The Boonton Gorge is a river gorge in Boonton, New Jersey where the Rockaway River drops over several waterfalls, and travels for slightly over a mile before emptying into the Jersey City Reservoir.

The Arch Bridge from the Boonton Ironworks crosses the Rockaway River in Grace Lord Park in the town of Boonton in Morris County, New Jersey. The single-span fieldstone arch bridge was built by John Carson Sr. in 1866 to carry a water pipe to the ironworks. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places on September 1, 2022, for its significance in engineering. It is currently used as a pedestrian bridge.

The Boonton Public Library, also known as the Holmes Library, is located at 619 Main Street in the town of Boonton in Morris County, New Jersey. Built c. 1849, the Greek Revival building was purchased by James Holmes in 1856 and became the public library in 1893. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places on November 13, 1972, for its significance in communications, education, and social history. It was added as a contributing property to the Boonton Historic District on September 29, 1980.

The Boonton Historic District is a 9-acre (3.6 ha) historic district along Main, Church, Birch, Cornelia, and Cedar Streets in the town of Boonton in Morris County, New Jersey. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places on September 29, 1980, for its significance in architecture. The district has 22 contributing buildings, including the Boonton Public Library, which was previously listed individually on the NRHP.

Mountain Lakes High School is a four-year comprehensive public high school that serves students in ninth through twelfth grade from Mountain Lakes, in Morris County, New Jersey, United States, operating as the lone secondary school of the Mountain Lakes Schools. The school has been accredited by the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Elementary and Secondary Schools since 1940.Students from Boonton Township attend the school as part of a sending/receiving relationship with the Boonton Township School District.As of the 2019–20 school year, the school had an enrollment of 653 students and 61.0 classroom teachers (on an FTE basis), for a student–teacher ratio of 10.7:1. There were 8 students (1.2% of enrollment) eligible for free lunch and 1 (0.2% of students) eligible for reduced-cost lunch.

The Boonton Township School District is a community public school district that serves students in pre-kindergarten through eighth grade from Boonton Township, in Morris County, New Jersey, United States. As of the 2017-18 school year, the district, comprising one school, had an enrollment of 429 students and 39.9 classroom teachers (on an FTE basis), for a student–teacher ratio of 10.7:1.The district is classified by the New Jersey Department of Education as being in District Factor Group "I", the second-highest of eight groupings. District Factor Groups organize districts statewide to allow comparison by common socioeconomic characteristics of the local districts. From lowest socioeconomic status to highest, the categories are A, B, CD, DE, FG, GH, I and J.For ninth through twelfth grades, public school students attend Mountain Lakes High School, in Mountain Lakes as part of a sending/receiving relationship agreement. As of the 2017-18 school year, the high school had an enrollment of 680 students and 61.9 classroom teachers (on an FTE basis), for a student–teacher ratio of 11.0:1. Prior to 1991, high school students had attended Boonton High School.

The Tourne is a county park in Morris County, New Jersey. The park covers 547 acres (2.2 km²) in four different municipalities, Mountain Lakes, Denville, Boonton Township, and Parsippany. It includes bike trails, equestrian trails, hiking trails, picnic areas and play areas. Sledding and cross-country skiing are also allowed in the winter. Hiking and biking are the most common activity at this park with several miles of gravel trails that climb a small mountain that has scenic views of the Rockaway Valley and east to New York City, which locals dubbed "The New York Overlook". The top of The Tourne is a great place to stop after a hard hike or ride and also has a 9/11 memorial to honor the fallen. Much of this land was inherited and acquired by Clarence Addington DeCamp in the late 1850s. Using hand tools and levers, DeCamp built two roads leading to the top of the Tourne. Considered one of Morris County's first conservationists, DeCamp encouraged local residents to accompany him on hikes in the woods and fields. In 1958 the Morris County Park Commission wisely acquired the initial 219 acres (0.89 km2) from Logan Steele and Dr. Lewis Hull and opened the park to the public in 1960.The Tourne offers many great mountain bike riding opportunities with over 25 miles of trails. It connects to Birchwood lake which is a great place to rest. You can ride up to the top or you can ride to the other top, dubbed the “Fake Summit” by local Mountain Bikers.

The Boonton Iron Works were founded about 1770 by Samuel Ogden who, with others in his family, purchased a 6-acre (24,000 m2) tract along the Rockaway River, near present-day Boonton, New Jersey. Here rolling and slitting mills were erected that engaged in the manufacture of nail rods and bar iron. With the construction of the Morris Canal in 1830, the New Jersey Iron Company was organized. This company built a new plant costing $283,000 and imported skilled mechanics from England. Under Fuller & Lord (1852–1876) the enterprise become an integrated industry with ore and timber reserves, canal boats, furnaces, mills and auxiliary plants. After 1881, the business slowly declined. The plant closed in 1911.

Boonton is a NJ Transit station in Boonton, Morris County, New Jersey, United States along the Montclair-Boonton Line. It is located on Main Street (County Route 511), near Myrtle Avenue (U.S. Route 202) and I-287. The original 1905 station was built by architect Frank J. Nies who built other stations for the Delaware, Lackawanna and Western Railroad. Unlike most of his stations which tended to be massive Renaissance structures, Boonton station was built as a simple Prairie House design. The station house is now a bar, and was added to the National Register of Historic Places on July 13, 1977, two years before the establishment of New Jersey Transit and six years before becoming part of their railroad division.

Boonton is a town in Morris County, New Jersey, United States. As of the 2010 United States Census, the town's population was 8,347, reflecting a decline of 149 (−1.8%) from the 8,496 counted in the 2000 Census, which had in turn increased by 153 (+1.8%) from the 8,343 counted in the 1990 Census. The settlement was originally called "Boone-Towne" in 1761 in honor of the Colonial Governor Thomas Boone.Boonton was originally formed on March 16, 1866, within portions of Hanover Township and Pequannock Township. The town was reincorporated and became fully independent on March 18, 1867.The development of Boonton began in about 1829, as a result of the construction of the Morris Canal and the formation of the New Jersey Iron Company. The original location of the town is now largely under the Jersey City Reservoir, completed in 1904. In 1908, the waters from this reservoir were the first municipal water supply in the United States to be chlorinated. The decision to build the chlorination system was made by John L. Leal and the facility was designed by George W. Fuller.

The Boonton Historical Society and Museum, is located at 210 Main Street in Boonton, New Jersey. The building was constructed in 1898 as a private residence for Dr. John Taylor and his wife Adelaide Kanouse. Since 1959, the building has served as local history museum beneath the auspices of the Boonton Historical Society.

Sheep Hill Observatory is an Astronomical observatory located in Morris County, New Jersey. It features an 18-inch (457mm) Newtonian reflecting telescope and is open to the public on the 3rd Friday evening of each month, weather permitting. It is also made available to Schools, Scouting Groups and other educational groups upon request.
