Bocking Windmill

Doreward's Hall is a partly brick and partly timber-framed and plastered house in Bocking, Essex, England. The house is said to have been rebuilt by Edward Thursby in 1579, but may be of earlier date; the date, 1572, on the southwest end of the West wing is said not to be original. It has been modified a number of times since then. It was designated a Grade II* Listed Building in 1951.

The college was originally an independently controlled institution, but merged with Colchester Institute on 29 February 2010. Braintree Campus is Colchester Institute's second largest facility. Courses offered focus on skills priority areas for Essex. These include Technology, Engineering, Construction, Business and Media. The £5.6m Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths (STEM) Innovation Centre opened in September 2017 and features high-tech workshops, replica industrial facilities and state-of-the-art equipment. The centre provides training opportunities in construction and trades, engineering processes, digital media and manufacturing. Opened in 2019 the Learning and Technology Centre focuses on high-tech IT and digital media facilities including new workshops, computer suites and virtual reality headsets.

Bocking Blackwater is a 13.1 hectare Local Nature Reserve in Braintree in Essex. It is owned and managed by Braintree District Council. In 2016 the council proposed to extend the boundaries of the site.The site is a long narrow strip along the south bank of the River Blackwater between Bradford Bridge and the A131 road. It has a wide variety of plant species, including veteran trees, and its habitats are wetland, woodland, scrub, wildflower meadows and grassland.There is access at many points along its boundary.

Bocking village was historically in two parts; the original settlement around the parish church became known as Bocking Churchstreet, while a separate linear settlement called Bocking grew up a little way to the south along Bradford Street and The Causeway, adjoining the northern edge of Braintree. The parish of Bocking was abolished in 1934, merging with Braintree to become the urban district of Braintree and Bocking, which was in turn abolished in 1974 to become part of Braintree District. Both parts of Bocking now form part of the Braintree built up area.Bocking forms an electoral division for Essex County Council elections, and gives its name to Bocking Blackwater, Bocking North and Bocking South wards of Braintree District Council.

Bovingdon Hall Woods is a 69.4-hectare (171-acre) biological Site of Special Scientific Interest north of Braintree in Essex. It is composed of several woods, including Parkhall Wood, Bovingdon Wood, Shoulder of Mutton Wood, and Maid's Wood.The site is coppice woodland of medieval origin on chalky boulder clay. It has unusual woodland types, such as small-leaved lime and plateau alder. Other trees include sessile and pedunculate oak, ash, maple and hornbeam, with occasional wild service tree. The understory has elder, hazel, field maple and hawthorn, while the ground flora is donated by bramble. There are many natural ponds and dells.The site is private land with no public access.
