Birmingham Ladywood is a constituency of part of the city of Birmingham, represented in the House of Commons since 2010 by Shabana Mahmood of the Labour Party.

The Museum Collection Centre (MCC) in Nechells, Birmingham, England, is a 1.5-hectare (3.7-acre) building that holds 80% of Birmingham Museums Trust's stored collections under one roof. It is one of the UK's largest museum stores. Among the thousands of objects stored there are steam engines (many of which are from the former Birmingham Museum of Science and Industry), sculptures, a collection of Austin, Rover and MG motor cars, a red phone box and a Sinclair C5. It opens to the public monthly, or by arrangement. There are also other open days, which tend to take place during the Spring and Summer Bank Holidays.The Museum Collection Centre is also home to The Museum in a Box service which enables schools and community groups to borrow original artefacts. In September 2014 then-trainee curator Lukas Large uncovered a taxidermied specimen of the long-extinct North American passenger pigeon (Ectopistes migratorius) in the collection.

The Lanchester Car Monument (grid reference SP087883) is an open-air galvanized steel sculpture of the Stanhope Phaeton, or Lanchester motor car. It is in Bloomsbury Village Green, a piece of reclaimed land in the Heartlands (Nechells) area of Birmingham, England. It was designed by Tim Tolkien to commemorate the work of Frederick William Lanchester. At the age of twenty and with no formal qualifications, Lanchester so impressed the owner of the Forward Gas Engine Company of Birmingham that he was offered the position of assistant works manager at their factory near Bloomsbury Street where he made various improvements to the equipment produced by this company. Lanchester resigned from the company in 1893 and went on to produce the first all-British four-wheel petrol car.

Saltley TMD was a traction maintenance depot located in Saltley, Birmingham, England. The depot was situated on the east side of the line between Birmingham New Street and Water Orton, and was near Saltley station until the station closed in 1968. The depot code was SY.

Lawley Street railway station was opened in Birmingham, England on 10 February 1842, by the Birmingham and Derby Junction Railway.The B&DJR had opened on 12 August 1839 with a line to Hampton, where it met the London and Birmingham Railway for passengers from Derby and the North East. Trains would reverse for Birmingham and travel into Curzon Street. This gave problems from the start and, although it had been planned to run direct through a junction near Stechford, this was not proceeded with. Permission was sought for a new line, via the Tame valley, to a new station nearby. In 1842, a new line was opened with a new terminus at Lawley Street. This proceeded from a junction at Whitacre with stations at Forge Mills (later renamed Coleshill), Water Orton and Castle Bromwich. In 1851, the Midland Railway once more began to use Curzon Street with a new spur between Landor Street Junction and Derby Junction. Lawley Street then became a goods depot.

The Battle of Saltley Gate was the mass picketing of a fuel storage depot in Birmingham, England, in February 1972 during a national miners' strike. When the strike began on 9 January 1972, it was generally considered that the miners "could not possibly win." Woodrow Wyatt, writing in the Daily Mirror, said: "Rarely have strikers advanced to the barricades with less enthusiasm or hope of success... The miners have more stacked against them than the Light Brigade in their famous charge." The picketing of the fuel depot – out of which tens of thousands of tons of coke fuel were being distributed nationwide – became a pivotal, and symbolic, event during the strike. Forcing its closure secured victory for the National Union of Mineworkers (NUM).Having closed every coal mine in the country, the miners' union sought to leverage its position by 'freezing' existing stockpiles of fuel in place, preventing them from being transported to the power stations, businesses and heavy industries that depended on them. By the beginning of February, the tactic was becoming effective and the Central Electricity Generating Board warned that power outages were imminent. The "last large accessible" stockpile of solid fuel in the country was held by a West Midlands Gas Board (WMGB) coke plant in Birmingham, where up to 700 vehicles were collecting fuel each day for supply to industry. WMGB argued that as they employed no miners they were not a party to the dispute and so should be allowed to continue supplying their customers. When news of mile-long queues of lorries waiting to collect fuel was published on 3 February in the Birmingham Mail, a small group of miners from nearby Staffordshire set up a picket line at the works.Their numbers proved ineffectual at persuading the lorry drivers to turn back, and Birmingham City Police sent hundreds of officers to ensure the depot gates were kept open. Within days, the Staffordshire pickets' request for assistance was answered by several thousand miners from South Yorkshire and South Wales. By 10 February, the number of pickets and protesters, bolstered by the arrival of unionised workers from other Birmingham industries, had reached upwards of 15,000, and Sir Derrick Capper, the Chief constable of Birmingham City Police, ordered the depot to close its gates "in the interests of public safety."The picketing and closure of the depot has been called "the miners' Agincourt", and brought one of its architects, Arthur Scargill — until then, "an obscure regional union official" — to national prominence as "a tribune of the working classes... hailed by the British magazine Harper's & Queen as one of Britain's leaders of the future."

St James the Less’ Church, Ashted was a former Church of England parish church in Ashted, Birmingham.

Bordesley is an area of Birmingham, England, 1.2 miles (2 km) south east of the city centre straddling the Watery Lane Middleway ring road. It should not be confused with nearby Bordesley Green. Commercial premises dominate to the west of the ring road, but much of this area is to be redeveloped. Blocks of residential apartments are planned and set for completion from the mid-2020s onwards. The largely residential area east of the ring road was renamed Bordesley Village following large scale clearance of back-to-back houses and redevelopment in the 1980s and 90s. Bordesley is the real life setting of the BBC series Peaky Blinders, and home to Birmingham City Football Club's ground, St Andrew's.
