Staward Halt railway station

The Allen Confluence Gravels is the name given to a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI) in Northumberland, England. The site, listed since 1968, has an 'outstanding assemblage of river margin invertebrates.'

Allen Banks & Staward Gorge is National Trust property in the English county of Northumberland. It is a Victorian garden in a gorge of the River Allen cutting through woodland. The ruins of Staward Peel, a medieval peel tower, stand on a promontory above the gorge. The property has been designated a Site of Special Scientific Interest for its rich flora and fauna. There is a large suspension bridge which has been ruined by the flooding of January 2005.

Langley or Langley-on-Tyne is a small village in Northumberland, England, located to the west of Hexham. The village is on the A686 about 3 miles (5 km) south of Haydon Bridge. The River Allen is a river in the English county of Northumberland. The river has its sources in the hills of the Northern Pennines, and is formed by the confluence of the East and West Allen rivers. The Allen is itself, a tributary of the River Tyne. The Allen was formerly very polluted from mining activity upstream, but remediation schemes have been implemented to allow the water quality to improve. The river is home to a variety of wildlife including voles and otters.

Whitfield is a village and former civil parish, now in the parish of Plenmeller with Whitfield, in the county of Northumberland, England about 10 miles (16 km) southwest of Hexham. It has a farming community and is set against a beautiful scenic background; sometimes it has been called Little Switzerland. In 1951 the parish had a population of 233. The village lies on the River West Allen which joins with the River East Allen less than a mile away to form the River Allen. The village is serviced with a village shop, pub, school and two churches.
