USNS Joshua Humphreys (T-AO-188) is a Henry J. Kaiser-class replenishment oiler of the United States Navy. She was named for Joshua Humphreys, who designed the six original US Navy frigates. She entered service in 1987 and was placed in reserve just nine years later, but has twice been brought out of reserve and as of 2015 is once more on active duty.

The Philadelphia Naval Shipyard was an important naval shipyard of the United States for almost two centuries.Philadelphia's original navy yard, begun in 1776 on Front Street and Federal Street in what is now the Pennsport section of the city, was the first naval shipyard of the United States. It was replaced by a new, much larger yard developed around facilities begun in 1871 on League Island, at the confluence of the Delaware and Schuylkill rivers. The Navy Yard expansion stimulated the development over time of residential and businesses in South Philadelphia, where many shipyard workers lived. During World War II, some 40,000 workers operated on shifts around the clock to produce and repair ships at the yard for the war effort. The United States Navy ended most of its activities there in the 1990s, closing its base after recommendations by the Base Realignment and Closure commission. In 2000, the Philadelphia Industrial Development Corporation, on behalf of the city of Philadelphia, acquired and began to redevelop the land. First called Philadelphia Naval Business Center, it is now known as The Navy Yard. It is a large mixed-use campus where nearly 15,000 people are employed by more than 120 companies representing a mix of industries. These include cutting-edge cell therapy production facilities, global fashion companies, and a commercial shipyard. The Navy still operates a Naval Inactive Ship Maintenance Facility and a few engineering activities at the site.

League Island was an island in the Delaware River, part of the city of Philadelphia, just upstream from the mouth of the Schuylkill River, which was the site of the Philadelphia Naval Shipyard. It now operates as an industrial park under the name "The Navy Yard". League Island no longer exists as an island, since the Back Channel, which separated it from the mainland, was closed at the eastern end to create land for Mustin Field, a military airfield that was closed in 1963. The western end of the channel became the present Reserve Basin, which holds the ships of the U.S. Navy's reserve fleet.

The first USS Canon (PGM-90/PG-90) was a Asheville-class gunboat in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War. She is currently on donation hold.Canon was laid down by the Tacoma Boatbuilding Company, Tacoma, Washington on 28 June 1966, and commissioned 24 June 1967. Canon served off the coast of Vietnam as part of Operation Market Time. In one operation the ship took 8 rocket hits and 14 crew members wounded. One Navy Cross, three Silver Stars and five Bronze Stars were awarded to members of the crew.Canon was decommissioned on 31 January 1977. She is currently on donation hold, and is berthed at the Naval Inactive Ship Maintenance Facility in Philadelphia, PA, while a group in Wisconsin works to bring her to Sheboygan, Wisconsin. Canon has been identified as pending dismantling by the 2015 US Navy 30 year Shipbuilding Plan.

Marine Barracks is a historic barracks located at the Philadelphia Naval Shipyard, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. It was built in 1901, and is a four-story, red brick and gypsum block building. It features a central rounded archway, open porch, and tile roof. It was built by and remains occupied by the United States Marine Corps.Some of the first Naval Aviators landed and took off from the parade grounds in the front of the building. The Marine Barracks was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1976.

Philly Shipyard, formerly Aker Philadelphia Shipyard, is a commercial shipyard located in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, United States on part of the site of the Philadelphia Naval Shipyard. The commercial yard began after the United States Navy had ended most of its operations at the site. The yard is a listed company on the Oslo Stock Exchange and part of the Aker Group controlled by Kjell Inge Røkke. The yard targets producing ships within the Jones Act for domestic shipping, primarily product tankers and container ships.

The Naval Aircraft Factory (NAF) was established by the United States Navy in 1918 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. It was created to help solve aircraft supply issues which the Navy Department faced upon the entry of the U.S. into World War I. The United Stated Army’s requirements for an enormous quantity of airplanes created a decided lack of interest among aircraft manufacturers in the Navy's requirements for a comparatively small quantity of aircraft. The Navy Department concluded that it was necessary to build a Navy-owned aircraft factory in order to assure a part of its aircraft supply; to obtain cost data for the department’s guidance in its dealings with private manufacturers; and to have under its own control a factory capable of producing experimental designs.

1200 Intrepid is an office building located in The Navy Yard in Philadelphia. It was designed by architectural firm BIG, which is led by Danish architect Bjarke Ingels. It was built by Turner Construction. Construction began in 2015 and was completed in 2016. The building's first tenant is Penn Capital Management. The building was built on spec, without a specific designated tenant. It was designed with the curving shape of battleships in mind, as well as the design of the circular park adjacent the building. Despite the curving of the building's walls, it nevertheless conforms to Robert A. M. Stern's master plan for the Navy Yard, which calls for traditional, box-shaped office buildings.Pharmacy chain Rite Aid leased space in the building in late 2021. The company plans to move its headquarters to the building.

Commandant's Quarters, also known as Quarters "A", is a historic home located at the Philadelphia Naval Shipyard, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. It was built in 1874–1875, and is a three-story, painted brick dwelling in the Italian Villa-style. A porch was added in 1901. It features an off-center square tower, slate covered gable roof, bracketed waves, and a bay window. It was an officer's residence until June 1960.It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1976.On November 1, 2021, as part of National Homeless Awareness Month, Philadelphia mayor Jim Kenney urged that the Biden Administration convert the Commandant's Quarters into a homeless shelter. On November 26, 2021, President Biden announced that he approved of the mayor's initiative. On December 20, 2021, the proposal was introduced in the House of Representatives by Rep. Dwight Evans (D-PA) and in the Senate by Sen. Bob Casey, Jr., and enjoys the support of the Congressional Progressive Caucus.

USS Forrest Sherman (DD-931) was the lead ship of her class of destroyer of the United States Navy. She was named for Admiral Forrest Sherman USN (1896–1951).

USNS Mohawk (T-ATF-170) is a Powhatan-class tugboat owned by the United States Navy that was in service from 1980 to 2005 with the Military Sealift Command before being placed in reserve during 2005. Mohawk was laid down on 23 March 1979 by the Marinette Marine Corporation at Marinette, Wisconsin. Launched on 5 April 1980, and delivered to the U.S. Navy on 16 October 1980, Mohawk was assigned to the Military Sealift Command (MSC), and placed in non-commissioned service as USNS Mohawk (T-ATF-170) in 1980. Mohawk is equipped with a 10-long-ton (10 t) capacity crane and a bollard pull of at least 54 long tons (55 t). A deck grid was fitted aft which contained 1-inch (25 mm) bolt receptacles spaced 24 inches (610 mm) apart. That allowed for the bolting down of a wide variety of portable equipment. There are two GPH fire pumps supplying three fire monitors with up to 2,200 US gallons of foam per minute (0.14 m3/s). A deep module can be embarked to support naval salvage teams. Mohawk was taken out of service on 16 August 2005 and placed in reserve in the Inactive Reserve Fleet at Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

FDR Skatepark is a skatepark located in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, United States. It is accessible from the Pattison Avenue stop of the Broad Street subway line. The park has long been popular with notable local skaters such as Willy Akers, Chuck Treece, Bam Margera and various other local pro skaters. The park was built on unused public land in Franklin Delano Roosevelt Park beneath an overpass of Interstate 95. The park came to be through volunteer labor and donations of materials. Over time the park has expanded with additions and inclusions to the area around the original components of the park.
