Harold H. Anthony House

The David M. Anthony House is a historic house at 98 Bay Point Avenue on Gardner's Neck in Swansea, Massachusetts. Built in 1895 for a prominent Fall River businessman, it was one of the first summer houses in the area, and is a high quality example of Queen Anne Victorian architecture. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1990.

The Colony Historic District is a historic district at Gardner's Neck and Mattapoisett Roads at Mt. Hope Bay in Swansea, Massachusetts. It includes seven summer cottages, most of which line Mattapoisett Road, which were built mainly between 1896 and 1930. Architecturally, these cottages are all in Shingle or Colonial Revival, and are representative of the summer resort development of Swansea around the turn of the 20th century.The district was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1990.

The J. V. Johnson House is a historic house at 36 Riverview Avenue in Swansea, Massachusetts. This 1-1/2 Craftsman bungalow is locally distinctive for its use of stone as a building material and tile as a roofing material. It has the wide eaves and low-slung dormers characteristic of that style, as well as decorative terra cotta wall panels. Its designer is unknown; it was built in 1913 by Albert Leeming, a local contractor. Its first owner was a businessman who owned a local beverage maker, the Cliquot Club Soda Company.The house was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1990.

The Joseph Gardner House is a historic house in Swansea, Massachusetts. The original five-bay block of this 1+1⁄2-story Cape style house was built c. 1795; it was expanded and converted for summer use c. 1877 during the rise of Gardner's Neck as a summer resort area. The Joseph Gardner, the builder was the grandson of Samuel Gardner, one of the early owners of the neck after its purchase from Native Americans.The house was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1990.

The Francis L. Gardner House is a historic house at 1129 Gardner's Neck Road in Swansea, Massachusetts. The Colonial Revival house was built in 1903 for Francis Gardner, owner of a market garden farm on the site, and a local town selectman.

The Samuel Gardner House is a historic colonial American house in Swansea, Massachusetts. This 1+1⁄2-story wood frame gambrel-roofed house was built c. 1768 by Samuel Gardner, whose father (also named Samuel) was the first English colonist to settle Gardner's Neck after its purchase from local Native Americans. It is a well-preserved 18th century farmhouse.The house was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1990.

South Swansea Baptist Church (formerly South Swansea Union Church) is a historic church building in Swansea, Massachusetts. Built in 1916, it is Swansea's best example of a Shingle-style church. The church was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1990.

The Mount Hope Bay raids were a series of military raids conducted by British troops during the American Revolutionary War against communities on the shores of Mount Hope Bay on May 25 and 31, 1778. The towns of Bristol and Warren, Rhode Island were significantly damaged, and Freetown, Massachusetts (present-day Fall River) was also attacked, although its militia resisted British attacks more successfully. The British destroyed military defenses in the area, including supplies that had been cached by the Continental Army in anticipation of an assault on British-occupied Newport, Rhode Island. Homes as well as municipal and religious buildings were also destroyed in the raids. On May 25, 500 British and Hessian soldiers, under orders from General Sir Robert Pigot, the commander of the British garrison at Newport, Rhode Island, landed between Bristol and Warren, destroyed boats and other supplies, and plundered Bristol. Local resistance was minimal and ineffective in stopping the British activities. Six days later, 100 soldiers descended on Freetown, where less damage was done because local defenders prevented the British from crossing a bridge.

Brayton Point Power Station was a coal-fired power plant located in Somerset, Massachusetts. It was the largest coal-fired generating station in New England, and was the last coal-fired power station in Massachusetts to provide power to the regional grid. It had been owned by the power company Dominion Energy New England since 2005, after it was purchased from PG&E. The plant was owned from August 2013 to April 2015 by Energy Capital Partners, and is now owned by Dynegy. The plant ceased power generation and went offline on June 1, 2017.

Ocean Grove is a census-designated place (CDP) in the town of Swansea in Bristol County, Massachusetts, United States, on the north shore of Mount Hope Bay near the Cole River. The population was 2,811 at the 2010 census, and 2,904 as of the 2020 census.

The Lees River or Lee's River, shown on federal maps as the Lee River, is a 2.9-mile-long (4.7 km) tidal river that forms part of the boundary between Swansea and Somerset, Massachusetts. It flows south to drain into Mount Hope Bay. The first documented local shipyard was established on the river between 1707 and 1712 by Samuel Lee. Today the river is designated as a Class A, "outstanding resource" water.

The John Brown IV House is a historic colonial house in Swansea, Massachusetts. It is a 2+1⁄2-story wood-frame structure, five bays wide, clapboard siding, and a gambrel roof pierced by two gabled dormers. An enclosed entrance portico projects at the center of the main facade, and ells extend the house to the rear. The house was built c. 1752, and is a well-preserved example of a typical period farmhouse from the period. The entry portico and enlarged window above are Colonial Revival (early 20th century) alterations. The Brown family were locally prominent farmers and landowners.The house was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1990.
