The Place Charles Rogier (French) or Karel Rogierplein (Dutch), usually shortened to the Place Rogier, or Rogier by locals, is a major square in the Brussels municipality of Saint-Josse-ten-Noode, Belgium. It is named in honour of Charles Rogier (1800–1885), a former Prime Minister of Belgium who played a great political role during the Belgian Revolution of 1830. The square is located on the transition between Brussels' historic city centre (the Pentagon) and the Northern Quarter business district (also called Little Manhattan), an exponent of modern Brussels. It is an important communication node in the city both in terms of road network and public transport. Many hotels, offices and shops adjoin it. The Rue Neuve/Nieuwstraat, Belgium's second busiest shopping street, also ends there. It is served by the metro and premetro (underground tram) station Rogier on lines 2, 3, 4 and 6.

The Rogier Tower (French: Tour Rogier, Dutch: Rogiertoren) is a skyscraper located in the Northern Quarter central business district of Saint-Josse-ten-Noode, Brussels (Belgium). It owes its name to Charles Rogier Square on which it is situated. It was formerly known as the Dexia Tower after Dexia bank, but that bank fell victim to the 2007–2012 global financial crisis and the tower's name was changed on 1 March 2012. As Dexia moved its offices in Brussels to the Bastion Tower in Ixelles, Belfius and its subsidiaries are the only occupants of this tower, often also called the Belfius Tower. It is the fourth tallest building in Belgium. It is built on the site of the Rogier International Centre (French: Centre International Rogier, Dutch: Internationaal Rogiercentrum), also called the Martini Tower, which was formerly the tallest building in Belgium, but was demolished in 2001. Constructed between 2002 and 2006, the Rogier Tower is 137 metres (449 ft) tall. It was originally planned to be 179 metres (587 ft) tall, but the proposal was rejected because the height was thought to be excessive. The Rogier Tower is also one of the few towers in Brussels whose roof is not horizontal, instead being made up of three inclined sections. It is also one of the only towers in the world to have a fully glass roof.

The Duchess of Richmond's ball was a ball hosted by Charlotte, Duchess of Richmond in Brussels on 15 June 1815, the night before the Battle of Quatre Bras. Charlotte's husband Charles Lennox, 4th Duke of Richmond, was in command of a reserve force in Brussels, which was protecting that city in case Napoleon Bonaparte invaded. Elizabeth Longford described it as "the most famous ball in history". "The ball was certainly a brilliant affair", at which "with the exception of three generals, every officer high in [Wellington's] army was there to be seen".The proceedings were interrupted soon after the arrival of the Duke of Wellington, when he was notified of Napoleon's unexpected advance on the nearby crossroads of Quatre Bras. This forced him to depart after ordering his officers to leave to join their regiments. Some of the officers would soon die in battle and the poignancy of the drama has provided an enduring theme for artists, novelists and poets.

The Hotel Le Plaza is a five-star luxury hotel in Brussels, Belgium. Built in an Art Deco style with Louis XVI interiors and opened to customers in 1930, it is one of the last independent hotels in Brussels, and also one of the oldest. It has 190 rooms and 14 spacious suites. It has served as a famous meeting place for great statesmen, artists and entertainers. The hotel is located on the Boulevard Adolphe Max/Adolphe Maxlaan, not far from the Place de Brouckère/De Brouckèreplein and the Place Charles Rogier/Karel Rogierplein, as well as Brussels' busiest shopping street; the Rue Neuve/Nieuwstraat. This area is served by the metro and premetro (underground tram) stations De Brouckère (on lines 1, 3, 4 and 5) and Rogier (on lines 2, 3, 4 and 6).

The Northern Quarter (French: Quartier Nord (Espace Nord), Dutch: Noordruimte) is the central business district of Brussels, Belgium. Like La Défense in Paris, the Docklands in London or the Zuidas in Amsterdam, the Northern Quarter consists of a concentrated collection of high-rise buildings where many Belgian and multinational companies have their headquarters. The Northern Quarter roughly covers the area between Willebroek Quay, railways along Brussels-North railway station and the northern side of the Small Ring (Brussels' inner ring road). The territory is thus split between the municipalities of Saint-Josse-ten-Noode, Schaerbeek and the City of Brussels.The area is characterised by high-rise buildings, most around 100 metres (330 ft) tall. Over half of the twenty tallest buildings in Belgium are located in the Northern Quarter. The area has around 1,200,000 m2 (13,000,000 sq ft) of office space occupied by 40,000 workers. It has an additional 8,000 residents.

The L'Innovation fire was a fire which took place at the À L'Innovation department store on the Rue Neuve/Nieuwstraat in Brussels, Belgium, on 22 May 1967. More than 150 firefighters were mobilised to fight it, 325 people were killed, 80 injured, and the department store itself, the work of the architect Victor Horta, was destroyed. The L'Innovation fire remains the deadliest fire in Belgian history.

The Rue Neuve (French) or Nieuwstraat (Dutch), meaning "New Street", is a pedestrian street in central Brussels, Belgium. It runs between the Place de la Monnaie/Muntplein to the south and the Place Charles Rogier/Karel Rogierplein to the north. The Rue Neuve and its close surroundings are the second most popular shopping area in Belgium by number of shoppers, after Meir in Antwerp. It is served by the metro and premetro (underground tram) stations De Brouckère (on lines 1, 3, 4 and 5) and Rogier (on lines 2, 3, 4 and 6).

The Boulevard Adolphe Max (French) or Adolphe Maxlaan (Dutch) is a central boulevard in Brussels, Belgium. It was created following the covering of the river Senne (1867–1871), and bears the name of a former mayor of the City of Brussels, Adolphe Max (1869–1939). The Boulevard Adolphe Max is located between the Place de Brouckère/De Brouckèreplein and the Place Charles Rogier/Karel Rogierplein, in the extension of the Boulevard Anspach/Anspachlaan. It runs parallel to Brussels' busiest shopping street, the Rue Neuve/Nieuwstraat. It is served by the metro and premetro (underground tram) stations De Brouckère (on lines 1, 3, 4 and 5) and Rogier (on lines 2, 3, 4 and 6).

The Laeken Gate (French: Porte de Laeken; Dutch: Lakensepoort) was one of the medieval city gates of the second walls of Brussels, Belgium.

Notre Dame du Bon Succès is a wooden statue of the Madonna and Child in the church of Notre Dame du Finistère in Brussels. Copies of this statue are known as Our Lady of Aberdeen in Scotland. The statue came to Brussels in 1625. It is believed that it was sent by William Laing, the Procurer for the King of Spain, from Aberdeen to Dunkirk. Its history before 1625 is based on uncertain records, but after that date its story is well documented. The statue is made from oak and walnut. There is evidence of repairs from X-ray computed tomography (CT) scanning. Copies of it were made in 1895 for the Catholic cathedral in Aberdeen and the Convent of the Sacred Heart at Queen's Cross, Aberdeen. It is believed that the Brussels statue came from a chapel at the north end of the Bridge of Dee in Aberdeen which was built between 1527 and 1530. Saint-Louis University, Brussels or UCLouvain Saint-Louis Brussels (officially, in French Université Saint-Louis – Bruxelles) is a public university in Brussels, belonging to the French Community of Belgium and specialized in social and human sciences. Prior to 2012 it was known as the Facultés universitaires Saint-Louis (abbreviated FUSL). From September 2018 on, the university uses the name UCLouvain, together with the University of Louvain, in the context of a merger between both universities.
