Bochum-Linden

Dahlhausen is a South-Western district of the city of Bochum in North Rhine-Westphalia in Germany. It borders Essen and Hattingen. A large part of the border of Dahlhausen is formed by the river Ruhr. South of the Ruhr is the district of Burgaltendorf of the city of Essen. Dahlhausen houses the well known railway museum of Dahlhausen. The Dr. C. Otto & Comp. is an old company of international importance. Bochum-Dahlhausen station is served by Line S 3 of the Rhine-Ruhr S-Bahn. Tram line 318 of the Bochum Stadtbahn connects Dahlhausen to the historical centre of Bochum, which is similar in extent to the district of Gleisdreieck. Dahlhausen is in a way separate from the rest from the city, keeping a greater continuity than other parts of the city

The Ruhr Valley Railway (German: Ruhrtalbahn) is a partly abandoned railway line in the German state of North Rhine-Westphalia, running from Düsseldorf-Rath via Old Kupferdreh station, Bochum-Dahlhausen, Witten-Herbede, Hagen-Vorhalle and Schwerte to Warburg. It was built between 1872 and 1876 by the Bergisch-Märkische Railway Company (Bergisch-Märkischen Eisenbahn-Gesellschaft), one of the three major private railway companies in the Ruhr area. The railway tracks that were built along the Ruhr river had a relatively uniform grade that was suitable for railway operations at the time. The Ruhr Valley line primarily served the transport of coal to the port of Ruhrort, bypassing the Heißen hills. In the heyday of coal mining in the Ruhr, sidings provided a high volume of coal traffic and the line also served the, now closed, Henrichshütte steel works in Hattingen. In addition to the Ruhr Valley line, which at its western end from Kettwig to Düsseldorf does not run along the Ruhr River, there was also the Lower Ruhr Valley Railway, which ran from Kettwig along the Ruhr to Styrum, but was closed in 1978 and later demolished.

Bochum Observatory, often known in Bochum as Cape Kaminski (German: Kap Kaminski) is a research institute in Bochum, Nordrhein-Westfalen, Germany. The institution came into being through a private initiative. Its main areas of interest are in radio astronomy and environmental research.

Eppendorf (German pronunciation ; Westphalian: Eppendörp) is a district of Bochum in the Ruhr area in North Rhine-Westphalia in Germany. It lies between Höntrop and Weitmar. The population used to speak Westphalian, but now High German languages are the norm. Eppendorf belongs to the Stadtbezirk (district of the town) of Wattenscheid, which was a town until 1974. Eppendorf is the richest part of Wattenscheid.

It is a terminus station for the S3 line of Rhine-Ruhr S-Bahn and is classified by Deutsche Bahn as a category 6 station.The station was opened by Deutsche Bundesbahn on 3 July 1987.It is served by Rhine-Ruhr S-Bahn line S 3 every 30 minutes, tram route 308 (every 10 minutes) and 11 bus routes: CE31 (every 20 minutes), SB37 (every 60 minutes), SB38 (every 60 minutes), 141 (every 30 minutes), 330 (every 120 minutes), 331 (every 60–120 minutes), 332 (every 60 minutes), 359 (every 30 minutes), 558 (every 60 minutes), 559 (every 60 minutes) and 647 (every 20/40 minutes), operated by BOGESTRA, Verkehrsgesellschaft Ennepe-Ruhr and WSW mobil.

Wattenscheid-Höntrop station is a railway station in the district of Wattenscheid of the city of Bochum in the German state of North Rhine-Westphalia. It is on the 97 km-long (60 mi) route of Rhine-Ruhr S-Bahn line S 1 from Dortmund to Solingen. Wattenscheid station, which is more than a kilometre to the northwest is only served by regional trains.

The Eisenbahnmuseum Bochum-Dahlhausen is a railway museum situated south of the city of Bochum in the state of North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany. It was founded by DGEG, the German Railway History Company in 1977 and is based in a locomotive depot that was built between 1916 and 1918 and ceased operation in 1969. Then DGEG took over the whole area of 46,000 square metres and built up the biggest railway museum in Germany. In the middle of the museum, there is an engine shed with fourteen tracks. A preserved turntable, coaling, watering, and sanding facilities are still in operation. This museum is integrated into The Industrial Heritage Trail (Route der Industriekultur) a route of monuments from the history of the industry.
