Baihe District (Chinese: 白河區; pinyin: Báihé Qū; Wade–Giles: Pai2-ho2 Ch'ü1; Pe̍h-ōe-jī: Pe̍h-hô-khu) is a district located in Tainan, Taiwan. It is known for its hot springs and lotus farming. The town borders Chiayi County to the north and east, Dongshan District to the south, and Houbi District to the west. Some indigenous Siraya people live here, although their lifestyles and traditions were almost replaced (or perhaps were absorbed) by Han Chinese culture.

Baishuei River

The Baishuei River (Chinese: 白水溪; Hanyu Pinyin: Báishuǐ Xī; Tongyong Pinyin: Báishuěi Si; Wade–Giles: Pai2-shui3 Hsi1; Pe̍h-ōe-jī: Pe̍h-chúi-khe) is a river in Taiwan which flows through Tainan City for 20 km (12.427 mi). 1941 Chungpu earthquake

The 1941 Chungpu earthquake (Chinese: 1941年中埔地震; pinyin: 1941 nián Zhōngpǔ Dìzhèn) occurred with a magnitude of 7.1 on December 17, and was centred on the town of Chūho Village, Kagi District, Tainan Prefecture of Taiwan under Japanese rule. It was the fourth-deadliest earthquake of the 20th century in Taiwan, claiming 358 lives.
