Ransart, Belgium

The Arrondissement of Charleroi (French: Arrondissement de Charleroi; Dutch: Arrondissement Charleroi) is one of the seven administrative arrondissements in the Walloon province of Hainaut, Belgium. It is both an administrative and a judicial arrondissement. However, the Judicial Arrondissement of Charleroi also comprises the municipalities of the Arrondissement of Thuin.

Brussels South Charleroi Airport (BSCA), also informally called Brussels-Charleroi Airport or Charleroi Airport (IATA: CRL, ICAO: EBCI), is an international airport located in Gosselies, a part of the city of Charleroi, Belgium. The airport is 4 nautical miles (7.4 km; 4.6 mi) north of Charleroi and 46 km (28+1⁄2 mi) south of central Brussels. The airport is the second busiest in Belgium in terms of passengers and aircraft movements, having served 8,224,196 passengers in 2019 (82,043 movements). It is also a busy general aviation airfield, being home to three flight schools. The Aéropole, one of the Science Parks of Wallonia, is also located near the airport.

The Aéropole Science Park is a business incubator and science park located in Gosselies, Charleroi, Belgium, nearby the Brussels South Charleroi Airport. It hosts 150 companies, providing around 3,600 jobs. Business and academic clusters are growing up in the following fields : aeronautics, ICT, biotechnologies, industrial engineering, training and R&D centres.The science park hosts several research institutes including the Centre of Excellence in Information Technology (CETIC), a joint a centre of expertise for the development of Walloon companies founded by the universities of Louvain-la-Neuve (UCLouvain), Namur and Mons; the Cenaero (Research Centre in Aeronautics), an institute for the development of aeronautics and space industry of UCLouvain, the University of Liège and the Université libre de Bruxelles, and the ULB Institute for Molecular Biology & Medicine and the Institute for Medical Immunology, in collaboration with GlaxoSmithKline Biologicals. The cluster hosts three spin-offs from UCLouvain: Cedit, a technology company, and since 2011, iTeos, a pharmaceutical company founded within the de Duve Institute at UCLouvain Brussels Woluwe and which raised a capital of 75 million US dollars in 2018, and Viridaxis, since 2011.Several spin-offs of the Université libre de Bruxelles have their headquarters on the site: Henogen, DNA Vision, Bone Therapeutics, Euroscreen, Delphi Genetics, Aliwen, BV Transgenics Services, BioCygnus and ImmuneHealth.

Gazomètre is a Charleroi Metro station, located in Gilly (part of the Charleroi municipality), in fare zone 2. Gazomètre is an underground station featuring a central platform, with street access at the eastern end only. While trams drive on the right on most of the Charleroi Pre-metro network, they drive on the left on the Gilly line, of which Gazomètre is part.

Gilly is a Charleroi Metro station, located in Gilly (part of the Charleroi municipality), in fare zone 2. Gilly is an underground station featuring a central platform Until the opening of the Soleilmont extension on 27 February 2012, Gilly was the terminus of former lines 54 and 55. Gilly station was opened on 28 August 1992, although it had been built in the eighties. It was refurbished in 2008 and reopened in its current version on 23 April 2008. One of the walls is adorned with coat of arms of other Gilly's in Europe, while the opposite wall features the lyrics of La p'tite gayole, a song in Walloon language written by Belgian artist Oscar Sabeau. While trams drive on the right on most of the Charleroi Pre-metro network, they drive on the left on the Gilly line.

Samaritaine is a Charleroi Metro station, located in the northeastern end of Charleroi downtown, in fare zone 1. Samaritaine is an underground station featuring a central platform, with street access at both ends. While trams drive on the right on most of the Charleroi Pre-metro network, they drive on the left on the Gilly line, of which Samaritaine is part. The change of side occurs between Waterloo and Samaritaine.

Marabout is a Charleroi Metro station located in Gilly, Belgium (part of the Charleroi municipality), opened on 27 February 2012 as part of the Soleilmont extension of the Gilly branch of the Charleroi Pre-metro. The station is entirely underground and features a central platform with street access at its western end. Decoration inside the station depicts old views of Charleroi. The station is located in TEC Charleroi fare zone 2. The main station structure was built in the 1980s but was never put into service until 27 February 2012.

The DÔME is an indoor arena that is located in Charleroi, Belgium. It currently can seat 6,300 spectators (5,440 fan seats, 160 lodge seats, 700 business seats). It is mainly used to host indoor sporting events such as tennis and basketball and concerts. However, since they switch the name to DÔME in March 2019, the Arena is also used for a wide range of activities such as conferences, seminaire, enterprise dinner and much more.

Sart-Culpart is a Charleroi Metro station located in Gilly, Belgium (part of the Charleroi municipality), opened on 27 February 2012 as part of the Soleilmont extension of the Gilly branch of the Charleroi Pre-metro. The station is built at ground level and features a two lateral platforms. The station is located in TEC Charleroi fare zone 2. The original Sart-Culpart station structure was built in the 1980s as an underground station slightly to the east of the current location, but has never been put into service since then. The unfinished station has been vandalized through the years and it was rebuilt in a more urbanized and secure location as part of the 2009-2011 extension of the Gilly branch of the network.The station is located in a residential area of Gilly (the Sart-Culpart neighbourhood). There is no train or bus interchange at this station.

Waterloo is a Charleroi Metro station, located at the northern end of Charleroi downtown, in fare zone 1. The station has 3 street entrances (two on each side of the Jules Hénin Avenue, one on the Jules Hiérnaux Square), leading to the lowest level. Platforms are located on the upper level and are accessible through escalators and stairs. The station has one lateral platform which is currently not used (and not connected to any tram tracks). All current lines use a central platform. Waterloo is also the starting point of the partially built but unused Centenaire line. Starting from Waterloo is a short track section running to the North and surfacing north of the Jules Hiérnaux Square, which would have been the starting point of pre-metro lines to Lodelinsart and Gosselies on one side, and Ransart and Heppignies on the other side. (A tram line to Gosselies, beginning at Piges, has been built since.) The station features an extensive track network, allowing light rail vehicles to pass the station and reverse the travel direction by entering it from opposite direction (first bypassing it by a passing loop) or by travelling back after departing the station using a passing loop. On the initial project plan for the Charleroi Pre-metro, the Waterloo station was called Nord (French for North).

Maransart (Walloon: Maransåt) is a Belgian town and district of the municipality of Lasne, Wallonia in the province of Walloon Brabant. The holotype of the extinct crocodilian Dollosuchoides was discovered here in 1915 and the Middle Eocene Brussel Formation, where Dollosuchoides was recovered from, is known to outcrop near Maransart.

Lodelinsart (Walloon: Lodlinsåt) is a town of Wallonia and a district of the municipality of Charleroi, located in the province of Hainaut, Belgium. It was a municipality of its own before the fusion of the Belgian municipalities in 1977.
