John Brown IV House

Smuggler's House is a historic house in Swansea, Massachusetts. It is a 1+1⁄2-story Cape style farmhouse, five bays wide, with a side gable roof, a chimney that is slightly off-center, and a pair of gabled dormers. Its main entry is flanked by pilasters and topped by a five-light transom window. The house was built c. 1800, and is substantially unaltered. It was supposedly used as a place to store smuggled goods during the War of 1812.The house was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1990.

The store retains original fixtures, including solid mahogany counters, drawers for goods storage, and the proprietor's desk. The store was built in 1815 by John Brown Luther, and was operated by the Luther family as a store until 1903. The Luther's Corner area was in the mid-19th century the economic center of Swansea, and Luther's Store served as post office and library. It was acquired in 1941 by the Swansea Historical Society, which now operates it as a local history museum.Fall River architect Maude Darling-Parlin worked on the restoration of the Luther Store.The store was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1978.

The current Greek Revival church building was built in 1833 for a congregation with a recorded history of meetings dating to 1680. The Joseph Gardner, the builder was the grandson of Samuel Gardner, one of the early owners of the neck after its purchase from Native Americans.The house was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1990.
