Shuishang

Shuishang (Chinese: 水上車站; Hanyu Pinyin: Shuǐshàng Chēzhàn; Tongyong Pinyin: Shuěishàng Chejhàn) is a railway station on the Taiwan Railways Administration West Coast line located in Shuishang Township, Chiayi County, Taiwan.

Chiayi Air Base (Chinese: 嘉義空軍基地) is an air base of the Republic of China Air Force that is co-located with Chiayi Airport in Chiayi County, Taiwan. A number of US Air Force units have been stationed at Chiayi Air Base, including the 67th Fighter-Bomber Squadron from 27 January – 17 February 1955 and 1 July – 1 October 1955. 19 February – 1 March 1958, Reconnaissance Task Force KENTUCKY, Kentucky Air National Guard deployed to Taoyuan and Chiayi Air Bases. 4 March 1955, 310th Fighter-Bomber Squadron deployed from Osan Air Base, South Korea, to Chiayi Air Force Base for air defense missions. Between January 1955 and July 1968, the 51st Fighter-Interceptor Wing and 18th Tactical Fighter Wing was temporary task assignments (TDY) from Naha Air Base and Kadena Air Base in Okinawa, fighter jets are frequently rotated to Chiayi Air Base every 60-90 days.

Chiayi Airport (Chinese: 嘉義航空站; pinyin: Jiāyì Hángkōngzhàn) (IATA: CYI, ICAO: RCKU), commonly known as Shueishang Airport (Chinese: 水上機場; pinyin: Shuǐshàng Jīchǎng), is an airport in Shuishang Township, Chiayi County, Taiwan. The airport has one runway, and it is used as a civilian airport and is co-located next to Chiayi Air Base. Chiayi Airport is envisioned as a gateway to the Alishan National Scenic Area, a popular tourist destination in Taiwan.Opened in 1976, Chiayi Airport was one of the airports in Taiwan that were severely affected by the opening of the Taiwan High Speed Rail in 2007. Uni Air is the sole operator of scheduled flights to the airport. Although listed as an international airport by the Taiwanese government, the joint use of Chiayi Airport's facilities by the Republic of China Air Force and the lack of complete customs and immigration facilities at the airport restricts the use of the airport by international flights. As such, the airport has no scheduled international flights; it is only served internationally by occasional chartered flights.
