board of directors to oversee the management of the society. In 2021 the co-operative had 1950 members, a turnover of £1.9m, assets of £2.1m and 26 employees. In addition to the store the co-operative also operates a delivery service for the surrounding rural area, as well as leasing out another shop in the village to a butchers and some residential property. As an independent society the co-operative is able to take advantage of the purchasing power of the national retail co-operative wholesaler, Federal Retail and Trading Services, while also sourcing products from local and alternative suppliers.

Langley or Langley-on-Tyne is a small village in Northumberland, England, located to the west of Hexham. The village is on the A686 about 3 miles (5 km) south of Haydon Bridge. The skyline of Langley on Tyne is still dominated by the lead smelting chimney with its underground flue leading to the old smelt works, now a sawmill, where the old tracks for the ore wagons can still be seen. There are currently just over 100 residents.
