Negro Mountain is a long ridge of the Allegheny Mountains in the eastern United States, stretching 30-mile (48 km) from Deep Creek Lake in Maryland north to the Casselman River in Pennsylvania. The summit, Mount Davis, is the highest point (3,213 feet) in Pennsylvania. Negro Mountain is flanked by Laurel Hill to the west and Allegheny Mountain to the east.

Deer Valley YMCA Camp is a YMCA summer camp located between Fort Hill, Pennsylvania and Meyersdale, Pennsylvania. It sits on 742 acres of mountainous lands near Mount Davis, the highest peak in Pennsylvania, and includes 125-acre Deer Valley Lake. Deer Valley operates ten months out of the year and offers summer camp experience to families and various organizations from all around the country.

The Casselman Wind Power Project is a wind farm in Somerset County, Pennsylvania with 23 GE 1.5 MW Wind Turbines that began commercial operation in 2007. The wind farm has a combined total nameplate capacity of 34.5 megawatts, but actually produces about 90,666 megawatt-hours of electricity annually. The wind farm was developed by PPM Energy and constructed by Iberdrola, based in Spain. Power produced at the wind farm is distributed by First Energy.Eight of the project's 23 wind turbines sit atop a rehabilitated surface mine. In addition, the former mining site also hosts the wind farm's operation center, collector transformer and interconnection facility.

Fort Hill is an unincorporated community in Somerset County, Pennsylvania, United States. The community is located along the Casselman River, 4.6 miles (7.4 km) east-northeast of Confluence. Fort Hill has a post office, with ZIP code 15540, which opened on December 23, 1885.Fort Hill was the location of a Monongahela Native American settlement, which a 1939-1940 WPA excavation directed by Edgar Augustine dated to circa 1275-1300.Fort Hill sits along the old Baltimore and Ohio Railroad main line; a view of the natural landmark appeared in a collection of photographs from along the B&O's lines that was published in book form in 1872 and digitized by the DeGolyer Library, Southern Methodist University.Fort Hill has a trail access area for the Great Allegheny Passage rail trail. This is the only trail access area with parking between Markleton to the northeast and Harnedsville to the southwest.

Keysers Ridge is an unincorporated community in northern Garrett County, Maryland, United States. Named after William Keyser, vice president of the Baltimore & Ohio Railroad at the time, it lies to the west of Grantsville on Interstate 68 and is bounded to the northwest by the Savage River State Forest. It is primarily known for its key location on Interstate 68 and U.S. Route 40. In the past, Keysers Ridge was feared by travelers on the National Road due to its very harsh weather conditions as a result of its location at the top of a ridge to the west of Negro Mountain. The most snowfall ever recorded in a single winter in Maryland was during the winter of 2009–10, when 262.5 inches of snow fell at Keysers Ridge.

The Green Mountain Wind Energy Center was a wind power plant near Garrett, Somerset County, Pennsylvania with eight Nordex 1.3 MW turbines that began commercial operation in May 2000. This was the first commercial wind farm constructed in Pennsylvania. The wind farm had a combined total nameplate capacity of 10.4 MW and the potential to produce about 27,000 megawatt-hours of electricity annually, enough to power 3,300 homes, assuming a 30% capacity factor. The wind farm was developed by National Wind Power of the UK, now part of NPower Renewables, operated by NextEra Energy Resources, based in Florida. Energy from the wind farm was purchased and sold by Green Mountain Energy based in Texas, and was the first commercial wind farm for Green Mountain Energy. In 2016 the wind farm was dismantled and replaced with new battery technology.

Addison Township is a township in Somerset County, Pennsylvania, United States. The population was 932 at the 2020 census. It is part of the Johnstown, Pennsylvania, Metropolitan Statistical Area. The township is named for Alexander Addison, the first president judge (the chief judge within a U.S. judicial district) overseeing Somerset County.
