In 1895 Hertfordshire played their first Minor Counties Championship match on the ground, which came against Norfolk. From 1895 to the present day, the ground has played host to 54 Minor Counties Championship matches and 6 MCCA Knockout Trophy matches.The ground has hosted a single first-class match, which came in 1872 when a United South of England Eleven played a United North of England Eleven.The first List-A match played on the ground came in the 1991 NatWest Trophy between Hertfordshire and Derbyshire. The second and final List-A match played at the ground was between Hertfordshire and Ireland in the 2004 Cheltenham & Gloucester Trophy.The Essex Second XI has also used the ground for a number of matches. In local domestic cricket, Cricket Field Lane is the home ground of Bishop's Stortford Cricket Club who play in the Home Counties Premier Cricket League.

Part of Manuden is designated as a conservation area, with several listed buildings in and around the village.The local church is St Mary the Virgin. A tablet within the church commemorates the Jacobean statesman and diplomat William Wade, who spent his retirement at Battles Hall in the village, and is buried in the church.There is a primary school in the village. In 2010, Manuden County Primary School topped the league table for English schools at KS2 with all pupils attaining level 5 in both English and maths.There are several active village organisations, including a local history society, junior football club and a cricket club.

Waytemore Castle is a ruined castle in the town of Bishop's Stortford in Hertfordshire, England. The remains are a Grade I listed structure.This began as a motte and bailey castle in the time of William the Conqueror. A rectangular great tower was added on the motte in the 12th century. It was improved in the 13th century during the reign of King John and a licence to crenellate was granted in the mid-14th century. It was slighted after the Civil War. In the 17th century it was used as a prison. Only earthworks, the large motte and foundations of a square tower can now be seen.
