Gesves

Grandpré Abbey (French: Abbaye de Grandpré) is a former Cistercian abbey located at Faulx-les-Tombes (in the present municipality of Gesves), in the province of Namur, Wallonia, Belgium. The only remains of the abbey are the gatehouse and the attached range at the main entrance, the farm buildings and the mill, once powered by the Samson brook, which crosses the site.

Assesse (French pronunciation: [a.sɛs]) is a municipality of Wallonia located in the province of Namur, Belgium. On 1 January 2006, Assesse had a total population of 6,252. The total area is 78.16 km2 which gives a population density of 80 inhabitants per km2. The municipality consists of the following districts: Assesse, Courrière, Crupet, Florée, Maillen, Sart-Bernard, and Sorinne-la-Longue. The village of Crupet is noted for its grotto dedicated to Saint Anthony of Padua, the Crupet Castle, a moated medieval donjon, and its windmills.

Faulx-les-Tombes Castle (French: Château de Faulx-les-Tombes) is a 19th-century château in Faulx-les-Tombes in the municipality of Gesves, province of Namur, Wallonia, Belgium. The first castle on the site was built in the 13th century and was a dependency of the County of Namur. In about 1340 it passed into the ownership of the Marbaix family. After several further changes in ownership it became the property of the Corswaren family in 1665 and remained theirs until the French Revolution. The present Gothic revival building was built on the site of the first by the architect Henri Beyaert in 1872, but was badly damaged in a fire in 1961. In 1970 it was acquired by the town of Etterbeek, but has since become private property again, and is not accessible to the public.

The Goyet Caves (French: Grottes de Goyet) are a series of connected caves located in Belgium in a limestone cliff about 15 m (50 ft) above the river Samson near the village of Mozet in the Gesves municipality of the Namur province. The site is a significant locality of regional Neanderthal and European early modern human occupation, as thousands of fossils and artifacts were discovered that are all attributed to a long and contiguous stratigraphic sequence from 120,000 years ago, the Middle Paleolithic to less than 5,000 years ago, the late Neolithic. A robust sequence of sediments was identified during extensive excavations by geologist Edouard Dupont, who undertook the first probings as early as 1867. The site was added to the Belgian National Heritage register in 1976.

Goyet is a hamlet of the municipality Gesves, Wallonia, located in the province of Namur, Belgium.It is famous for Goyet Caves, with glacial remnants of Neandertals, Homo sapiens and canid.In 2016, two ancient hunter-gatherers that were excavated at Goyet were found to carry the M mtDNA haplogroup. The Late Pleistocene specimens were dated to 34,000 and 35,000 years ago.

Ohey (French pronunciation: [ɔɛ]; Walloon: Ohè) is a municipality of Wallonia located in the province of Namur, Belgium. On 1 January 2006 the municipality had 4,283 inhabitants. The total area is 56.62 km2 (21.86 sq mi), giving a population density of 76 inhabitants per square kilometre (200 inhabitants/sq mi). The municipality is composed of the following districts: Évelette, Goesnes, Haillot, Jallet, Ohey, Perwez. Also located in Ohey are the villages of Bois-Dame-Agis, Ève, Filée, La Bouchaille, Libois, Résimont, Saint-Mort and Tahier.

Bonneville Castle (French: Château de Bonneville) is a stately home in Bonneville in the municipality of Andenne, province of Namur, Wallonia, Belgium.Originally a farmhouse with a 15th-century donjon, it was acquired in 1617 by Jacques de Zualart, who began an extensive rebuilding, the continuance of which ruined his son, Tilmant de Zualart. In about 1690 the château became the property of his principal creditor, Jean-Hubert de Tignée, whose descendants still own it.The present building is in the Mosan style of the 17th century, with 18th century additions and French gardens.

Courrière (Walloon: Côrire) is a village of Wallonia and a district of the municipality of Assesse, located in the province of Namur, Belgium. Until 1977, it was an independent municipality. Courrière is located at the junction of two major roads, the A4/E411 and the N4, and consists of the compact central village, Petit-Courrière, and a large hamlet, Trieu d'Avillon, which are separated from each other by the roads. Courrière has been an independent parish from the 18th century. At the centre of the village stands the parish church of Saint Quentin, of Romanesque origin, and next to it a fortified farmhouse, or ferme-château, the so-called Château de Courrière, the present structure of which dates from the 17th century.

Andenne (French pronunciation: [ɑ̃.dɛn] ; Walloon: Andene) is a city and municipality of Wallonia located in the province of Namur, Belgium. On January 1, 2006, Andenne had a total population of 25,240. The total area is 86.17 km² which gives a population density of 292 inhabitants per km². The municipality, and the central city, extend on both sides of the river Meuse. The municipality consists of the following districts: Andenne, Bonneville, Coutisse, Landenne, Maizeret, Namêche, Sclayn, Seilles, Thon-Samson, and Vezin.

Scladina, or Sclayn Cave, is an archaeological site located in Wallonia in the town of Sclayn, in the Andenne hills in Belgium, where excavations since 1978 have provided the material for an exhaustive collection of over thirteen thousand Mousterian stone artifacts and the fossilized remains of an especially ancient Neanderthal, called the Scladina child were discovered in 1993.

Hamois (French pronunciation: [amwa]; Walloon: Hamwè) is a municipality of Wallonia located in the province of Namur, Belgium. The village is around 25 km (16 mi) south-east of the city of Namur. On 1 January 2020 the municipality had 7,375 inhabitants. The total area is 76.42 km2, giving a population density of 96.5 inhabitants per km2. The municipality consists of the following districts: Achet, Emptinne, Hamois, Mohiville, Natoye, Schaltin, and Scy. Mouffrin Castle in Gemenne and Ry Castle are both in Hamois, and continue to be in the possession of the noble Aspremont-Lynden family. Multiple other castles, still owned and inhabited by other noble families, are spread all over the municipality. One of them, the Castle of Skeuvre, still owned and inhabited by the de Beaudignies family, is noticeably known as the "Spirou Castle", after Franquin got inspiration from it to create the Champignac castle that is depicted in these comics.

The Collegiate Church of Saint Begga (French: Collégiale Sainte-Begge) is a collegiate church in Andenne, Belgium. Founded in the 7th century, the currently visible church dates from 1770 to 1775 and was designed by architect Laurent-Benoît Dewez.
