Gelston is a village in the South Kesteven district of Lincolnshire, England. It is 2 miles (3 km) west from the A607 road, 5 miles (8 km) north from Grantham, and in the civil parish of Hough-on-the-Hill, a village 1 mile (1.6 km) to the north-east. The village is included in the ecclesiastical parish of Hough-on-the Hill, part of the Loveden Deanery of the Diocese of Lincoln.

It lies 5 miles (8 km) north from Grantham, 8 miles (13 km) south-east from Newark, and 1.5 miles (2.4 km) north from the A1 near Long Bennington Marston Grade I listed Anglican parish church is dedicated to St Mary, and is of 12th-century origin, with an 1881-82 chancel by C. Kirk. Pevsner gives the date of the chancel as 1878, restored and partly rebuilt in Early English style. St Mary's holds monuments to members of the Thorold family.Marston Hall is a Grade II* late 16th-century country house, with further alterations up to the 18th century. Pevsner records a 1962 "gothick" style garden gazebo, designed by John Partridge, with pinnacles by Christopher Blackie and murals by Barbara Jones. Marston Thorold Primary School dates from 1861. It is still somewhat supported by the Dame Margaret Thorold Educational Foundation, is now Church of England voluntary aided.The village also has a church hall, the Thorold Arms public house and a fishery. The Ramada Resort hotel, formerly the Old Barn, is located on Toll Bar Road.

Barkston railway station is a former station serving the village of Barkston, Lincolnshire. It was on the Great Northern Railway main line near to the now realigned (Allington chord) junction with the lines to Sleaford and Lincoln. The station was closed for passengers in 1955 and goods in 1964 . It has been demolished leaving no trace today of its existence.

Loveden is located broadly to the North of Grantham and includes the villages from Long Bennington in the west to Culverthorpe in the east, and from Welby in the south as far north as Welbourn. Brandon is roughly in the centre. Loveden Hill is locally supposed to be the meeting place for the early Wapentake summons, and is the site of both Roman and extensive Anglo-Saxon archaeology. It is situated approximately 7 miles (11 km) due north from the market town of Grantham. The hamlets of Gelston and Brandon are part of the parish. Hough-on-the-Hill is on a significant rise, hence the name.

Grantham North Services is a service area operated by Moto located on the A1 at Gonerby Moor Roundabout, four miles north of Grantham in Lincolnshire, England. The service station has a main car park and coach/lorry park, off which is a BP petrol station. It lies in the parish of Great Gonerby, south of College Farm. It is the only motorway service station in Lincolnshire, which has no motorways (excluding North Lincolnshire and North East Lincolnshire). Very few people refer to it as Grantham North, and is ubiquitously known as the Gonerby Moor Service Area.

The village is situated 8 miles (13 km) north from Grantham and 5 miles (8 km) south-east from Newark-on-Trent in Nottinghamshire. Adjacent villages include Claypole, Dry Doddington, Beckingham and Brandon. The parish church is a Grade II* listed building dedicated to Saint Martin, built in 1799, with a chancel added in 1869.Stubton Hall is a large Grade II listed country house, built in 1813-14 by Sir Jeffry Wyatville for Sir Robert Heron, 2nd Baronet. In 1918 it was purchased by Sir Edmund Royds. After his death in 1946 it was purchased by Lincolnshire County Council, and from 1952 to 2003 it was used as a boarding school, and is now a hotel and wedding venue.
