Highway 45 is the official designation of a 3.3 km stretch of road forming a continuous connection between Route 443 from the Tel Aviv Metropolitan Area and Highway 50 (Begin Boulevard) to central Jerusalem and a 1.4 km spur serving the Atarot Industrial Park.

Bir Nabala (Arabic: بير نبالا; Hebrew: ביר נבאלא) is a Palestinian enclave town in the West Bank located eight kilometers northeast of Jerusalem. In mid-year 2006, it had an estimated population of 6,100 residents. Three Bedouin tribes — Abu Dhak, Tel al ‘Adassa and Jahalin — live in Bir Nabala. Bir Nabala has a built-up area of 1,904 dunams, which combined with nearby al-Jib, Beit Hanina al Balad and al-Judeira form an enclave in the Seam Zone, walled in by the Israeli West Bank barrier.The enclave as a whole is home to approximately 15,000 Palestinians. It is linked to Ramallah by underpasses and a road that is fenced on both sides. From the Biddu enclave, residents travel along a fenced road that passes under a bypass road to Bir Nabala enclave, then on a second underpass under Bypass Road 443 to Ramallah.Prior to the construction of the barrier, Bir Nabala was a commercial center linking Jenin and Tulkarm with the Jerusalem area and the town contained about 600 shops and six tyre factories. In 2007, there were 180 shops and two tyre factories.

Qalandia Camp is a Palestinian refugee camp established in 1949 by the Red Cross on land leased from Jordan. It covers 353 dunums (0.353 km2; 35.3 ha) as of 2006 and has a population of 10,024 with 935 structures divided into 8 blocks. Israeli authorities consider it part of Greater Jerusalem, and it remains under their control.

Qalandia (Arabic: قلنديا, Hebrew: קלנדיה), also Kalandiya, is a Palestinian village located in the West Bank, between Jerusalem and Ramallah, just west from the Jerusalem municipality boundary. In 2006, 1,154 people were living in the village according to the Palestinian Central Bureau of Statistics. Qalandia is also the name of a refugee camp, established by UNRWA in 1949. It is located just east from Jerusalem municipality. Qalandia refugee camp was built for Palestinians refugees from Lydda, Ramle and Jerusalem of the 1948 Palestinian exodus.

Rafat (Arabic: رافات) is a Palestinian town, located approximately 4 km (2.5 mi) southwest of the city of Ramallah in the central West Bank in the northern Jerusalem Governorate. According to the Palestinian Central Bureau of Statistics, it had a population of 2,941 in 2017. Its total land area consists of 3,773 dunams.

Al Jib or al-Jib (Arabic: الجيب) is a Palestinian village in the Jerusalem Governorate of the State of Palestine, located ten kilometers northwest of Jerusalem, partially in the seam zone of the West Bank. The surrounding lands are home to Al Jib Bedouin. Since 1967, Al Jib has been occupied by Israel and about 90% of its lands are classified as Area C. About a quarter of the land is seized by Military Orders for the establishment of Israeli settlements. Al Jib's Al Khalayleh neighborhood was separated from the rest of the city by the West Bank barrier. According to the Palestinian Central Bureau of Statistics, Al Jib had a population of approximately 4,700 in 2006.

The Pool of Gibeon is a site in Gibeon mentioned a number of times in the Hebrew Bible. Archeological evidence locates the historical site of the pool in the village of Jib, in the West Bank Palestinian territories.

Gibeon (Hebrew: גִּבְעוֹן‎, Gīḇəʻōn; Greek: Γαβαων, Gabaōn) was a Canaanite and later an Israelite city, which was located north of Jerusalem. According to Joshua 11:19, the pre-Israelite-conquest inhabitants, the Gibeonites, were Hivites; according to 2 Samuel 21:2, they were Amorites. The remains of Gibeon are located in the southern portion of the Palestinian village of al-Jib.

The Battle of Elasa was fought in April 160 BCE during the Maccabean Revolt between Judean rebels led by Judas Maccabeus (Judah Maccabee) and an army of the Seleucid Empire under the command of Bacchides. The battle resulted in the triumph of the Greek Syrian forces, the defeat of the Maccabees, and the death of Judas Maccabeus. Leadership of the Maccabees would pass to Judas's brother Jonathan Apphus (Yonatan), who would continue to fight against Bacchides for the remainder of 160 BCE. The Seleucids largely triumphed; control of the cities was restored to them including Jerusalem, hostages of important Jewish families were taken, and Greek-aligned garrisons were placed around Judea. Despite this setback, unrest continued in the countryside. The Hasmonean sons of Mattathias continued to oppose the government in the following eight years, and would eventually succeed in gaining allies both among Seleucid rulers and the Romans that would allow for autonomy. Judas's brother Simon Thassi would establish an independent Hasmonean kingdom in 142–141 BCE, fulfilling the goal of the Maccabees.

Atarot (Hebrew: עטרות) was a moshav in Mandatory Palestine, north of Jerusalem along the highway to Ramallah. It was named after the biblical Atarot mentioned in Joshua 16:2, which is believed to have been situated nearby. The moshav was captured and destroyed by the Jordanian Arab Legion during the 1948 Arab-Israeli War. Atarot Airport, closed since the Second Intifada, and Jerusalem's largest industrial park are now located there.

Jerusalem International Airport (Hebrew: נמל התעופה ירושלים, Arabic: مطار القدس الدولي) (IATA: JRS, ICAO: LLJR, OJJR), (also Kalandia Airport, Qalandia Airport, and Atarot Airport) is a regional airport, currently not in use, located between Jerusalem and Ramallah. When it was opened in 1924 it was the first airport in the British Mandate for Palestine. Under the British Mandate in Palestine Cyprus Airways flew to the airport, and this continued intermittently after Cyprus gained independence from Britain in 1960, and Royal Jordanian and Middle East Airlines operated daily commercial flights to and from Atarot airport between 1948 and 1967 under Jordanian rule.After Israel occupied the West Bank during the Six-Day War in 1967, it came under Israeli occupation. It was annexed to Israel in 1981 under the Jerusalem Law. Arkia and El Al Israel Airlines operated daily commercial flights to and from the airport between 1967 and 2001, when the airport was closed to civilian traffic after the breakout of the Second Intifada in 2000.

Ofer Prison (Hebrew: כלא עופר, Kele Ofer), formerly officially known as Incarceration Facility 385 (מתקן כליאה 385‎), is an Israeli incarceration facility (מתקן כליאה‎ mitkan kli'a, abbr. Matak) located in the West Bank, between Ramallah/Beituniya and Giv'at Ze'ev. It is one of three facilities of the same nature, including the Megiddo and Ktzi'ot prisons, the latter two located in Israel and not in the West Bank. Ofer Prison is run by the Israel Prison Service and like the other two facilities, used to be operated by the Israel Defense Forces' Military Police Corps. When under IDF control, it was capable of holding up to 800 prisoners, both tried and those under administrative detention. As of September 2016, it holds about 1,250 Palestinian prisoners.
